Just Dance Page 3 The Locker Room & Keeping Your Items Secure A locker is provided for each and every dance student. However, each student needs to provide their own COMBINATION lock because all students are required to lock up all of their belongings every day. Students are not permitted to share their locker combination with anyone nor are they allowed to share lockers!!! In addition, students are not permitted to use cell phones when in the locker room, especially as cameras as it is important that we protect the privacy of each student using the locker room. Also, remember to label all dancewear with students initials in permanent marker so it can be returned to you if it is lost and then found. Dance students earn the grade Dance students earn grades by combining 3 categories to make 100%: Personal Engagement (40%), Formative Assessments (30%), and Summative Assessments (30%). The Personal Engagement category demonstrates the students ability to dress out fully thus being able to be actively engaged in daily lesson; the Formative Assessments are daily assignments, games and activities that are developed to gauge the students progress throughout the unit; and finally, the Summative Assessments consist of the end of unit written quizzes and performance quizzes. Late work is accepted 1 day late for a maximum of 70, and students have 1 day per day absent to make up missed work including performance quizzes. Dance Grades Broken Down When you dance, your purpose is not to get to a certain place on the floor. It s to enjoy each step along the way. -Wayne Dyer 40% Personal Engagement Personal Engagement Grades are tabulated as follows: 100/week o No Dance Clothes = -10 o Dressed out but not Dance Attire = -5 o No Dance Tshirt = -5 o No Dance Pants = -5 o Wearing Jewelry = -5 o Hair Down = -5 o Chewing Gum/Candy/Food = -5 30% Formative Assessments 30% Summative Assessments
