Board Meeting Minutes June 14th 2011 1. The building of the skeet houses is going forward. Landscapers are coming. Need to look at the angle of the houses. Skeet houses will be built separate and then moved into place when complete. 2 Lead collection is going forward. Equipment should be here on 6/15/11. 3. Logging payment. An explanation of the logging payment has been received and is appropriate. We need information and payment on the wood chips that were taken from the property. 4. Pistol range. We have the windows for the shed. We need to move forward with the building. Need more fill brought in for the berms. Once the berms are to required height we need to get plants growing on the berms to prevent wash out and reduce the noise bounce. 5. Landscaping. There is some concrete that needs to be poured yet and some landscaping needs completion yet also. Discussed more black top for the parking lot, decided to wait for this project until we have quotes in for other projects (pistol shed, painting the club house) 6. Club house painting. Waiting for quote. 7. Club house rental. There is a problem with the payment for the payment from the June 4 th rental. Don and Dave will investigate. 8. Sunday bar time closing at 5:00 is working. New Business 9. Customer service training for RSOs and bartenders. There was a discussion with some of the members who are RSOs and bartender about this. Some of the conversation was heated. The board members discussed things to make the RSOs job easier i.e. better ways of showing when the range is hot and when it is safe, like shooting time limit, or maybe red and green lights, printing up small cards with shooting rules to be handed out. 10. Kinicinic Pheasants Forever will be making a donation to the club. 11. Need better security with the front gate. 12. Conceal carry classes. Steve Guggemos is requesting using the pistol range for qualifying for conceal carry classes on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. The board did not have any issues with this other than Steve will need to check and make sure there are no conflicts with any police training that may be scheduled. On July 21 at 7:15 you have an opportunity to learn the game. If you are an old hand, help some others learn. We will be playing 20 hands, then switching tables and playing another 20 hands. It should take about one and a half or two hours. Sets will cost 50 cents and will be used to pay 1 st and 2 nd place two person teams. A sign up sheet is at the club. If you do not have a partner, we will find you one. If you have questions call Bob Snegosky 612-819-8313 or Dave Orf 715-386-5657 In Memory of Steven C. "Jupe" Houman Steven Carl Jupe Houman, age 79, of Hudson, passed away at his home on Wednesday afternoon, June 1, 2011. He was born the son of Stephen and Laura Houman on April 30, 1932 in Hudson. Jupe graduated from Hudson High School, where he had been a member of the boxing team. From 1952-54, he served in the US Navy as a Sea Bee, doing construction and engineering. On October 28, 1952, Jupe was united in marriage to Helen Ann Johnson in Hudson. They were blessed with seven children. Jupe was a life member and active volunteer of the Hudson Rod, Gun, and Archery Club. He participated in shooting trap, skeet, and BB, and he assisted with the youth day programs. Jupe was passionate about woodcarving, and was an avid collector of duck decoys. He enjoyed hunting (esp. raccoon and deer), fishing, and trapping. He loved to garden, and liked to find a good garage sale. Jupe was a friend to all. His honesty, generosity, and kindness will be greatly missed. Jupe was always ready to carve a duck decoy for a club function or fundraiser for the club. Many members passionately bid or filled out raffle tickets to be rewarded one of his decoys. All Inclusive MN/UT/FL Carry Class $100.00 Bob Amey will be holding a Carry Classes on 7/23/11 and 8/20/11. Each class provides ALL of the training needed for permits from Minnesota, Utah, Florida for a $100.00 training fee and you re all done in one day. You may register (and pay if you like) online at: http://mnpermittocarrytraining.com or call Bob at 651-336-8380 any evening or email at bobamey@aol.com for registration materials. With the passage of the Wisconsin Concealed Carry bill, Wisconsin residents should give some thought to getting a Utah permit for all of the reciprocity agreements that Utah has in place. It is likely to take Wisconsin some time to work out the reciprocity issues. You can take the 4 hour Utah class now and have 33 state coverage to compliment the Wisconsin permit. The stand alone Utah class is $75.00 and you can register at my site above. I will add some Utah only classes as demand dictates. Indianhead Trap Shoots The clubs hosting shoots during the 2011 season are: Amery- July 10th Brill- July 24th Grantsburg August 14th The shooting times are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM unless otherwise noted by the individual clubs. Shooting fees are $ 8.00 for adults and $ 3.00 for juniors for 50 Birds. For a club to remain active in the league, a minimum of 7 shooters is needed at each shoot, this has been a problem in the past hopefully we can have more interest this year.

