Laura Woomer and Zachary Calzada Represent the Best of Sharon s Fifth Grade! On Thursday, March 1 the Optimist Clubs of Forsyth County held the Elementary finals for its Oratorical Contest at the Forsyth County Board of Education Building. Sharon Elementary contestants, Laura Woomer and Zachary Calzada, earned their right to represent Sharon at the County level by winning first place in the Sharon Elementary Oratorical Contest, held on February 16. However, it was on March 1 that these two fifth graders gave their best oratorical performances yet, competing with other fifth graders across the district! Each student delivered their original speech on the topic, How My Optimism Helps Me Overcome Obstacles Official judges from the Optimist Club officiated and selected the winners based on overall poise, content, and delivery. Our own Laura Woomer was awarded the first place champion for the girls, bringing home the championship trophy to Sharon for the third year in a row! This is an incredible accomplishment and a true honor for Laura Woomer in Mrs. Brewer s class. We couldn't be more proud to have her represent Sharon Elementary! Congratulations, Laura!!!!
