Whether you were one of the dozens of county youth that took a project to state fair (many of you took home top honors!), one of the 160+ campers & counselors that came to Kelleys Island for 4-H Camp, you took part in a Washington Youth Program, or you simply took time to try something new with 4-H, you have made this summer something special and worthwhile for you and all those around you. The project books are graded, the demonstrations are given, the outstanding interviews have been decided, the Skillathon scores have been tallied, and now many of you will have the opportunity to show off your hard work and awards along with your peers at the Wyandot County Fair. Whether you re showing off your animals in an arena or displaying your projects in a fair booth, we are all excited to see your efforts on full display with the rest of your friends and your clubs. As the Wyandot County Fair comes to a close, I will be leaving my role as Wyandot County s Extension Educator for 4-H Youth Development to transition into a new role within the university system. You will still see me at the fair and occasionally around the county, as I still claim Carey as my home town, but I ll no longer be serving within the Extension Office here in Wyandot. I wanted to thank you all for your support, hard work, and commitment in helping make Wyandot County a place that truly makes the best better. Without your passion and gifts, none of this is possible. Extension Wyandot County Educator Inside this issue: Volunteer Appreciation Dinner/50 year family/extension Office hours/ Misc. This past summer, Wyandot County was fortunate to host two individuals as part of the 2018 Ohio 4-H International Program. Yukako, a teacher in Japan, and Haiki, a student. The two families participating in this exchange program from Wyandot County help make up the 75 total families from Ohio who took part in this program this summer. The Ohio 4-H International Program seeks to help individuals from Ohio visit other countries while offering the opportunity for individuals from other counties to experience what Ohio 4-H is all about. Over the past 30+ years, almost 4,000 4-H families have hosted Japanese youth and adults in the state of Ohio. To find out more details about the International Program within Ohio 4-H Youth Development, be sure to check out ohio4h.org/statewide-programs/internationalprogram and for more details over the impact our state 4-H program has had, click the By the Numbers link on that page.
