July 2003 Our next meeting is Tuesday, July 15 th at 7:30 pm. The Meeting June 17, 2003 We have five new members this month too. Yahoo! No president this time so there was no president s report. None of the board members wanted to give a report. Treasurer Don reported that he was going through the old files and found some old cash flow charts. Don showed an example of a report that he is trying to replicate. Don also reported that he is not in control of all the accounts that are under the Federation name. Steve Brooks reported on the progress of the County Fair booth. He has purchased the prizes to be raffled. First Prize: Ruger 17 HMM model 77, with a 3x9x32 Simmons scope. It has a hard case and comes with ammo. Second Prize: GPS System Third Prize: Buck hunting knife Fourth Prize: Motorola walkie-talkies. Fifth Prize: Rod and Reel Sixth Prize: Computer disc to make your own targets. Tickets will be available at every meeting so get your tickets while the lucky ones are still available. The price is $2 for one $5 for three or a book for $15. The fair will be Aug. 11-16 and more volunteers are still needed. Call Steve Brooks or one of the Federation officers. Leroy reported that the first mailing for the September Gun show will be the first week of July. The first mailing will be for vendors that were at the last show. If all tables are not reserved by August 1, then a second mailing to new vendors will be sent. The set up for the show will be 9/26/2003 the show will be 9/27-28/2003. Leah Ray is taking reservations for the tables. Mike Freestone wanted to withdraw his motion for the Federation to purchase the Trap equipment. After consideration, it was found that the equipment was old and out dated, also the Federation does not have a place to set up the equipment. Charles Phelan would like to thank every one who bought tickets for the Santa Fe Trail Rendezvous.

I thought I was going to have to announce that there would be no Sports Fest this year. But Jim Doerr volunteered to head up the Youth Fest for this year. Don agreed to help him to go through all the information from last year. To help contact Jim. ANNOUNCEMENTS The deadline for the newsletter is the first Friday of each month. You can reach me at 564-3651, or email me at ptnopt@fisi.net. If I m not home, I have an answering machine and I read my email every day (almost). Port-a-John information and help needed The board has been discussing the need for a less expensive outside toilet solution. It is costing us $100 per month for the current port-a-potties. (That s a lot of money each year.) We would like to talk to anyone out there who is knowledgeable about this. (Does anyone have any used port-a-johns that they would be willing to donate?) Are there alternatives or other ideas for dealing with this???? Please contact any one of the club officers and give us your input. Thank you. Outdoor Range Officer Out of Commission Due to a health problem, the outdoor range officer needs an assistant till January. Bond Kinney may be going in for surgery soon and will be unable to lift, carry, pull or do any of the physical duties of the outdoor range officer. He will be able to give directions for what needs to be done and moral support. Please call Bond Kinney at 564-3651 if you can lend a hand. Thank you! Baby Rattle Snake Please be careful when walking around the buildings and equipment. My kids and I were returning some equipment to the clubhouse classroom a couple of weeks ago and encountered a baby rattlesnake in the garage area. I ve never seen my son jump backwards so fast!!! The snake was only about a foot long, so with the help of a couple of members we got him out to the field. (Yes I know that they are just as deadly when they are little as when they are big.) I ve taught my kids to handle them with care and respect (the same way they would handle a gun). Please don t kill them if you come across them. I don t know about you but I would rather have a snake that makes noise kill deer mice that carry Haunta Virus.

Range Rules Range rules require that shooters pick up their used cartridge cases. If you don't reload place the cartridges cases in any of the many white buckets placed on the range. This also applies to shotgun hulls. P.S. Sorry if this is late this month. It s not the printer s fault. I have been quite distracted this month dealing with and going down to the Veteran s Administration Hospital in Albuquerque. If you have ever had to deal with getting the government to do something, you will understand. Thank you for your patience. Board Meeting Schedule The Board of Directors and Executive Officers meet every 1 st Monday of the month at 7pm. The members at large are welcome to attend.
