Use The 11 is designed for utomtic gs vlve proving (lekge test) bsed on the pressure proving principle. It is for use on gs-fired combustion plnt with or without vent pipe to tmosphere. In the cse of plnts with no vent pipe where stndrds pply, the notes given in «onnection exmples without vent pipe to tmosphere» must be observed. Used in connection with 1 or 2 commercilly vilble pressure switches, vlve proving is utomticlly initited with every burner strtup, either - prior to burner strtup - during the prepurge time if it lsts minimum of 60 seconds - immeditely fter controlled shutdown, or - on completion of the burner control s control sequence, e.g. t the end of the postpurge time The vlve proving test is bsed on the 2-stge pressure proving principle: 1. The vlve on the mins side is tested by evcuting the test spce nd by monitoring the tmospheric pressure in it. 2. The vlve on the burner side is checked by pressurizing the test spce nd by monitoring the gs pressure. If the pressure increses excessively during the first test phse clled «Test1», or decreses excessively during the second test phse clled «Test2», the 11. will inhibit burner strtup nd initite lockout. In tht cse, the lockout reset button will light up to indicte the fult. Remote indiction of the fult is lso possible. progrm indictor, which stops whenever fult occurs, indictes which of the vlves is leking. The 11 cn be reset either on the unit itself or vi n electric remote reset fcility. Wrning notes To void injury to persons, dmge to property or the environment, the following wrning notes must be observed. Function During the first phse of the vlve proving test clled «Test1», tmospheric pressure must exist in the length of pipe between the vlves to be tested. In plnts with vent pipe to tmosphere, tmospheric pressure is vilble if the vlve proving test is mde prior to or during the prepurge time. In plnts without vent pipe, tmospheric pressure is mde vilble s the vlve proving system opens the vlve on the burner side during evcuting the test spce (t). If the vlve proving test 11 is performed fter burner opertion, the vlve on the burner side fter the controlled shutdown cn be kept open until evcuting the test spce (t) hs elpsed, thus lowering the pressure in the test spce nd mking certin its gs content is burnt off in the combustion chmber during the postpurge time. Prerequisite for this procedure is suitble control progrm of the burner control s provided by burner controls type LF, LFL, LGK or L. The test spce is closed off fter evcution. During the first test phse «Test1», which then follows, the 11 checks with the pressure switch if the tmospheric pressure in the test spce is mintined. If the vlve on the mins side is leking, cusing the pressure to rise bove the switching point of the pressure switch, the 11 will trigger n lrm nd initite lockout. The progrm indictor then stops to indicte «Test1». If the pressure does not increse becuse the vlve closes correctly, the 11 continues its progrm with the second test phse «Test2». To this end, the vlve on the mins side is opened to mintin the gs pressure while the test spce (t3) is being filled. During the second test phse if the vlve on the burner side is leking this pressure must not fll below the switching point of the pressure switch. If it does, the 11 will initite lockout lso, thus preventing the burner from strting up. On successful completion of the second test phse, the 11 closes the internl control loop between terminls 3 nd 6 (circuit pth: terminl 3 - contct (r - terminls nd - contct - terminl 6). This control loop is normlly included in the burner control s strt control loop. fter the control loop hs been closed, the progrmming mechnism of the 11 returns to its strt position to switch itself off.
