COLD STORAGE JiIDINGS QJISH JHJY 1 2 1945 ALL FISH Stocks of all frozen fish in Canada on July 1, amounted to 22,507,994 lb. of which 21,2 million lb. were Frozen Fresh and 1.3 million lb. Frozen Smoked, In these figures estimates of 7,7 million lb. Frozen Fresh and 250 thousand lb. Frozen Smoked are included for firms failing to report on time. These holdings are less by 5,1 million lb. Frozn Fresh and 785 thousand lb. Frozen Smoked than those at July 1, 1944. Compared with June 1, 1945 figures they are greater by 21,4 per cent Frozen Fresh and 11,0 per cent Frozen Smoked, The apparent net tintostorage movement for all classifications was 3,9 million lb. as compared with a similar movement of 6,9 million lb. during Juno 1944. COD Holdings of Frozgn Cod were 4,615,647 lb. consisting of 4,579,348 ib, Frozen Fresh and 36,99 lb. Frozen Smoked (fillets not included), The apparent net increase during June was 1,1 million lb. as compared with a similar movement of 2,7 million lb. In June 1944. The quantity reported as frozen during June was,424,229 lb. as compared with 4,390,313 lb. for the same nonth in 1944, but no estimate is made of freezings for firms failing to report, HADDOCK Stocks of frozen Haddock totalled 514,030 ib,, of which 452,471 lb. rere Frozen Fresh and 61559 lb. Frozen Smoked (not including fillets). IIadIck holdings were 353 thousand lb. less than at the same date last year and 50 thousand lb. more than the stocks on June 1 of this year. There were 135,133 lb. reported as having been frozen during June while for the corresponding month in 1944 the freezings were 413,574 lb. FILLETS Frozen smoked fillets of Cod, Haddock and other fish amounted to 989,014 lb. as compared with 1,502,220 lb. last year and 801,856 lb. last month. There were 766,058 lb. reported as frozen during June of this year. SALMON Frozen Salmon holdings at July 1 were 921484 lb. They were 412 thousand lb. less than last year and 39.6 per cent more than last month. The apparent net increase during June 1945 was 262 thousand lb. as compared with a similar movement of 129 thousand lb. during the same month in 1944. Freezings during June were 417,349 lb. without estimating for ltè firms. SEA HERRING Frozen stocks of herring, including Kippers, were 4,652,565 lb. being Fresh 4,472,674 lb. and Smoked 179,891 lb. Last year at the same date the combined figures were 4,064,503 lb. This stocks show a decrease of 1,5 million lb. from last nnth's holdings. The quantity reported as frvzeri during June was 78 thousand lb. as compared with freezings of 1,0 million lb. for June 1944, Some firms, however, have not yet reported. OTHER Other Frozen stocks amounted to 10,782,828 lb. Frozen Fresh and 32026 lb. Frozen Smoked, (not Including fillets). All other fish reported as having been frozen during June were 4.3 million lb. but some firms had not reported on time and no estimate is made of freezings.
