Indoor Exhibits This is an opportunity to show off something the Clover Kids have created. It could be an informative poster, fresh baked cookies, a sewn pillow case, garden produce, or a picture they drew or painted. Often, Clover Kids clubs will create projects together for everyone to take to Indoor Judging day and exhibit at the fair. What happens at Indoor Judging Day? Each Clover Kids club is assigned a certain time to come and speak with the Clover Kids judges. During their assigned times, the judges will sit with the kids and talk with them about their projects. This is a great opportunity for Clover Kids to get quality practice for then they get their projects judged as 4-H ers. 4-H ers have 3 main questions they have to answer in a writeup about their projects. Clover Kids could also write these questions and answers out and present them with their projects to the judge. It would be great practice for when they re 4-Hers. A practice card is included below. Project Ideas sew a pillowcase, take a picture, bake cookies, make a Lego creation, upcycle or recycle materials, draw a picture, create a unique vegetable display, make a craft...the list could go on and on! Judging Schedule 9:00am Baldwin, Bellevue, Maquoketa 10:00am Preston/Miles, Andrew Use this goal card as practice, or make copies to include with your projects you bring to the fair. Name: Clover Kids Club: Andrew Baldwin Bellevue Maquoketa Preston/Miles 1. What was your goal? What did you want to learn? 2. What steps did you take to make your project? 3. What did you learn? What do you want to try next year?
Livestock Shows This is the Clover Kid s chance to participate in livestock shows like the older 4-H ers. There is a bucket bottle calf, lamb and kid, rabbit, and pet show they can participate in. What happens on show day? For each show, the animal will be inspected by a veterinarian prior to the show unless they are using another 4-H ers animal. This is for the safety of the people and other animals involved, to make sure the animal is healthy and able to be at the fair. After the check, the Clover Kids and their animals will participate in the show. The format is like a normal livestock show, just a little less formal and more fun for the Clover Kids. They might be able to say their name in to the mic, talk about their animal, or the judge may ask them a few fun questions about their animals. What s the judge looking for? The judge will mainly be wanting to see that the Clover Kid is having fun while safely and properly exhibiting their animals. They ll want to be clean and neat, and try to handle their animal with minimal assistance from an adult. A parent/guardian will need to accompany the exhibitor into the show ring in case they need might some extra help.
