District 4-H Has Talent Saturday, January 27, 2018 Fairview Arts & Education Center (school auditorium), Fairview, OK Here is the information to share with your 4-H Has Talent acts. Please provide all information including directions and rules to them. Enclosed with this letter are the Entry Form, Guidelines, and items of interest to 4-H members and leaders of your winning acts regarding the District 4-H Has Talent Contest. Each county is permitted to have two (2) group acts and one (1) individual act in the District Contest. It is the county's responsibility to check eligibility and age of each participant before entry is sent. They must be a member for at least 30 days prior to the event. See current pub. 5 Oklahoma 4-H Club Policy for more details. It will be held at the Fairview Arts & Education Center (school auditorium, at the school complex), just east of the intersection of 12 th & Elm, Fairview, Oklahoma. 1) Completed entry forms and entry fee will be due to the N.W. District Office by January 22, 2018. (Don't forget to note any special needs regarding lighting or effects we will do our best.) 2) In order to make the event financially sound, a non-refundable entry fee must be submitted with the entry form. The cost is $15 for each act. Make checks payable to: N.W. District. 3) Participants must arrive and one person per act must register at the auditorium by 9 a.m. (For Counties that are 2 hours or more away your acts will be added to the end if you do not want to be at the drawing. All acts and members of the acts must be present at the contest by 11:00 a.m. There will be no exceptions don t ask! ) 4) At 9:15 a.m. a drawing for order will be held for the acts that have registered. Any group or individual that arrives after the drawing will be allowed to perform at the end of the program. There will not be a morning and afternoon session. 5) The first act will tentatively go on stage at 9:30 a.m. For those not available at the drawing you will be added to the end of the numbers that are at the drawing. Oklahoma State University, U.S. Department of Agriculture, State and Local governments cooperating. Oklahoma State University, in compliance with Titles VI and VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Executive Order 11246 as amended, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, and other federal and state laws and regulations, does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, gender, age, religion, disability, or status as a veteran in any of its policies, practices, or procedures.

6) ABSOLUTELY NO FOOD OR DRINKS ARE ALLOWED IN THE AUDITORIUM OR ENTRYWAY (NONE IN THE FACILITY AT ALL). No hay, straw, water, etc. are allowed on stage. No practice will be allowed on stage as time is not available to give everyone the same opportunity. Water and related beverages will be allowed outside only if needed by the performers. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR 4-H MEMBERS, PARENTS AND VOLUNTEERS KNOW THIS. 7) Props need to be taken through the back door. 8) Please remind leaders and 4-Hers that they have a total of ten (10) minutes to get their act on and off the stage (including a maximum of 6 minutes for the presentation). Any act that exceeds these time limits will be penalized as follows: Anytime up to 1/2 minute over - 2 point penalty 1/2 minute to 1 minute over - 5 point penalty Each additional minute over - 10 point penalty This should be an incentive to be efficient! 9) Due to limited space, only the next two acts waiting to perform will be allowed backstage. Props of acts that have already performed should be moved from the backstage area as soon as they have performed. Dressing room space is also limited. 10) The top three individuals, the top three small groups (2 to 4 participants), and the top three large group (5 or more participants) presentations will receive a trophy sponsored by Oklahoma Red Carpet Country. All presentations will be designated as a blue award, red award or white award winner and each participant will receive a ribbon. 11) Please make sure Medical Release forms are completed on all youth and that they travel in the same vehicle as respective youth. 12) Judges comment sheets will be returned to counties by mail. 13) In case of bad weather the following radio stations will be contacted to make the announcement of whether it will be canceled: K101 FM Woodward; KNID 99.7 FM, & KXLS 95.7 FM out of Enid; KSLS 101.5 FM Liberal, KS, The House 89.7 FM out of Ponca City. 4-H Has Talent GUIDELINES 4-H Has Talent is a competitive talent sharing activity held on county and district levels. Objectives To help young people: Develop an appreciation for the performing arts. Discover, develop and demonstrate their talents. Develop poise, confidence and skill by appearing before an audience Develop leadership abilities, cooperative attitudes and socially by working with other 4-H members and volunteers. Encourage continuation of special or formal training Open doors to vocational or professional careers. Provide opportunities for wholesome recreation. Who May Participate 4-H members who meet age requirements and have been enrolled at least 30 days prior to day of event. County Responsibility Provide leadership for training and selecting group and individual acts to compete at District 4-H Has Talent. Secure insurance for performers at District. Requirements for County and District Shows Requirements for county shows are determined by county committees. Contestants must be 4-H members for at least 30 days prior to the district show. Participants must be 4-H members except for an accompanist. (Non-4-H members must not be visible to audience.) Length of act: maximum of six minutes on stage. Total time allowed: ten minutes (6 minutes on stage and a maximum total of 4 minutes to set-up (2 min.) and remove props (2 min.). Appropriateness of Act All acts must support the positive values that underlie the 4-H Program. Acts should reinforce family values and must not include: Inappropriate or suggestive lyrics Inappropriate or suggestive gestures Dress or costumes that are suggestive or provocative Topics that may offend diverse audiences or other groups Topics that glamorize alcohol, drugs, violence or other illegal or immoral behavior

District Awards: The top three acts in each group size division will be awarded a trophy. All 4-H Has Talent participants will receive a ribbon of the color that their act was rated by the judges. Substitutions in District Show In the case of illness or other justifiable reason, a substitution may be made following the County competition in minor roles in group acts only. No other substitutions may be made. Eligible Acts: Each County may send the following acts to the District 4-H Has Talent Show: One Individual (solo) act A maximum of two groups that may be: Small group of 2 to 4 performers. Large group of 5 or more performers. District Sponsors Oklahoma Red Carpet Country N.W.
