1 Welcome JENNA!!! Learn with HCE STITCH & SEW Please help in welcoming Jenna Ward into our 4-H Community! Jenna is our new 4-H Program Coordinator for DeWitt, Macon and Piatt Counties and her focus is on STEAM programming. Monday, June 25 10:00am-12:00pm U of I Extension Office, Macon County Open to youth ages Jenna was a 10 year Macon County 4-H Member and recently worked at the Macon County Conservation District before getting this position. We are looking forward to seeing what she has in store for our Unit! No previous sewing experience is required for this fun workshop! Participants will have one-onone instruction with the HCE ladies to learn how to make two pillow cases. Participants will make give back to the community by donating one pillowcase to the Ronald McDonald House and also make one to take home. What s in Your Kitchen? 4-H KITCHEN SCIENCE June 26 & 28, July 3 & 5 2:00-3:00pm Barclay Public Library, Warrensburg Open to youth going into 2nd-5th grades Discover the science hidden in your kitchen! Over the course of four sessions participants will have the opportunity to make slime, bouncy balls, ice cream in a bag and fit an egg into a bottle! This is a FREE program. Macon, DeWitt & Piatt 4-H FISHING DERBY Saturday, July 21 3:00-6:00pm 4-H Memorial Camp Monticello $10 for 4-H Members $15 for Prospective 4-H Members Participants aged 8-18 are invited to a fun afternoon of fishing at 4-H Memorial Camp followed by a campfire and hot dog roast. To Make The BEST BETTER Agriculture OLYMPICS Thursday, July 12 6:00pm DeWitt County Fairgrounds, Clinton Kick off the 2018 DeWitt-Macon-Piatt Fair by competing against other exhibitors for a chance to win bragging rights and prizes. Hosted by the DeWitt, Macon and Piatt County Farm Bureau Young Leaders, the Agriculture Olympics will consist of five events. There will also be an alumni/parent division egg toss competition. All competitors are asked to be of 4-H/FFA age. Gather at the East Horse Arena starting at 6:00pm, each participant will receive a prize!

2 Public PRESENTATIONS CONGRATULATIONS to Alex Richard and Brenden Turnbo who represented Macon County in the State Public Presentations Contest on June 9th. Both are 4-H West End Harvesters members and did a wonderful job during their presentations and came home with medals and 4-H Swag. Master SHOWMANSHIP New this year for Master Showmanship! Anyone participation in Jr. or Sr. Master Showmanship must show Kylie Covalesky that you are capable of handling a lamb, pig, and calf. You may set up a time with her between Friday July 13th starting at 2pm and ending Saturday July 14th at 3pm. If you do not meet with her, you will not be allowed to show. You must also attend the mandatory meeting held at 12pm on July 14th. If you are showing at that time, a guardian may come instead. You may her at kirvin215@gmail.com or her cell is to set up a time or to register for the competition. 4-H SCREAM received a grant from the Macon County 4-H and Extension Foundation to build a Pollinator Garden at the Extension Office. This is their club community service project. The club members worked really hard to build and plant this garden and their hard work is paying off! Almost a month later and the garden is growing and thriving! State Fair Livestock SIGN UP NOW! Update on RABBIT & POULTRY Premium Books and Entry Forms are now available here. Please be sure to read all of the rules and deadlines. No late entries are allowed! A meat pen may not be separated and shown as individuals.
