Kevin Lygo is the Director of TV and Content for Channel 4. He is responsible for all of their TV and online output. Channel 4 is a state owned but commercially-funded company. All of the salaries at Channel 4 are funded by commercial revenues, so are not funded by British taxpayers. In 2008, with programmes such as Big Brother, Secret Millionaire and Embarrassing Bodies, the channel matched their record annual ratings performance. It was named Channel of the Year by Broadcast magazine. In the same period, it announced 200 job cuts and was forced to cut programme budgets by 25 million. Iain Coucher is Chief Executive of Network Rail. Network Rail is responsible for the running of Britain s rail infrastructure (including tracks, signals, tunnels, stations etc). Network Rail is a private company whose debts are underwritten by the government. The salaries of the staff are not funded by British taxpayers. Britain s rail network now carries a record number of passengers on a record number of trains. Passenger satisfaction and passenger safety are at an all time high. Despite this, the Office of Rail Regulation (ORR) described the company s performance in 2008-2009 as mixed, criticising the "unsatisfactory" performance on the West Coast Main Line which has had a 9bn upgrade programme. Dr Ian Roxburgh was the Chief Executive of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA). The NDA is responsible for the decommissioning and clean-up of the UK's civil public sector nuclear sites. During the 08/09 financial year the NDA, under Dr Roxburgh, not only delivered its programme within its 2.7Bn budget, but also delivered 183M worth of efficiency savings, which have been ploughed back into the clean-up mission. Adam Crozier is Chief Executive of Royal Mail Group which includes the letters and packages business, Post Office Ltd which runs the country s 14,300 branches across the country and Parcelforce Worldwide. The Royal Mail Group is funded by a combination of borrowing from the government and commercial activities. Royal Mail Group s operating profit increased to 321 million from 162 million the previous year. All four Group businesses were in full-year profit for the first time in two decades. However mail volumes fell by 5.5% during the year and are predicted to decline due to competition from electronic communications and the economic downturn. Hector Sants is the Chief executive of the Financial Services Authority. The FSA is responsible for the regulation of banking and financial services in the UK. Peter Hendy is the Commissioner for Transport for London (TFL). TFL is a public body within London s government, responsible for the transport system throughout London. The salaries of the staff at TFL are funded by a combination of tax and fares on the network. OFCOM has enforced new rules and issued a string of fines against broadcasters for TV fakery and misleading phone-in competitions. Paul Deighton is the Chief Executive of London Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG). He is responsible for the delivery of London s plan for the 2012 Olympics. LOCOG s salaries are funded by sponsorship and not British taxpayers.
