Junior Sailing of Beaufort is hosting the High School sailing practice sessions on Friday afternoons at the club again this year (thanks Peter Gamble for your coaching efforts). The Labor Day Picnic was a great success and Sunset Fridays, Steak Night, and other social activities continue to be well attended. Also, the pool is still open and the tennis courts are seeing a lot of use so, plenty of things going on at the club as we transition from summer into fall. Cooler weather is on the horizon and headed this way! It is your club come enjoy it - Chuck Sept 26-Final Friday 6PM

Hey ya ll, It s been an amazing season here at the BYSC, but the fun doesn't stop just because it s September. We have a lot of great stuff going on this month, and we want to see ya ll here. I am planning on having a cast net class on Monday 9/15 at 530 pm on the dock. This class is free to new members who want to learn about this fun part of Lowcountry Life. There will be a series of programs throughout the year that will be kind of How-To on all kinds of fun stuff like this, if you have a skill you want to share, please contact the Office. It has been so much fun this summer watching folks enjoy the club. I look forward to the cooler weather and more fun times to come. Milledge Webb

2014 Labor Day Regatta Glassy Waters and high temps greeted the sailors both days of the Labor Day Regatta...just as they were about to abandon, the sea breeze rolled up the river allowing for three races Sunday and three more on Monday. Thirty boats in all where registered and here are the winners: MC Scow-Walt Gnann Laser Full Rig-John Potter Laser Radial-Walt Gnann Sunfish-Gordon Sproul 420-Alex Mazzeo Opti-Thomas Mazzeo Thanks to PRO s George Dewhirst on Sunday and John Barber on Monday. Also all of our River Rats for manning their posts and to Chip Dinkins and Milledge Webb for feeding the crowd. It was a pleasure seeing so many new kids who came in through the Junior Sailing Program, all participating in club regattas. That s what it s all about. Regatta Chair, George Post

2014 PHRF Big Boat Fall Series. This coming September 19 th will be the fifth year we re-started big boat racing at the BYSC. The Performance Handicap Racing Fleet or (PHRF) formula allows dissimilar sailing boats to race against each other. Our series offers three classes, so at the BYSC we pretty much cater for any kind of sailing craft so long as there is a PHRF rating for it. The three classes cover a wide spectrum of boats, from the wild and wooly VX Ones, to traditional cruising craft that still have A/C and fridges in them! So if you have any kind sailboat, there is an excellent chance you can race it. As mentioned above the Fall Series starts September 19 and runs through to October 31 st. There are six race weeks total. We skip Oct 24 th because of the Dataw Island race. Races usually start at 5:30pm on Friday evenings. We normally get 12-13 boats register, and crews typically range from 2 to 5-6 crew members on board. This means there could be forty or more folks enjoying a lovely Friday evening racing on the Beaufort River. Racing is fun and exciting, and if you have not raced before it will certainly help you with you boating skills! Registration forms etc. are on the BYSC website, or please contact me at Ballenger@hargray.com or (843) 521-7977. If you have any interest in racing and are not sure it is for you, please contact me and let s discuss it. Everett Ballenger. PHRF Class Captain.

The Pool is now open for regular hours 9am-7pm Mon- Saturday, Sundays 12-7 The Pool has been very busy this summer and everyone has enjoyed the Saline Chlorinated Pool very much. If you have any suggestions on how to make it any better next summer please let me know.
