2 PAGE 2 The Livestock Scales will be open this summer for you to Weigh your animals. Please remember that this is a privilege and to take care of the equipment and facilities. You need to clean up after yourself and be prepared to handle your own livestock. Representatives from the Livestock Committee of the Fair Board will be there to open the scales and monitor folks weighing animals. Please remember that bringing your animals to the Fair Grounds scales is a risk of Bio-Security and you need to keep sanitation in mind. Dates: Scales will be open 4:00PM-6:00PM July 19th August 2nd Please Remember to contact the Extension Office if your animal has lost its ear tag, or if it is sick or dies. Moffat County 4-Hers and Families: It is that time again that all of us are beginning to get prepared for the County Fair, we are busy getting campers ready, the show box and competing in project areas. We are excited and stressed at the same time but we know that it is all worth it and eagerly wait with anticipation on what this years fair season will bring. At this exciting time it is important for us to remember how fortunate we are to have a program like we do and all of the great volunteers that make it possible. It is also important to think about what you have done as a 4-H member to give back to the community, the volunteers, and the 4-H program that treats you so well and the community that supports you. Think about what it means to be a 4-H member or a 4-H family in Moffat County, and what you have done this year to contribute back to the program and the community. 4-H focuses on building future leaders and promotes youth development, utilize what you re obtaining in your community clubs and from the 4-H program TO BE THE BEST YOU CAN BE! The Extension Office wishes all of you luck at County Fair and enjoy time with family and friends!

3 PAGE 3 4-H Projects Please don t hesitate to contact your project leaders or the Extension Office if you have any questions pertaining to your projects and the requirements for completion of those projects. Remember that every project in the 4-H program must have a completed record book turned in on the required date. General Project Members: If you are awarded the opportunity to go to the Colorado State Fair you will need to have your projects to the Extension Office on Monday August 14th in order for the Extension Office to deliver your projects to Pueblo on Tuesday the 15th. All projects need to be packaged and ready for travel when they are brought to the Extension Office. The Extension Office and the delivery crew are not responsible for any lost or damaged projects. Animal Care and Housing Form All 4-H members with livestock and horse projects will be required to have a completed, signed, and approved Animal Care and Housing Form for Colorado 4-H Livestock Projects on file at their county Extension Office at time of enrollment. It is highly recommended that Colorado 4-H Livestock project animals (beef and dairy cattle, sheep, swine, goat, poultry, llama and horse) have a premises registration with the National Animal Identification System. This form is required and must be filled out completely and be approved in order to participate in an animal project in Moffat County and to be a 4-H member in good standing. ALL 4-H MEMBERS: Please be aware that the 4-H Dress Code will be enforced during all 4-H functions including the Moffat County Fair. Attention The Extension Office has updated its website! We will be putting the newsletters and other information on there for our members and families to use. Please check out the website and utilize the info.

OLD Geezer Alumni Show This year the Moffat County 4-H Council is sponsoring the Old Geezer cattle show that will be after the Market Beef show at Fair. This show is for the public to get involved and have the opportunity to show a steer or heifer in a showmanship atmosphere. The proceeds of this event will go to the Moffat County 4-H Council to help pay for district and state trips that the council travels to. Awards for this year will be given to the best showman and the best costume. Livestock Bio-Security We want to remind everyone with livestock that we need to be extra cautious about Bio-Security. Make sure that your animals are coming to fair healthy and that you take extra care of keeping things clean when at fair. Swine Check-In and Weigh-In: You will not be able to unload your pigs into the hog barn to pen or weigh until they have been vet inspected. This will prevent any sick pigs coming into the barn and contaminating the rest of the hogs to ensure a safe environment and to ensure that are youth will get to show and sell an animal. Please keep in mind that if you take any animals home from County Fair, they should be quarantined from other livestock for at least a week to prevent and disease or sickness transfer.
