Is it hot enough!!! Let's go to the beach.. By the time you read this we would have had our picnic at Hinckley and I am sure everyone had a great time. Thanks Ron Thanks to Don Hackley for arranging our dinner at the Landmark Tavern. It looked like about 30+ people showed for a fabulous meal. Excellent food and company. Don't forget to check the newsletter, web site and news blasts for all the exciting events planned for this summer. Golf, Kayaking, Camping and Happy Hours. Our trip chairs are doing a fantastic job on next seasons trips. More info to follow. Be sure and give a big thank you to Ron Geiskopf, Patty O'Hara, their team and everyone who helped put the Relay for Life together that made it a successful event. Great Job!! Our next Club event is the Boilermaker. Please support Andy Reath and the Club by signing up for the water station. We always need people to set up, clean up and pass out water and ice. Our station is the last official water station and runners really look for us. Come down and join us for a super day. Call Andy if you have any questions. If You Have an Event in the Upcoming Months, Please Contact the Vice President at VP@geskiclub.org to Schedule your Activity. Want more Summer Activities? We have set up an e-mail distribution list for anyone that wants to be able to contact other members to make plans to do additional activities like kayaking, biking, golf etc. To enroll in the summer activities distribution list send an e-mail to summeractivities_request@geskiclub.org. Please include your e-mail address in your message. Once you have been added to the distribution list you can send an e-mail to summeractivities@geskiclub.org and your e-mail will go out to everyone else on the list. So, if you want to let others know you are planning on kayaking this weekend at Moose River and open up for others to join you it will be easy to do just that! Another option also is to post information about plans you make that you want to open up to other members on the GE Ski Club Facebook page. Just post information on the activity, location and time to meet. BOILERMAKER - Sunday July 14 Volunteers are requested to be at the waterstop, corner of Whitesboro St and Cherry St, West Utica, at 6:30 AM for set up. Race route streets will start to be closed 6-6:30 AM. That will include Burstone Rd, Champlin Ave from Burstone to Whitesboro St, and Whitesboro Street from Champlin Ave. If you need to travel these streets you MUST do so before 6:30. If the streets are closed, the best way then is to take Oriskany Blvd. to the Patio drive inn. Turn onto Jason St, go one block, turn right on Erie Stand go to Kernan Ave. Water stop is one block up. There is some parking on the lot at the water stop but you cannot leave until the runners have finished. You may also park on Erie street and walk up to Whitesboro St. You may want to bring a chair(and coffee) as there is some rest time between set up and the race. 5k starts at 7:15, 15K starts at 8 AM. The race this year has a two hour time limit. We may get to hear more of the band and get some food and beer for a change. The pre-race volunteer party is Friday(7/12) night 5:30 PM. You will get your tickets for that in the mail. It will be at MVCC. You cannot get into the volunteer party without the ticket. T-shirts will be given out at the water stop. Anyone who did not sign up by the dead-line, is still welcome to come and help. Due to increased security (because of Boston), large bags, backpacks, coolers etc will not be allowed into the post race party, or there will be a special entrance and bags will be checked (no final decision on that yet). All volunteers are asked to be vigilant where they are, and if anything looks strange to tell someone or call 911. There may be reduced entrances to the brewery and checkpoints. Any questions, e-mail me at andyrr@verizon.net

Sorry for those that were not able to golf. The weather was great and a good time was had by all. Many thanks go out to Scott and Carrie at Heron Creek for getting the course in great shape and donating 2 greens fees for the Relay Raffle. We had a total of 26 golfers with the Partee Girls team of Melissa Penczek, Debbie Roberts, Christine St.Germaine and Jennifer Gugnacki bringing in the lowest score of 36. The other teams participating were: Bae'rs, The Foul Balls, The No Names, Blue No Lights, Fore Better or Worse and Ballboy Ron and 2 Spoiled Chicks. Longest Drives for the men was Matt W. and for the women was Debbie Roberts. Closest to the pin on Hole #8 over water was Paul Zajac 16' and Christine St.Germaine 19'10". Thanks again for everyone's donation to Relay for Life! Wayne This is not just a report of "Relay For Life" @ MVCC June 8th & 9th (i.e. what the team raised, what happened, who won the bike, etc...). This is a H-U-G-E T-H-A-N-K-Y-O-U letter. We would like to everyone who supported relay by purchasing raffle tickets, donating baskets, golfing, walking, buying luminaries, personal donations etc... Special thanks to the Board for their donation, to Paul Zajac and Anne Bazan for donating the printing of the Bike Raffle tickets, to Dick Sonne's Cycle & Fitness for the bike, to Scott and Carrie at Heron Creek Golf Course for hosting the Doug O'Hara Memorial Golf Outing and donating greens fees to raffle,to Joe Carino for not only making up goodie bags for all 26 golfers but embroidering the bags and golf towels, to Wayne Franz for coordinating the golf outing, to Liza Johnson and Conrad Dorn for getting donations including greens fees from Barker Brook and making a basket to raffle at relay, to Corkie Urbanik and Richard Joseph for the tomato pie and sausage bread to keep us fortified throughout the day and for making sure the Cancer Fact Signs were in place for all to see, to Linda Agen for assisting with the luminary decorating. A special note to Gracie Schell and Tom O'Hara for walking in the wee hours of the morning in Jim White's absence and Fran Roy for helping with setting up in the rain. Saturday evening we had a "rain-free" wonderful picnic and celebrated Mike Hardiman's 60th birthday (Kathy great cake and surprize). Our Flag display(decorations) were caught by the O-D and published in Sunday's paper. The Mohawk Valley Astronomy Club set up near our site and we were able to see Saturn as well as other stars.

Now what you all have been wondering. Our bike winner was Meg Meehan whose parents purchased the tickets at our Dining for a Cause at the "99 restaurant". We had other raffles..the golf basket winner was Linda Agen, the Beer basket winner was Pat Malin and the Kitchen basket winner was Joe Carino. Our final team total was $1,470 raised for the American Cancer Society. Thank you again for all your help and support. Team G.E.
