2 PREVIEW : ESTAC TROYES - PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN Feature Preview After going so close to reaching the last four of the Champions League in midweek, Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain return to domestic duty with a trip to the division's bottom club Troyes on Saturday afternoon. Eliminated on the away goals rule after two heroic performances against Barcelona, PSG still have the domestic double to play for. Seven points clear at the top of the table heading into Week 32, the capital club travel to Annecy to take on Evian in the Coupe de France quarter-finals on Wednesday. Troyes are also involved in the last eight in the Coupe de France, with a home game against Nancy on Tuesday, but the games are running out fast for Jean-Marc Furlan's team if they are to secure Ligue 1 football for another season. Lodged in the bottom two since Week 2 of the season Troyes lost 1-0 at Nancy in a relegation six-pointer in Week 31 and are now six points behind fourth-bottom Evian, while only second-bottom Brest have a worse goal difference than Furlan's men. Suspended for Wednesday's 1-1 draw at the Camp Nou, PSG midfielder Blaise Matuidi is available for the visit to the club where he began his career. Ligue 1 top scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the scorer of 26 league goals this campaign, is banned and ESTAC can take hear from the fact that PSG have managed only two points from the three Ligue 1 matches the Swede hasn't featured in this season. Jérémy Ménez, the scorer of a sublime solo goal in the 2-0 win at Rennes last Saturday, is absent with a thigh problem that also kept him out in midweek. PSG's fine performances against four-time European champions Barça impressed football pundits the world over and delighted the club's Qatari owners. Club president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi said: "I'm very proud because the team played a fantastic match at the Camp Nou. We leave the competition with our heads held high. We were very close to qualifying for semi-finals. We were one of the best eight clubs in Europe and we didn't lose to arguably the best side in the world. It's difficult to say whether we can win the Champions League next season but lifting the trophy within the next five years is our objective." Coach Carlo Ancelotti added: "For me, it's my first full season here and I'm very pleased with what my side has shown in the Champions League; they've shown a strong team spirit and a strong identity, especially tonight. But it's not just my project, it's the work of an entire club that wants to grow. We were competitive, and naturally we should be even better next season." 20 of Troyes' 25 points have been claimed in home matches and ESTAC are unbeaten in their last five matches at the Stade de l'aube (2W, 3D). ESTAC's problem over the last 10 matches has been too many draws with a symmetrical record of 2W, 6D and away losses at OM and Nancy. Centre-half Florian Jarjat said: "There'll always be hope of getting out of trouble as long as nothing is mathematically decided. But to dream of staying up we need to embark on a run worthy of champions. Everything is possible and we need to finish the season as well as possible in order to give pleasure to our supporters. And then there's also the Coupe de France, which is massively important, with the opportunity to reach the semi-finals or go further still. In their team I appreciate Thiago Silva a lot, because he's a great defender and is so good at launching moves from the back. I won't hide the fact that I've got a lot of respect for David Beckham who, despite his age, is still answering the call. His massive technical qualities mean he's still capable of playing at the top level." 