U9 & U10 Trainings 75 Minutes Warm ups & Cool Downs For each session there are warm up activities. Each week during your warm ups take breaks and implement some of the following exercises from your fit cards. Each session ends in some type of game where you usually have gear spread out all over the training area. Upon the ending of training take this time to include some cool down exercises. Good way to implement; have the kids pick up all the gear lying around the training ground. When they come back towards you show them what exercises you would like them to conduct. Warm up list: Week 1: Jump rope & March in a Band Week 2: Hula Hoop & Dance in Place Week 3: Jumping Jacks & Rollerblade in place Week 4: Arm Swings & Leg swings (Kids grab a partner and grab their shoulder and start swinging inside leg gently back and forth for 15 sec. repeat other side. Do not let players kick each other) Week 5: Over head Reaches & Jump High Week 6: Rollerblade in place & Arm Circles Week 7: Jump high & Dance in place Week 8: Jumping Jacks & Overhead Reaches Cool down list: Week 1: Quadriceps stretch & Side Stretches Week 2: Overhead stretch & Cobra Week 3: Arm across chest & Butterfly stretch Week 4: Triceps stretch & Toe Touches Week 5: Upper back stretch & Childs pose Week 6: Butterfly stretch & Quadriceps stretch Week 7: Toe touches & Cobra Week 8: Side stretch & Childs pose

Week 1 Dribbling (Taking others on) Warm up- Ruler of the Pitch (10 Minutes) o In a 20x20 grid start with everyone having a ball but one player. All players are to dribble around the pitch trying to keep the ball from getting stolen. Once their ball is knocked away they now help the defenders steal balls until only one player is left. o Play for a few rounds giving players multiple opportunities to have success. Use this time to introduce shielding and different moves. (shielding = putting their body between the defender and the ball.) Moves i.e scissors, step over, Iniesta (la croqueta) Exercise 1- Find a cone (10 Minutes) o Have a 20x20 Grid with cones scattered around (have 2 less cones than players) o Work on moves to help the players become familiar with them and to teach them they can be used to open space. Players are to dribble around the grid. Coach can call out different speeds to run or moves to conduct i.e. Step over, scissors, 2 footed V Once coach says find a cone players go as fast as they can to get to a cone and put their foot on the ball Players who get to a cone get 1 point, if player is not on a cone they lose all points. First player to 5 points wins Make sure players stay moving and keeping the ball close to them Exercise 2-1v1 tournament (20 Minutes) o Set up a series of 5Lx8W with goals on both end lines Players will play 1v1 scoring by dribbling past the opponent's end line. Games will go for 60 seconds with 30 second rest. Rotate players every game playing 8-10 rounds Play starts with a pass from the point getter.

Play- 1v1 big to goal (30 Minutes) o Set up a 10Wx15L grid, make two teams where they line up at midline on opposite sides of the field o One side is defense the other is offense, Defense will play the ball to offense who then has to dribble to a goal and try to score. They are allowed to pick either and can switch the goal they attack during the game. (Highly encouraged) Let the players be the ones to make the choices during this game, encourage deception with moves to score. Alternative Activity OvD 1v minutes o Set up a 15Lx20W grid with an end zone on one end and two goals wide on the others There are two teams one defense and one offense Have both teams line up Defensive team passes to the offensive team who then tries to dribble ball to goals and finish the ball. Defensive team needs to try and steal the ball from offense and then dribble ball into the endzone. Team first to 5 wins.

o Play a few rounds Emphasize winning the ball and keeping possession to now attack.

Week 2 Defense Warm up- 3V1 Variation (5-10 Minutes)ff Set up a 3x3 grid with flat cones o 1 cone in the middle with ball atop o 3 players pass ball around 1 defender (2 touch minimum) and tries to knock ball off cone. (Switch after 45seconds of play) o No players are allowed to enter the grid To make more difficult increase #of passes needed before they can knock ball off cone. Emphasis, (force the ball one way and make them have a mistake.) o Alternative play 4v1 the four have to stay on their specific side line and pass keep the ball away from the defender through passing. Exercise 1 - Ninja of the pug (15-20 minutes) o Make a Circle with a diameter of 10 yds, in the middle of the circle place one pug goal. Start with one Ninja and have the rest be the villagers. The ninjas duty is to steal a ball from a player and score in the pug goal. If a player s ball enters a pug they become a ninja as well. o If a ball goes out of the circle have them bring it back in play and continue (if players dribble out for a safe space they become a ninja as well) Emphasize stealing the ball and attacking right away. Trying to get away from booting the ball once we win it.

