PREVIEW : PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN - TOULOUSE FC Feature Preview Paris Saint-Germain will be aiming to reproduce the level of performance displayed against Chelsea in midweek as they target a win against Toulouse FC at the Parc des Princes to go provisionally top of the Ligue 1 table. Laurent Blanc's side overcame a mini injury crisis and the loss of a first-half goal to come from behind and hold the Premier League leaders to a 1-1 draw in the French capital on Tuesday in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie. They will be up against it in the return in London in March but there is still hope that they can make it through to the quarter-finals for the third season running. In the meantime they can switch their focus back to their bid to win a third successive Ligue 1 title. Paris are unbeaten in their last five league matches but a spectacular collapse last weekend which saw them throw away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at home to SM Caen means they are still playing catch-up at the top of the table. That meant they squandered the chance to go level on points with Olympique Lyonnais at the top and they come into this weekend two points adrift of OL and behind Olympique de Marseille in second on goals scored. However, with the top two not playing until Sunday, PSG know a win against Toulouse will take them top at least for the time being. "We played very well and we deserved to win. Now we need to be calm. We have a game on Saturday and if we play the same way maybe we will win it too," said captain Thiago Silva after the Chelsea game, in which he made his 100th appearance for the club. The result in midweek allowed PSG to maintain their unbeaten record at home this season and now they will look to continue that despite having to deal with a host of selection problems. Lucas and Serge Aurier are out after coming off in the latter stages of the Caen game and Yohan Cabaye and Thiago Motta are struggling with injuries too. With Marco Verratti and David Luiz both suspended, Blanc is down to the bare bones in midfield in particular, but up front he will be looking for the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani to lead from the front against one of the weakest defences in the division. "Cavani is a great player and he needs to show that game after game. He had a little crisis of confidence that all players can have but he works hard for the team and it's not a surprise when he scores. He is a genuine goalscorer," said Blanc of the Uruguayan after he scored against Chelsea to take his tally for the season to 17 goals in all competitions, the same as Ibrahimovic. Alain Casanova's Toulouse were renowned in past seasons for being difficult to break down but they have leaked 37 goals already in this campaign as they come into the weekend just two points above the relegation zone. A 2-1 victory at home to Rennes last time out kept their heads above water but their away record does little to inspire confidence ahead of this trip - TFC have suffered five straight away defeats in all competitions and have lost eight of their last nine on the road. Aleksandar Pesic scored a late winner against Rennes last weekend as leading scorer Wissam Ben Yedder was left on the bench for the first time this season. He has netted eight times in total this season but has not scored in 11 Ligue 1 appearances since early November. "I don't want to put any extra pressure on him. We need to leave him to get on with it. He will come back. The more days that go by, the closer we are to seeing a great Wissam Ben Yedder again," insisted Casanova, who must do without the banned Marcel Tisserand and Tongo Hamed Doumbia this weekend as Toulouse target a first win in the capital since 2008. "We are not going to get out of this difficult position in just one or two matches, we need to put a run of results together," added the coach. "We need to hope that PSG do not play the same way as they did on Tuesday, otherwise it will be very complicated for us. After the win against Rennes we have more confidence. Of course we can cause PSG problems and I hope we can come away with a result." 02/19/2015 Ligue de Football Professionnel - 2014/2015 - Ligue1.com 2

- HISTORY: Paris Saint-Germain have played host to Toulouse on 26 previous occasions in the top flight, winning 16, drawing six and losing just four. - Toulouse have won on just two of their last 18 visits to the Parc des Princes on league duty. They were 2-1 winners in the capital in December 2007 thanks to a brace from Johan Elmander. Then, in October 2008, a Zoumana Camara own-goal handed them a 1-0 victory. - PSG's biggest home wins against Toulouse have all been by 3-0 margins, in November 1985, April 1991 and in March 2001. In the latter game, Jay Jay Okocha, Laurent Leroy and Nicolas Anelka got the goals. -Paris have won their last five home meetings with Toulouse in Ligue 1. However, they have been permanent members of the top four since a 2-0 win at Caen on September 24 (Wk 7). - This time last season, PSG were top with 58 points, five points clear of AS Monaco in second. At the same stage in 2012-13, they were also top with 51 points, three points ahead of Lyon in second. - Their current points tally is their lowest at this stage of a season since 2010-11, when they had 44 points and lay fourth, two points behind leaders LOSC Lille. - Last weekend, Blanc's side drew 2-2 at home to SM Caen. Zlatan Ibrahimovic (2') and Ezequiel Lavezzi (40') scored to put Paris firmly in control but Emiliano Sala (89') pulled one back before Hervé Bazile (90+2') equalised in front of 45,571 fans. - The Paris line-up against Caen (4-3-3): Sirigu; Aurier, Marquinhos (David Luiz, 46'), Silva (c), Maxwell; Verratti, Cabaye (Rabiot, 16'), Matuidi (van der Wiel, 68'); Lucas, Ibrahimovic, Lavezzi. - Paris played the final 10 minutes against Caen with just nine men on the field. They have scored three goals or more on five separate occasions this season, including in their 5-0 demolition of Saint-Étienne in Week 4. They have failed to score at all in three games. - Zlatan Ibrahimovic is their leading scorer with 11 Ligue 1 goals, followed by Edinson Cavani with eight and Lucas with seven. - Ibrahimovic and Cavani have both scored 17 goals in all competitions, while Lucas has eight. - Marco Verratti (4) has provided the most assists in the league of any Paris player, followed by Javier Pastore and Lucas (3). - Ibrahimovic finished Ligue 1 top scorer for the second successive season last season with 26 goals, four fewer than his previous campaign in France. That result ended a run of 29 home Ligue 1 matches without defeat, stretching back to a 2-1 loss to Rennes in November 2012. - The only other teams to avoid defeat at the Parc des Princes last season were AC Ajaccio, AS Monaco and LOSC Lille. - Paris are unbeaten in 18 home games this season in all competitions - winning 13 and drawing five - and have lost just two of their last 61 home games in all competitions. - PSG's average home attendance so far this season is 45,672, slightly up on last season's average of 45,420 and the second-highest in Ligue 1 behind Marseille.