3 - HISTORY: Troyes have hosted PSG 10 times in the top division. ESTAC have the upper hand with four wins, four draws and two PSG victories. - The last meeting between the two clubs in Champagne country was in December 2006 and it finished 1-1. Sylvain Armand started for PSG that day. Ronan Le Crom, now a back-up keeper at PSG, was between the sticks for Troyes who named Eloge Enza-Yamissi in midfield. - Current PSG midfielder was cautioned playing for Troyes against the capital club in a 1-1 draw in August PSG's last win in the fixture was 2-1 in October THIS SEASON: In Week 14 PSG were 4-0 home winners. Maxwell (17'), Blaise Matuidi (63'), against his former club, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (70' + 88') got the PSG goals. - TROYES: - GENERAL: Troyes are bottom of Ligue 1 with 25 points from 31 games (4W, 13D, 14L). ESTAC are six points behind 17th-placed Evian and have a worse goal difference (-18) than all the other Ligue 1 clubs barring second-bottom Brest (-19). - Troyes lost their first two matches of the season to slip to the foot of the table and have been in the bottom two ever since. - They were six points adrift of safety at the midway point in the campaign. - 4 wins is the lowest total in the division. Evian and Nancy are next with seven each. - ESTAC have lost only two of their last 10 Ligue 1 matches (2W, 6D). The defeats in that run were 2-1 at OM in Week 27 and 1-0 at Nancy in Week draws is the joint-highest total in the division along with Bordeaux. - ESTAC have won none of their last 25 L1 away games. - In Week 31 Troyes lost a relegation six-pointer 1-0 at Nancy with sub Romain Grange's fine 67th-minute free-kick separating the sides. - Troyes team v Nancy: Thuram-Ulien; Colin, Jarjat, Bréchet, Othon; Thiago (Marcos 79'), Ngoyi (Enza-Yamissi 40'); Faussurier, Nivet, Camus; Bahebeck (Yattara 63') - They are 12th in the attack table with 36 goals. Only Bastia (56) have conceded more than Troyes (54). - Benjamin Nivet is the club's top scorer with eight league goals, Fabien Camus has six and Stéphane Darbion four. - Yohann Thuram-Ulien is the only member of the ESTAC squad to have played in every game to date while Nivet has missed just one L1 outing. - ESTAC are 6th in the Fair Play table with 42 yellows and five reds. - Julien Faussurier v OL in Wk 2, Jean-Christophe Bahebeck v FC Sochaux-Montbéliard in Wk 6, Fabrice Nsakala and Xavier Thiago v SC Bastia in Wk8, and Corentin Jean v Stade Rennais FC in Wk 15 are the men to have been dismissed. - HOME FORM: ESTAC are 16th in the home form table with 4W, 8D, 4L and 20 points from 16 games. - ESTAC are unbeaten in their last four home games (2W 3D) - They have scored as many goals as they have conceded (23). 4 - INJURIES: Sébastien Grax (knee) and Stéphen Drouin were both unavailable to face Nancy. - PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN: - GENERAL: PSG top L1 with 64 points from 31 matches (19W, 7D, 5L). They are seven points ahead of second-placed OM and a further four points clear of both Saint-Etienne and OL. They went unbeaten through their first ten league games of the campaign. They are currently unbeaten in their last seven matches in all competitions. -Since the winter break, they have won eight, drawn two and lost two of 12 league games. No club has bettered PSG's tally of 26 points in that period, although Saint-Etienne have matched it, and boast a superior goal difference. - This time last season PSG were second with 63 points, three points behind leaders Montpellier. - PSG hit top spot for the first time after Week 9. They have been top of the pile ever since beating Bordeaux 1-0 away on January 20, and have spent 15 weeks altogether in first place. - In Week 31 PSG were 2-0 winners at Rennes. Jérémy Ménez (56') scored a fine solo goal and Zlatan Ibrahimovic added a second in stoppage time as sub David Beckham provided his first assist in French football. - Team v Rennes: Sirigu; Van der Wiel, Camara, Sakho, Maxwell; Chantôme, Verratti (Beckham 46'), Matuidi, Ménez (Pastore 76'), Ibrahimovic, Gameiro (Lavezzi 66') - Only Sirigu, Maxwell, Matuidi and Ibrahimovic started against Barcelona in the first leg and Rennes. - Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the leading scorer in Ligue 1 with 26 goals to his name from 28 appearances. Kévin Gameiro has six, while Blaise Matuidi, Javier Pastore, Jérémy Ménez and Ezequiel Lavezzi have all scored three league goals. -Ibrahimovic has 31 goals in