The garden along the whitewashed South wall of the library (facing Locust Walk) will no longer exist after Penn begins construction on its new dormitories, currently scheduled for this December. If you would like to transplant one of our plants into your garden, contact Alice. There is a large clump of ornamental grass, a blackberry bush (cut back to two stalks), and a large purple butterfly bush. Also an orange trumpet vine growing up the wall. Due to FLP budget constraints, replacing the vinyl flooring in the large activity room is up to the Friends. The room gets heavy use. Near the northwest corner of the room there are large brown and grey tile patches on the yellow floor, tears and raised seams are taped, and there is wear at the entrance from the hall. Also, with cutbacks in library maintenance staff, it's been difficult keeping the floor free of scuffs and dirt. We are currently considering options for new flooring and also paying for occasional cleaning and waxing of all the floors on the first floor..
