CLASS DESCRIPTIONS Ballet - It is highly recommended that dancers continue with their Ballet training, as it is the basis of all dancing. There is a definite strength and technical quality/calibre in dancers who take Ballet along with their Tap and Jazz. As well, dancers will have more options and opportunity as they progress. rs will need to be in our Ballet program to be involved in the Pre Int/Intermediate/Senior level at the studio, as well as to participate in Lyrical. It is more beneficial for the dancer to be doing Ballet from the beginning in order for them to develop to their required potential and train with their own age group. rs may have an opportunity to take C.D.T.A. Ballet Exams if felt to be ready. Prep for Pointe, Pointe - Prep for Pointe is introduced when dancers have achieved a certain skill level. Pointe work is only introduced when dancers have achieved yet another level of Ballet. rs will be informed when this has been achieved. Enhancement Class - Higher Ballet levels will require more than one Ballet class per week in order to advance. This class will not be optional. Int 2 & Senior Jazz - This class is offered as a separate class at the Junior Level & Up and as a combo class at the PreJunior level. rs have an opportunity to take A.D.A.P.T. Jazz Exams if felt to be ready. Technique - Technique class becomes part of the dancers training at the Pre Int/Intermediate level. This class will not be optional. Pre Int & Up Lyrical - Lyrical is a combination of Jazz and Ballet. We introduce lyric to higher Intermediate level groups in their technique class. Stretch/Strength Class - A Stretch/Strength class is available to our Junior, Pre-Int, Intermediate and Senior level dancers. This class is free to dancers enrolled in our Ballet and Jazz program and is essential for dancers to progress to their full flexibility and strength. Tap - This class is offered as a separate class at the Junior Level & Up and as a combo class at the Beginner & Pre Junior level. rs may have an opportunity to take A.D.A.P.T. Tap Exams if felt to be ready. Acro - This program will offer dancers enrolled at Images, training in tumbling, acro skills as well as stretch & strength. All elements learned will enhance their training and is recommended for a stronger, more well rounded dancer. This program runs for 7 months. Musical Theatre - rs must be involved in our Jazz program to participate. Please be specific on the back of pre-registration cards about these classes. This class is offered to students in the Junior level and up. Hip Hop - rs must be involved in our regular dance program to participate. This class is offered to students in the Junior level and up. 2

FOR THE PARENTS: WE RE IN THIS TOGETHER We believe that children s success depends on the support of their parents or guardians. Because your commitment to the process makes an enormous difference, we encourage you to be part of your child s dance education. Our program relies on a positive atmosphere from our staff, students, and their parents; it promotes a positive learning experience for all involved. Cooperation between all parents is expected. Showing respect for the other parents, along with others in a professional setting allows students to develop to their full potential. Your child s presence at all classes, rehearsals, and performances is imperative. The spirit of teamwork and the lesson of dedication are a big part of our school s educational process. Parents and teachers may look at a child s learning from different perspectives. However, we share a common goal: to assure that every child receives the best possible training, both physically and mentally. Mutual respect between our faculty and our dancers parents provides the children with the ultimate care and education for them to become the best they can be. UNDERSTANDING DANCE EDUCATION As a parent, the financial support of your student is important, but of equal - perhaps of even greater value is your emotional support. Encourage your child to be the best that he or she can be without regard to what others may achieve. is an individual art form; each child needs to progress at a pace that s comfortable for him or her. No two students will progress at the same rate, even if they experience the exact same training. It s important to encourage your children to focus on themselves, give their all, and be satisfied with their own accomplishments. education encompasses far more than technique or the steps your children will learn. We believe the discipline of dance training gives young people a better understanding of commitment by offering them the chance to learn, experience the spirit of teamwork, and understand what hard work can accomplish. Our goal is to educate the minds, bodies and souls of our students, to teach the the skills needed for a successful life, whether or not they stay involved with dance, their Education will never be wasted. There s nothing better than expressing life through the art of 5

Missed lessons result in your child falling behind and lowering the productivity of the group as a whole. If your child will be absent, please contact the Studio or leave a message on the answering machine. In order for Images to uphold a high standard of dance training and credibility for all of our students, dancers must be willing to work to achieve and maintain their class level. It is important at the higher levels that students not just participate in class but be committed to maintain their level. When students are not present in class no matter what the reason, their level drops and with repeat absentee they are not able to maintain their class level. This will be evaluated on a regular basis and if it is felt that a student is not maintaining their class level they will be moved to a level that is better suited for them. Images recognizes that our students and parents look to us to ensure that their children receive the best possible quality dance training available, for the financial and time investment made. We are committed to provide this to all of our students. Life is not a dress rehearsal, there s only one performance Make it all that it can be! 6