all competitions, while Ezequiel Lavezzi has 11 in all competitions, Gameiro and Pastore have seven each. - Ménez has provided seven assists this season, while Javier Pastore has laid on six goals and Zlatan Ibrahimovic five. -PSG have conceded just 20 goals this season, giving them the best defensive record in Ligue 1. They have kept 19 clean sheets already, while the 3-2 defeat at Sochaux on February 17 is the only game in which they have conceded more than twice. -PSG went eight consecutive Ligue 1 games without conceding a goal from Week No PSG player has appeared in every league game this season. - PSG are 18th in the Fair Play table with 60 yellows and five reds. - Ezequiel Lavezzi (v Ajaccio, Wk 2), Zlatan Ibrahimovic (v Saint-Etienne, Wk 11), Mamadou Sakho (v Montpellier, Wk 12), Blaise Matuidi (v Nice, Wk 15) and Thiago Motta (v Ajaccio, Wk 20) are the five men to have been sent off. - Former Troyes man Blaise Matuidi turned 26 in midweek. - AWAY FORM: PSG top the away form table with 28 points from 15 games (8W, 4D, 3L). -Ancelotti's side have won at Lille (2-1, Wk 4), Bastia (4-0, Wk 6), Nancy (1-0, Wk 10), Valenciennes (4-0, Wk 17), Brest (3-0, Wk 19), Bordeaux (1-0, Wk 21), Toulouse (4-0, Wk 23) and Rennes (2-0, Wk 31). -They have lost at Nice (1-2, Wk 15), Sochaux (2-3, Wk 25) and Reims (0-1, Wk 27). - They had failed to win in three away games (1D, 2L) before beating Rennes. - PSG have scored 29 and conceded 12 on their travels. -COUPE DE LA LIGUE: PSG beat holders Marseille 2-0 in the last 16 before losing 5-3 on penalties at Saint-Etienne after a 0-0 draw in the quarter-finals. -COUPE DE FRANCE: PSG have been drawn to face Evian-Thonon-Gaillard FC away in the quarter-finals on April 17. -Carlo Ancelotti's side have beaten Arras 4-3 in Calais in the Round of 64, Toulouse 3-1 at home in the Round of 32 and Marseille 2-0 at home in the Round of 16. -CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: PSG went out of the Champions League quarter-finals on away goals to Barcelona. Javier Pastore (50') put PSG ahead in the Camp Nou but Pedro (71') equalised on the night to send Barcelona through. - Team v Barcelona: Sirigu; Jallet (Van der Wiel 88'), Alex, Thiago Silva, Maxwell; Lucas, Thiago Motta, Verratti (Beckham 83'), Pastore; Ibrahimovic, Lavezzi (Gameiro 81') - The capital club drew 2-2 with Barcelona at the Parc des Princes in the quarter-final, first leg.. PSG came from behind twice, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic (79') and Blaise Matuidi (90+4') scoring for the hosts and Lionel Messi (38') and Xavi Hernández (pen-89') netting for Barça. -PSG qualified for the knockout stages by finishing top of Group A, with five wins and one defeat from six games, before beating Valencia 3-2 on aggregate in the last SUSPENSIONS: Zlatan Ibrahimovic is suspended. Blaise Matuidi is available again after being banned for Barça. - INJURIES: Jérémy Ménez (thigh) missed the Barça match. ESTAC Troyes - Troyes finished 3rd in Ligue 2 in to return to Ligue 1 after a five-year absence. They finished with 64 points, five points clear of fourth-placed Sedan. As recently as the club was playing National (D3) football. - The club's best Ligue 1 finish was seventh in both and Coach Jean-Marc Furlan is in his second spell in charge of the club. He rejoined in 2010 after previously coaching Troyes from Troyes won promotion in his first season in charge first time around and at the second time of asking in his current spell. ESTAC were relegated at the end of the season. Furlan won the Ligue 2 title as a player in 1984 with Tours and in 1987 with Montpellier. - Troyes enjoyed one European season, playing UEFA Cup football in 2001 after qualifying through the Intertoto Cup. Troyes went out to Leeds United in the second round, losing 6-5 on aggregate will be Troyes' seventh season of Ligue 1 football. - Brazilian forward Marcos dos Santos was the club top scorer in their promotion season, netting 12 Ligue 2 goals. - Troyes play at the 20,000 capacity Stade de l'aube. Paris Saint-Germain - Promoted to the French first division for the first time in 1974, PSG