Exercise 2- O v D 2v2 (15-20 minutes) o Set up a 15Lx20W grid with an end zone on one end and two goals wide on the others There are two teams one defense and one offense Have both teams line up in two lines Defensive team passes to the offensive team who then tries to dribble ball to goals and finish the ball. Defensive team needs to try and steal the ball from offense and then dribble ball into and stop the ball in the endzone. Team first to 5 wins. o Play a few rounds Emphasize winning the ball and keeping possession to now attack. Play- 2v2 Transition (20-25 minutes) o Keep the 20x20 grid and have all players stand in 4 lines at midfield (2 teams) o Make sure goals are designated and players know what way to go. Coach will roll a ball out into play and the first player in each line will go out to play 2v2 until ball goes out of bounds or in the goal. Start next ball with roll. Emphasize beating player 1v1 and getting to the ball quick.

Alternative Activity Killer Whale (15 minutes) Create a circle diameter 10yds 2 players are Orcas (let all players have a chance to be orca) Rest dribble around in circle Orca s try to steal and dribble as many balls out of circle as possible. If players lose ball they retrieve it, do 10 toe taps and come back in Each Orca pair plays :30-:45 seconds Players should shield ball and dribble to get away Emphasize not stabbing but staying in front of the ball and teaming up to win balls.

Week 3 Attacking Warm up- Tiki Taka (10 Minutes) o Players get in groups of 5-6 Have players get into a tight circle (no grid needed) and play 4v1, 5v2 keep away. If the player in the middle wins the ball or a player has a bad pass/trap then the player who made the mistake goes to the middle. Emphasize smart passes and to keep the ball moving. Exercise 1- Y passing to Goal (15 Minutes) o Start with two goals on the end line one on each side. ball starts on the endline in the middle of the field. Ball is then passed straight up the field and then out wide where the player dribbles toward the goal and makes a shot. Switch sides the ball is passed to when starting the attack. When finishing emphasize focus on the ball making contact with the foot. o Have players rotate after each go. Progression add different passes moves or add 1 defender to the play along with one attacker. Exercise 2-3v2 to goal (20-25 minutes) o Create Two 20Wx30L fields with small goals o Play 3v2's - Sub the offense and defensive players every interval. The 3 are to attack with pace knowing when to pass and dribble. One player should always be open and available to receive the ball.

If defense wins the ball they can attack they opposite goal. Scrimmage Alternative Exercise During the Y passing activity add in combination play. Start with a give and go pass from the bottom to the middle, then a long pass to the top of the Y who then dribbles towards goal passing it back to the middle player to score. Can also put one goal on each end so the build up the field. Instead of point dribbling back to end line they dribble towards the other goal.

Week 4 Dribbling Warm up- keep on moving (6-8 minutes) o Dribble around a 20x20 grid using different moves to create space. Use this as a time to let the kids express themselves, tell them to be creative, just have to try new moves. Emphasize 2-3 fast steps after each move. o Dribble for 45 seconds with 15 second break Have 6 rounds Exercise 1- Take Em on (15-20 minutes) o Make two 15Lx10W grids then break them down to three sections 5Lx10W In each grid place one defender for a 1v1 bout. A line will start outside the first gird with players with the ball who will be attacking. The goal for them is to get from one grid to the next and eventually all the way through and score a goal. Once the offensive player scores or loses the ball the next player in line goes. Defenders have to stand on the back end of their zone until the offensive player enters the grid. rotate players after every attempt. Offensive players go to the 3rd grid, 3rd to 2nd, 2nd to 1st and 1st to offensive line. o Emphasize beating the player quick while keeping ball close entering the next grid. Exercise 2 - Choose a goal (15-20 Minutes) o Set up a 10Lx 15W grid with two goals on one side and none on the other. Set up two lines one in-between the goals, other across from them on the touch line. Players by the goal are defense and play the ball to the offense. When the offensive player receives the ball they can choose either goal to attack o Rotate players after every attempt. Emphasize a quick change of direction move to a goal and score.

