2 PREVIEW : OLYMPIQUE LYONNAIS - AS SAINT-ETIENNE Feature Preview Alexandre Lacazette has challenged his Olympique Lyonnais team-mates to "prove we deserve to be top of the table" in Sunday's Rhône Valley derby with AS Saint-Etienne. Lyon moved back atop Ligue 1 on Wednesday with their 2-0 defeat of SC Bastia in the duo's rearranged Week 32 fixture, easing two points clear of Paris Saint-Germain, who have a game in hand. The reigning champions will only play that match - at home to FC Metz on 28 April - later this month, leaving Lyon with the possibility of holding on to top spot until then at least. It looked like they might let that opportunity slip against Bastia, who - following their Coupe de la Ligue final defeat to Paris - were seeking points to preserve their top-flight status, until substitute Mohamed Yattara sent a wave of relief around the Stade Municipal de Gerland with the opening goal 13 minutes from time. "It was a difficult match. Bastia were very compact and defended very deep. It wasn't easy to get round them," said Lacazette, who equalled the club record held by André Guy since the season with his 25th league goal of the campaign five minutes from time. "Now, the derby is going to be a big game with a great atmosphere. We're going to put a lot of effort into our performance and prove that we deserve to be top of the table." "This win gives us a 'get out of jail free' card for second place, but it's still fragile. We'll know more after Sunday, we'll see more clearly, because the games go by and we're still top of the table," said OL coach Hubert Fournier, who saw another substitute Clément Grenier - playing his first competitive game of the season - provide the cross for Yattara to break the deadlock against their stubborn Corsican opponents. "It's vital to feel all the players want to be involved. You saw that with the way the substitutes came on, full of determination. They tipped the scales in our favour." Fournier will no doubt need his whole squad once again with Les Verts making the short trip to Lyon with hopes of joining their neighbours on the Ligue 1 podium at the end of the season. Christophe Galtier's side may not have been impressive in their 1-0 win over FC Nantes last weekend, but the victory - courtesy of a Franck Tabanou free-kick early on - left them just two points behind AS Monaco, who currently occupy third place. "What counts is to qualify for Europe at the end of the season. Other teams are playing for the same thing as us. 3 "It's an important match, a game in which we can make our supporters and the city happy. Producing the same kind of performance as we did last season would be perfect. Lyon will no doubt want to take revenge, but we will have something to say about that." Saint-Etienne won in Lyon last season, and then clipped the wings of the seven-time French champions this campaign, winning 3-0 in late November to end a ten-game unbeaten run that had lifted Lyon from the brink of the relegation zone to the top three. "We know the importance of the derby. It's an exciting game to play," said Les Verts' captain, Loïc Perrin. "We're ambitious. The table is tight. We're going to try and move higher, though that does not only depend on us. You always have to aim to go higher." - HISTORY: Olympique Lyonnais have won 19 of their 48 home Ligue 1 games against AS Saint-Etienne, who have triumphed 12 times at the Stade de Gerland. - Saint-Etienne have won two and lost just one of their last three derbies in Lyon, and are unbeaten on their last two visits (1W1D). - OL's last win came in Week 12 of the season when they took the points thanks to goals from Jimmy Briand (82') and Yoann Gourcuff (90+1'), despite the 52nd-minute dismissal of Mouhamadou Dabo. - LAST SEASON: ASSE won 2-1 in Week 31 - Alexandre Lacazette equalised (39') after Mevlut Erding (28') had put the visitors in front, but Max-Alain Gradel (74') gave Les Verts all three points. The midfielder made his top-flight debut with OL in the season, and he played 34 times for them (1 goal) in L1 before joining Scottish club Rangers in summer Saint-Etienne boss Christophe Galtier was assistant coach to Alain Perrin at Lyon when the pair guided OL to a domestic double in OLYMPIQUE LYONNAIS - GENERAL: Lyon come into Week 33 top of Ligue 1 with 64 points, having won 19, drawn seven and lost six of their 32 games to date. They are two points clear of Paris Saint-Germain, who have a game in hand to be played on 28 April at home to FC Metz. - OL slipped from the top spot they had held since Week 20 after the Week 30 defeat at home to OGC Nice (1-2), but returned there following the midweek defeat of SC Bastia on 15 April. - Hubert Fournier's side were second after the opening round of games but slumped to 17th after Week 4 before climbing back up the table. 4 Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez as the only men to have scored braces in four successive league games in Europe's top five leagues in the last ten years. - In their last outing, Lyon won 2-0 at home to Bastia. Mohamed Yattara came off the bench to open the scoring (77') with Lacazette (85') clinching the win. - OL team v Bastia (4-4-2 with midfield diamond): Lopes; Dabo (Zeffane 39'), Koné, Umtiti, Bedimo; Tolisso, Ferri, Malbranque (Grenier 62'), Fekir (Yattara 75'); N'Jie, Lacazette (c) - The game against Bastia was also significant as it marked the first competitive appearance of Clément Grenier this season, and he provided the assist on Yattara's goal. - OL have won only four of their last ten league games (4D, 2L). - They have lost just three of their last 28 Ligue 1 games, a run stretching back to the September international break. They have collected 61 points in that period. - OL are joint-top in the attack table with 62 goals, the same tally as Olympique de Marseille. They have failed to score at all in just five matches. - Lacazette is the leading scorer in Ligue 1 with 25 goals, seven more than the next-best, Marseille's André-Pierre Gignac. They have the joint-second-best defensive record in L1 along with Saint-Etienne and behind only AS Monaco (22). They entered the Europa League in the third qualifying round, defeating Czech side Mladá Boleslav 6-2 on aggregate. However, they were eliminated in the play-offs by last season's Romanian top flight runners-up FC Astra Giurgiu, losing on away goals after the tie ended 2-2 on aggregate. - JANUARY TRANSFERS IN: Maxwell Cornet (Metz) - OUT: Gaël Danic (SC Bastia), Jérémy Frick (Servette, SUI, loan) - TEAM NEWS: Yoann Gourcuff (hamstring) and Maxime Gonalons (hamstring) were both hurt against Nice, but the latter was an unused substitute against Bastia. Christophe Jallet (shoulder) was injured on international duty for France against Denmark and is still out. Milan Bisevac underwent a knee operation in early February and is out until next season. Gueïda Fofana could be involved for the first time in a year following an ankle problem after being an unused sub against Bastia. Lindsay Rose is available again after serving a one-game ban for an accumulation of yellow cards. Dabo is a doubt after limping off in the first half against Bastia. - AS SAINT-ETIENNE - GENERAL: Saint-Étienne come into Week 33 in fifth place in the table with 56 points from 32 games. They have won 15, drawn 11 and lost six of their games to date and sit one point behind Marseille in fourth and a further point behind third-placed Monaco. They are two points ahead of Bordeaux in sixth. - Les Verts have not been higher than second or lower than 10th this season. They have been in the top five ever since beating Lyon 3-0 on November 30. They have not been out of the top half since January In their last outing, Saint-Étienne beat FC Nantes 1-0 at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard. Franck Tabanou scored the only goal of the game after 18 minutes shortly before he went off injured. - The Saint-Étienne line-up against Nantes (4-3-3): Ruffier; Clerc, Théophile-Catherine, Perrin (c), Tabanou (Brison 24'); Lemoine, Clément, N'Guemo (Corgnet 56'); Monnet-Paquet (Mollo 74'), Erding, Gradel. - Christophe Galtier's side are unbeaten in seven Ligue 1 games and have won four of their last five.