are the only French club never to have been relegated from Ligue 1, and are taking part in their 37th consecutive season in the top flight. - Ligue 1 champions in 1986 and 1994, PSG have won eight Coupes de France (1982, '83, '93, '95, '98, 2004, 2006, 2010) and three Coupes de la Ligue (1993, '98, 2008). - PSG's last piece of silverware came when they beat Monaco 1-0 in the Coupe de France final. Guillaume Hoarau scored the only goal of the game in the 105th minute. - Since the relegation of Red Star 93 in 1975, Paris FC in 1983 and Racing Club de France (Matra Racing) in 1990, PSG are the only Ligue 1 side in the French capital. - Season was the worst in the club's Ligue 1 history, finishing 16th and saving their place amongst the elite on the penultimate week of the season. However, they qualified for the UEFA Cup thanks to their Coupe de la Ligue victory. - Paris Saint-Germain are only the second French club to win a European cup thanks to their 1-0 triumph over Rapid Vienna in the 1996 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup - Bruno N'Gotty scoring the only goal of the game. 6 1993 European Cup (Champions League) with a 1-0 defeat of AC Milan. - On November 4, 2008, PSG opened a brand-new training complex at the Camp des Loges, at a cost of six million Euros. - In May 2011, Paris Saint-Germain announced that Qatari investors had bought a controlling 70% stake in the club, ending months of speculation about who the Ligue 1 outfit's new owners would be. - The Qatar Investment Authority, an investment arm of the Qatari government, bought out the former owners, the American group Colony Capital. In March 2012 QIA became the sole shareholder of the club after purchasing the remaining 30% stake held by Colony Capital and Butler Capital Partners. - Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the President of Aljazeera sports, who had invested heavily in Ligue 1 television rights, became president of the club and in July 2011 named former PSG, Milan, Inter and Brazil midfielder Leonardo as sporting director. - Last summer PSG spent a then-ligue 1 record fee of 43 million Euros to sign Javier Pastore from Palermo, the Argentine midfielder joined by the likes of Mohamed Sissoko, Salvatore Sirigu, Diego Lugano and Jeremy Ménez at the Parc des Princes. - Coach Antoine Kombouaré, who joined from Valenciennes in May 2009, remained at the helm until Christmas, but despite steering the club to the top of the table at the winter break, he was sacked. - The popular Kombouaré was replaced by sporting director Leonardo's friend Carlo Ancelotti, who had been out of work after being sacked by Chelsea despite having won the English League and Cup double in the season. - The second half of last season saw PSG engaged in a title tussle with Montpellier, but a bad run from Week 29 to 32 saw them lose momentum finish second, three points behind Montpellier and miss out on their first title since However, it was an improvement on their fourth place finish the season before. - In that period PSG drew with Bordeaux (1-1, Wk 29) and bottom club Auxerre (1-1, Wk 32), lost to Nancy (2-1, Wk 31) only their only win coming against Marseille (2-1, Wk 30). - PSG sporting director Leonardo has looked to Italy for his 100 million Euros-worth of acquisitions: Argentine striker Ezequiel Lavezzi (27) signed in July on a 30 million Euro, four-year deal from Napoli; Milan's Brazilian star Thiago Silva (27) then became the world's most expensive defender when he signed a five-year deal from AC Milan for a fee of 42 million Euros in July; Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic - also from AC Milan - put pen to paper on a three-year, 20 million euro deal. The 30-year-old is on reported wages of 1 million Euros a month (after tax) which some in the French Socialist government labelled as "indecent". - On the same day Ibrahimovic signed, Italy's U-21 midfield star Marco Verratti, whom some have compared to Andrea Pirlo, joined from promoted Serie A side Pescara for a fee of around 11 million Euros. - Nene was PSG's top scorer in the season with 21 goals (nine penalties).
