1 RE-ENROLLMENT Re-enrollment for the school year will start today. You will receive an with a link to your child s re-enrollment form. If you have more than one child attending CIS, you will receive a separate form for each child. Please note, submitting your form may take a few seconds. Do not use your browser to leave the Submit Form page until you receive a confirmation. Your form will not be successfully submitted until you receive a confirmation message. If you plan to have your child attend CIS next year, we must receive their re -enrollment prior to Monday, March 13 at 4:30 p.m. After March 13, seats will be offered to students on the waitlist. Re-enrollment forms will be completed online and a seat deposit must be paid prior to the due date. Please contact Ms. Nancy, Admissions Officer at admissions@cayintschool.ky, if you have any questions. 2nd Annual Bike to School Day Children, parents, and faculty came to school by bike, scooter, foot, skateboard and stroller on Friday, February 24. The group started at the far end of Camana Bay at 7:45 a.m. and made their way to school as a part of CIS s commitment to ensuring healthy school habits. Participants were greeted with fruit and water when they completed the journey. All participants entered the campus with smiling faces, giggles and shouts of triumph. The event was organized by the Healthy School Committee and its facilitator, Ms. Lydia B. A special thank you to all for organizing such a great event again. 2 Spring Conyers Debate Community News Cont d Page 2 The CIS debate team ventured to St. Ignatius on Wednesday night, February 22, for the Spring Conyers Debate Tournament. CIS entered three teams in the novice division and three teams in the open division. A special congratulations to Tahiti S, Alia S, Sadie F and Maryn M for placing 1st-4th in the novice division. Pierce M and Caitlin S finished third overall in the open division. Charles S and Richard W finished 5th overall in the open division. Pierce finish as the 2nd place individual speaker in the open division and Richard W finish 8th overall in the open division. Great night for all the CIS debaters: Maryn M, Tahiti S, Simon D, Lilly L, Sadie F, Alia S, Caitlin S, Carl A, Pierce M, Charles S, Richard W. The CIS community is so proud of these students for participating in the formal debate. It was a wonderful experience and the students continue to learn by participating in these events.

3 CIASA Cayman National Championships Community News Cont d Page 3 This past weekend CIASA held the Cayman National Championship Swim Meet at the Camana Bay Sports Complex. This was a 4-day event with preliminary and final races each day from Thursday through Sunday. Swimmers between the ages 7-17 from the various swim clubs across the island participated. This meet was a key meet for those swimmers hoping to qualify for CARIFTA however the meet was also an opportunity for all swimmers to achieve personal bests, which many did! It also was an opportunity for island swimmers to make it to finals and stand on the podium to receive medals. Also at this meet, the newly formed Cayman Synchro Stars performed in the Opening Ceremonies and showcased their hard work and the sport of synchronized swimming the audience energetically supported these swimmers throughout their first public demonstration. 4 Page 4 Early Childhood and Elementary Headlines Wild Wild West in Pre-K3 Pre-K4 visits the Science Lab Ms. Jody s Pre-K4went to visit Ms.Dhara and Mr. Bill in the Science lab before creating their own science lab in the classroom. New Sea Grapes Trees on Playground The Grade Four Invasive Species Specialists have planted native sea grape plants around the play structures in the playground. There are four baby sea grape plants, very fragile and hoping to grow, surrounded by "caution" tape. The Grade Fours are very proud of their plants. They have a plan to add small informational plaques to explain why sea grapes are important to the environment and what needs to be done to care for them. Veterinarians Visit Nursery

5 Secondary Headlines Page 5 Secondary School Spirit Week IT S TIME TO START GETTING READY FOR A SPIRIT-FILLED, FUN WEEK AHEAD.The week we get back from break, Monday, March 6- Friday, March 10, The MS and HS Leadership teams have organized a SPIRIT WEEK! Mark your calendars, get your accessories, buy your CIS football T-Shirt, iron that tux and help us to spread the word! Monday- WaCkY Accessory Day Tuesday- Jersey Day Wear your favorite SPORTS TEAM Jersey! Wednesday- Choose your Adventure --Homeroom Themes- Each homeroom will decide on a theme/ dress of their choice- be creative! Thursday- Friday- - Science Fair!!! PEP RALLY IN THE AFTERNOON! Boys Basketball The CIS boys basketball team was in action again on Thursday, February 23, and defeated arch rival St. Ignatius The team continues to improve each week and notch important wins along the way. In Thursday s game, the team displayed great effort and teamwork. On offense, the team moved the ball well and often found wide open players. Secondary Snack Cart On Monday, March 6, Mise en Place will provide a snack cart at break for secondary students to purchase food items. Secondary snack is from 9:55 to 10:10 a.m. Students can purchase items with cash or use their school accounts. Monday is the first day of secondary Spirit Week, and the food cart is a great addition that will support a positive culture of socialization and connectedness for secondary students. Secondary Pep Rally On Thursday, March 9, there will be a Secondary Pep Rally before the basketball game against Hope Academy. The Pep Rally will begin at 3:00 p.m., and the basketball game against Hope will begin at 3:15 p.m. All secondary students will attend the Pep Rally, and they are encouraged to remain after school for the basketball game. All parents are invited to both as well. Go Iguanas!

6 Page 6 with Joni D I am Caymanian and was born and raised in Grand Cayman. My entire family is from the Cayman Islands. I came to CIS in grade 6 and this is my seventh year here. If I were to describe myself in a few words, I d say I m somewhat shy around new people however I love hanging out with my best friends. Describe your favorite family tradition. -My favorite family tradition is on Christmas when my whole family goes to my grandma s house for a big breakfast and we open presents. It makes the day really special. Other than schoolwork and studying, what activities do you enjoy? -I enjoy going to the beach and hanging out with my friends. What is one quality you admire most in others? -I admire genuinely funny people because I love to laugh. What is your favorite quote? Why? - Behind every dark cloud there is a silver lining - Unknown. My mom always used to tell me this when I was going through hard times and I ve always loved it. What is your dream job/career? Why? -My dream career is anything to do with photography/filming. I love working with technology and creating things.
