Christ the King Catholic High School February 18, 2017 Greetings, Crusader Families and Friends: We had a busy week at CTK, but the highlight for most of us came within the last hour of the school week. We had a fun pep rally (see p. 2) to celebrate all of the CTK sports teams and their accomplishments this year. We especially wanted to have a big send-off for the CTK swim team, which will compete at the state championship on Monday. As Coach Donahue would say, Go, Blue! Please find important information for upcoming events in this week s newsletter, including Monday s athletic tryouts, ACT testing for juniors, and service opportunities. 2 Celebration of Crusader Athletics As part of the pep rally fun, the different classes took on one another in friendly basketball games. The seniors beat out all of the other grades, but they fell short to the unstoppable CTK Faculty. Coach Harrington led in scoring, and Mr. Brawley led in blocks. It was a fun time for all. Maybe the students can make a comeback at the next showing!

5 GET INVOLVED! Amigos De Buddy : Volunteers are needed Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 3-4; volunteers do not have to sign up for each session. Amigos is designed to assist Spanish speaking students to receive support with homework, Science Fair, and other areas. You do not have to speak Spanish to be a volunteer! Contacts: Alex Koenigsberger or Ben Duckworth Wednesday Mornings : Room In the St. Marks Please join the Service Committee at St. Mark s on Wednesday mornings at St. Mark s at 5:30 AM to help serve the homeless. Tuesday, February 21: Huntersville Elementary School Multicultural Fair 5:00-8:00 pm. Volunteers are needed to to help man various stations during HES Multicultural Fair. The word love has a simple definition that is not difficult to understand. Catholic tradition tells us, quite simply, that love is a tendency toward the real. As St. Francis puts it in his Treatise on the Love of God "Love is the movement, effusion, and advancement of the heart toward the good." The meaning of love is simple enough but we should be artful when it comes to loving and cautious when it comes to recognizing that we are loved.