Introductory Trap Shooting Class for Women The Hudson Rod, Gun, and Archery Club will sponsor a National Rifle Association s Women On Target Trap shooting clinic. The class consists of three sessions. The first part of the class is on Thursday, June 7th 6:30-8pm. The second part is Saturday July 9th 10am-1pm Range. The final session is on Tuesday, July 12 th from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. This clinic will feature training in the safe handling of shotguns to help participants learn the fundamentals of shooting Clay Pigeons in a relaxing and fun-filled environment. According to the National Shooting Sports Association, women are the fastest growing segment of the shooting sports. The cost of attendance is $35.00 per person. All necessary equipment will be provided by the club. Registration is completed by mailing a check (payable to the Hudson Rod & Gun Club) to Tom Irwin at 1321 Boulder Pt. Dr. Hudson, WI 54016. Be sure to reference Women On Target in the subject line of your email to avoid the trash bin Successful Indianhead Shoot The first shoot of the Indianhead series was hosted by the Hudson club on June 12th. Thanks to all that helped to make this a success. There was 162 shooters from 5 clubs. There was 3 50's and many 25's shot. This was a very well run shoot and hope we can reciprocate and have lots of shooters at the other clubs. In 2011, July has five Fridays, five Saturdays, and five Sundays. This happens once every 823 years

Calendar Raffle: Your club is once again running the traditional calendar raffle. The calendars are at the club now. To make this a success we need each member to buy and sell calendars. The club depends on this raffle as one of the key fundraisers each year. The proceeds from this raffle goes to improving facilities at your club and It requires the participation of the membership. Stop by and get yours as soon as you can. The drawings start in September but the sooner we start selling the better. If you sell 5 calendars or more your name goes in for a drawing for a handgun. Wisconsin Conceal Carry Thanks to all who contacted their legislators regarding SB-93. Below is an update of that important legislation. Both chambers of the Wisconsin state legislature have voted to approve one of the nation's strongest Right-to-Carry bills, by solid bipartisan margins. Senate Bill-93, (which was strongly backed by the National Rifle Association), now goes to Governor Scott Walker for his expected signature. When signed, it will leave Illinois as the only state that provides no way for citizens to carry concealed firearms for self-protection outside their homes or place of business. Wisconsin will require a license to carry concealed and to receive that license there is specific firearms training requirement. To view the context of the SB-93 Amendment Memo see https://doc.legis.wisconsin.gov/2011/related/lcamendmemo/sb93 Turkey shoot If you didn't take part in this shoot you missed a very fun shoot. There was 24 shooters participating some from 4 other clubs. Some of the games were Annie Oakly, Trap-Skeet combo. Thanks to everyone who helped make this shoot a succes. Thank You RiverBank The RiverBank is proud to present a check for $103.33 to Hudson Rod, Gun &Archery Youth Day. This check represents the proceeds from our RiverBucks program. Each month a different Hudson youth organization is chosen to receive RiverBucks fares. Stop in and enjoy a fresh cup of coffee and help us support community youth! Today is the oldest you've ever been, yet the youngest you'll ever be, so enjoy the day while it Lasts.

Mark your calendars for the next shoot on Saturday, July 23 rd from 10-2. Due to high demand, an additional bowling pin station will be added.
