FISH BITES Miami wraps up its final homestand of the first half with the series finale of a three-game set against the Cincinnati Reds today at 1:10 p.m. Tom Koehler will take the mound for Miami for his 18 th start of the season; he is 0-1 in three career appearances against Cincinnati, with a 0.00 ERA (10.1/0). The Reds will send rookie left-hander Cody Reed to the hill for his first career appearance against the Marlins. Singing the national anthem today will be Lori McQuestion. The first 5,000 kids, ages 12 and under, will receive a Marlins Kids Wristband Set, courtesy of Avianca Airlines. Today is the second annual Yoga Day at Marlins Park; special event buyers will receive a Marlins-themed yoga mat and access to an hour-long yoga session on the field postgame. Miami went 3-6 on its recently concluded road trip, which saw Miami visit Detroit (0-2), Atlanta (1-2), Fort Bragg vs. Atlanta (1-0), and New York-NL (1-2). Following this brief three-game homestand, the Marlins will be off for four days for the All-Star break, which will feature four Marlins in the 2016 All-Star Game at Petco Park. Miami will begin the second half on the road, with three games at St. Louis (July 15-17) and four games at Philadelphia (July 18-21). YESTERDAY VS. CINCINNATI The Marlins climbed out of an early 2-1 deficit to take the middle game of this three-game set against the Reds, 4-2. Miami got on the board first, with J.T. Realmuto scoring on a passed ball in the first inning. Cincinnati tied the game in the second inning, and pushed across its final tally in the fourth to take the lead. Martín Prado, who led the offense with a 3x3 outing, put the Fish ahead with a two-run double to right field in the bottom half of the fifth. Miami would add an insurance run in the eighth inning on an RBI single by Giancarlo Stanton. Adam Conley picked up the win, holding the Reds to two runs on four hits (one home run) and one walk, with seven strikeouts, in 5.2 innings of work. David Phelps (1.0 ip), Kyle Barraclough (0.1), Fernando Rodney (1.0) and A.J. Ramos (1.0) combined for 3.1 scoreless innings in relief, with Ramos recording his 27 th save. SWEEP INFO Miami is going for its fourth series sweep of the season, and its fifth against Cincinnati all-time. The last time the Marlins swept the Reds was from May 23-25, 2003 in a three-game series at Cincinnati. The last time the Fish swept the Redlegs at home was in a two-game set from May 27-28, 1996. GOING RIGHT AGAINST THE LEFT Following yesterday's win, the Marlins now boast a.700 (14-6) winning percentage when facing left-handed starting pitchers this season, the best mark in baseball, ahead of the Giants (.657/23-12). Miami owns the fourth-best team batting average in the National League vs. left-handers at.265, behind Arizona (.284), San Diego (.283) and Washington (.274). Miami has two hitters who rank in the top five in the National League against southpaws in Martín Prado, who leads the NL with a.400 average (30x75), and Marcell Ozuna, who ranks fifth with a.370 average (27x73). MIAMI 500 The Marlins are guaranteed to finish the first half of the season above the.500 mark for the ninth time in Club history, and first time since 2009 (46-44;.511). Miami currently owns a.529 winning percentage, which would be the secondbest mark in Club history. The 1997 Marlins were 50-36 at the break, with a Franchise-best.581 winning percentage in the first half of the season. THE NEW FAB FIVE The Marlins currently have five qualifying batters hitting.300-or-better this year, which would mark the fifth time a team has had five-plus players batting.300-or-better at the All-Star break over the last 40 years. The last team with five players batting.300 or better at the All-Star break was Pittsburgh in 1999. The three other teams are Colorado in 1996, and Cincinnati in 1977 and '76. Martín Prado leads the way for Miami with a.323 average, and is followed by J.T. Realmuto (.319), Christian Yelich (.312), Marcell Ozuna (.306) and Derek Dietrich (.303). UP THE MIDDLE With the win yesterday Miami improved to 12-4 (.750) against teams in the National League Central this season, tied with the New York Mets for the best winning percentage among NL clubs. The Marlins have now won four straight against NL Central clubs, and eight of their last nine games against the division. HITTING THE BOOKS Overall record on this date: 8-5 The Marlins have combined to hit.273 (826x3025) this season, which leads the National League and would be the highest average at the All-Star break in club history.
