impact teams2013 We offer 4 separate teams at Impact Dance Center: All teams have the same high standards of technique, performance, and responsibility, but differ in time and financial commitment. Which is a better fit for your student and your family? PREMIERE TEAM We are excited to bring a thrilling opportunity to our younger dancers with Premiere! Dancers age 6-8 will study 5-8 hours per week in all genres of dance. Participants will experience performing year-round in community events and 1-2 regional competitions. PERFORMANCE TROUPE Our performance team dancers, previously known as Holiday Troupe and Showstoppers, represent Impact Dance Center throughout the year at community performances and 1-2 regional competitions. This team is for dancers age 7-18 seeking additional training who love to perform! Weekly commitment is from 5-10 hours per week. COMPANY DIVISION An intensive training ground for serious minded dancers looking for competitive and performance opportunities in concert and commercial work. Dancers range in age from 8-18 and train 8-15 hours per week, depending on level and age. These dancers have the opportunity to represent Impact Dance Center at regional and national competitions, conventions, master classes, community performances, and performance tours. IMPACT ELITE Impact Elite provides a springboard to those dancers seeking additional concert and commercial dance experience in addition to the competitive arena. Impact Elite dancers have the opportunity to travel on performance tours, train under professional commercial and concert dance professionals and well as receiving choreographic opportunities. These dancers age 15-19 have a flexible technique schedule and train from 8-15 hours per week. www.impactdancecenter.com/teams To the Parents We are very excited that your son/daughter is considering auditioning for our 2012-2013 Impact Dance Center Teams. They will make new friends, enjoy using his/her dance talents in a unique way, and will also experience in a positive light the meaning of commitment and responsibility! When a dancer makes the team, in a very special way his/her parents do also. Although you may not be the ones in the spotlight and sweating in the studio, you are essential to the success of the group through your time and talents, even if they are as basic as carpooling to a competition! This is a year-long (August-July) commitment, so please read the following responsibilities carefully before deciding if a team-based commitment is for you and your dancer. If you are at all unsure of your ability to make the commitment, please speak with Catherine or Tawny prior to your audition. Please be aware that this is NOT a win at all costs team. All members will strive for personal best but with the understanding that we all have different abilities, the most important being the willingness to make a solid commitment to the team. We re looking for well-rounded, teachable dancers who want to improve. The teams are considered a privilege and are in addition to your weekly dance schedule. These teams require a great deal of passion and commitment.

Auditions Dancers participate in a 4-day workshop (Dance Club or Tech.Rep August 15-18, 2011) where they will be observed by their instructors and choreographers. Team Policies (abbv) To avoid a conflict of interest, dancers may not compete with another dance studio or organization, with the exception of an academic program, while a member of Impact Dance Center teams. Dancers will maintain an average of a 2.0 GPA or better throughout the course of the season. Dancers who choose not to uphold the academic requirement will be put on probation, including parent conference and possible performance restrictions. Upon acceptance onto a team, each dancer is asked to supply a copy of their Birth Certificate. Our team dancers and parents participate in many outside activities, each of which becomes a reflection of the studio s philosophy. Please keep the following in mind: We speak positively about teachers, dancers, or parents from other schools. We create positive solutions during events in which we participate. The studio director handles all communication with the directors of our outside activities. No parent or dancer may call or question the directors of any event. If you have a concern, please contact the directors. Attendance Policies (abbv) Although many of our dancers are talented in other sports and areas, we ask that when you make a commitment to your teams by making it a priority during weekend events and all rehearsals. Dancers are expected to maintain impeccable attendance in weekly technique classes and in all team classes. It is required that any absences from team classes or rehearsals be report to the Front Desk prior to the absence. All competitions, conventions, and/or local performances are mandatory. Homework is not an acceptable excuse for consistently missing class. Team dancers must maintain a minimum average of 90% attendance in their weekly technique classes. Dancers with less than 90% for two (2) consecutive months will have a private parent/instructor/student meeting to address the solution. If poor attendance continues after meeting, the dancer will be dismissed from groups. At choreographer's discretion, team dancers will be removed from a piece after two (2) absences. We encourage mildly ill or injured dancers to do their best to attend rehearsal and observe the new material. Dancers who simply do not show up will be removed from the dance at the teacher's discretion. It is unacceptable for a choreographer to have to track anyone down. At choreographer's discretion, dancers who miss the material in a rehearsal will not perform in that section. Dancers are expected to arrive a minimum of 15 minutes early to warm-up and review as a team. Dancer Responsibility - It is the student's responsibility to be in class and to attend all classes once at the studio, including technique classes. It is also the dancer's responsibility to follow the correct attendance procedures when signing into their classes. Consequences may include: verbal warning, alternative class placement or removal from choreography or team. Parent Responsibility - It is the responsibility of the parent to encourage and monitor his or her student's dance attendance, to report all student absences, and to work cooperatively with the studio and student to solve any attendance problem that may arise. Please notify the studio of changes to contact or emergency information. Who is an Impact Team dancer?
