President s Report By Jim Dickinson President, Board of Directors Golf Outing Reminder On Sunday, August 19, the Arc Downriver is hosting our 16th Annual Golf Outing. This is our single largest fundraiser of the year and it s extremely important you participate in some way. Opportunities include hole sponsorship, signing up to golf and/or gift donations. Forms for hole sponsors and golf registration are included in this month s Pyramid. Monies raised from this event go toward programs that benefit your child or loved one. Please support The Arc by getting personally involved. We thank you! Thank You I d like to say thank you to both Deb Burry and Judy Page for volunteering their time on The Arc Board. Arc Downriver GOLF SCHEDULE 2018 If you are interested in Golf this season, contact the Arc Downriver office at 734-283-0710. You must be an Arc Downriver member and have a current Special Olympics Physical on file with us to participate. Practice for all golf athletes will be at Riverview Highlands on the Mondays listed below starting at 6:30 pm. (Partners not required to attend, but would be helpful.) Practice Dates: June 4, 11, 18, 25. July (no practice in the month of July) August 6, 13, 20, 27. September 3, 10, 17, 24. (Monroe Tournament will be in August. Date and time to be determined.) Unified partners will play at Water s Edge Golf Course on Grosse Ile on Sundays. Tee time 4:00 pm. $10.00 per golfer includes cart. This year we plan to raffle off baskets and significant items of value as an additional fundraising opportunity during the Golf Outing. This is not 'free-hand' painting, so painters do not need to be artistic. Anyone can create a sign that will look like an artist painted it. YOU will be the artist and it will turn out amazing! These hand-crafted signs make great gifts and are also a great way to personalize a space in your home or office. Advance registration is required to have your custom template made and to ensure your materials are ready! Please reserve your spot no later than June 15th. The 4-week sessions take place during Adventure Club hours (from 5:30-7 pm) and are taught by one of Downriver s finest artists, Patricia Izzo. Artwork completed throughout the year will be displayed each November when we have the Opening Reception for the Art at The Arc Exhibit. Class size is limited to enable our instructor to spend more one-on-one time with each student so please register early as classes fill up quickly.