Play- full sided game no restrictions (Remainder of time) Alternative Exercise Create a 20x20 grid have cones scattered around the grid some right side up and others upside down. Create two equal teams, one team will be trying to flip the cones upside down while the others will be trying to flip them right side up. Team with most flipped their way wins. Play 4 or 5 times for 1 minute. Emphasize dribbling close but fast.

Week 5 Shooting Warm up Tiki Taka (10 minutes) Exercise 1- Four corners (15-20 minutes) o Create four lines, two by the goal and two on top of the 18 yard box. Balls start on the end line where they play the ball diagonally passer steps out to defend for a 1v1. Once play is done they switch lines, new play is started with other line. Exercise 2 - Flying Changes (15 minutes) o Make a 15Lx10W Grid with two equal teams Each team will have 3 lines one line has balls To start one team dribbles out and the other come out to defend they play 3v3 until the ball goes over one of the end lines or is scored. Depending on what end line the ball crosses or goal it enters determines which team steps off and starts with a new ball (Which ever endline the ball crosses 3 new players come on from that team). Play first team to 7 goals and start a new game. Can play best of 3 I.e. if you are playing black vs white and black scores on white, white will leave the field and 3 new white will enter while black stay on the field and defends until the ball crosses their end line

Emphasize taking on players quick and shooting, lots of shooting. Play ( 30 minutes) Alternative Exercise Finishing Lines Start with four lines as you would in four corners. Ball starts on the base line. The first players passes it to the player standing on top of the box (target player) then makes an overlapping run onto a laid off ball and strikes on target. Shooter becomes target player (player on top of box) target player goes to back of the line. Rotate each side and after every shot. Rotate sides after 5 minutes. Emphasise pointing your toe and striking with the laces following through on your shot (Shooting leg moves in the direction you want the ball to go)

Week 6 Passing/ Receiving Warm up- Horse shoes (10 minutes) o Line up two rows of cones approx. 15 yards apart. Each player will have a partner they are t9 pair up with another group for a game of horseshoes. Teams are to take turns passing the ball to their teammate; Teammate should trap the ball as close to their cone as possible, they only have one touch. Team with ball stopped closest to their cone wins. Emphasize getting body behind the ball and watch ball to body part they are trapping with. Start with passes on the ground and move to air as they become more advanced. Exercise 1- passing diamond race (15 minutes-20 minutes) o Set up two teams of 5-6 players. Each team should make a diamond that s 15x15 Passing Patterns 1. Give Go 2. Overlap Tell each team to get around the square as fast as possible the first team to have all players back to their original spots wins. o Go both ways, Emphasize a positive first touch and quality passes with the inside of their feet. Exercise 2- Passing ending with shot (20-25 minutes) o Have two groups going at once. Each will make a triangle on their side of the goal.

One player starts on the end line five yards off of the post. Second player is at a diagonal even with the PK spot, last player is on top of the 18yds box. Ball starts on the end line goes to diagonal player and then to the point where they touch and shoot. Have players rotate after each shot. o Progression: have an overlap between the 2 nd and 3 rd player, or 1v1 with 2 nd and 3 rd player after pass is made. Play (20-25 minutes) Alternative Exercise 2v1 (Similar to Take Em On) o Make two 15Lx10W grids then break them down to three sections 5Lx10W o At the end of the 3rd grid create a zone to dribble into or a goal to shoot into. In each grid place one defender for a 2v1 bout. Two lines will start outside the first gird with players on the right starting with the ball who will be attacking. The goal for them is to get from one grid to the next and eventually all the way through. Once the offensive players score or loses the ball the next player in line goes. After each attempt rotate players. Offensive line with a ball goes to the other offensive line, offensive line without ball goes to the 3rd grid players in the 3rd grid go to the 2nd grid. Players in the 2nd grid to go the 1st grid, players in 1st grid go to the line with the balls. o Emphasize beating the player with quick passes or dribbling while keeping possession entering the next grid. Progression, add a certain number of passes prior to entering the second grid.
