PROUCT SCRIPTION The constant evelopment of plants, the growth an the moifications of factories, the prouction technology progress, the strong push to automation are asking for pressure air plants correctly size an easy moifiable. The PURSTRAM by Aircom was expressly esigne an evelope for the elivery an istribution of compresse air. Materials an connection peculiarity allow the assembling of flexible plants; these can be integrate by all the Aircom components an work out all the problems an the nees of the more complex plants. Perfect hyraulic seal, remarkable mechanical enurance an efficiency in the time are guarantee, in spite off the easy an quick installation. CORROSION The special aluminium alloy of pipes, coate by hot electroctrostatic paint, the aluminium alloy an special coating of cast injecte fittings, the tecnoplymers of Q fittings an components, create a corrosion-free pipeline both in internal an external surface. This guarantee, at least, 50 year life of the prouct uner normal working conitions. IMPACT RSISTANC The materials guarantee excellent performance relating to mechanical resistance an internal pressure resistance. The pipeline can support violent impacts. U.V. RAYS U.V. rays o not affect aluminium. For this reason the PURSTRAM pipes can be laye inoor an outoor. FIR RSISTANC The aluminium alloy of the pipes allows an excellent fire resistance (flames cannot sprea or progress) AIR IVRY Because of the low friction factor an the large insie pipe section, the PURSTRAM by Aircom offers higher air elivery then others pipes at the corresponing insie iameter. INSTAATION PURSTRAM by Aircom allows the highest flexibility an integrability to any other kin of system an, off course, to all the others AIRCOM systems. The absolutely quick an easy installation allows to get "zero" waiting time before starting the plant. IMNSIONS AN STANAR All the items of PURSTRAM by Aircom are in accorance to aapt to USA stanars as regars to pipes, fittings an valves uner pressure. COMPRSSORS OI COMPATIBIITY Normally the PURSTRAM by Aircom components can work with a large range of lubricating oils for compressors. A etaile list is continually upate. PANT SIGN There are two way to esign a main line: through a single way pipeline (the line start from the compressor following all the connections up to the farest one) or through a close ring (the line start an go back to the compressor). The ring is usually the avisable solution because of a more equilibrate elivery an because it makes possible, with valves, to cut parts af the plant in orer to set, moify, or enlarge the pipeline without complete stop of the air elivery in the firm. The volume of the ring-line forms an air-storage, helping to keep the pressure value constant, especially uring strong an suen air requests. To calculate the imension of the main pipe ring, we must know all etaile ata of each tool, machine, equipement etc. regaring the air comsumption, usually expresse in cubic feet per minute (cfm), an the correct working pressure value (min an max). So, the rigth imensioning of a main line, nees to consier several factors as following: 1. Air Flow Rate The flow rate is estimate on the basis of the ifferent users as well as on the operation frequency of all users ; the total average flow rate of all off takes will show the the maximum necessary quantity for the main pipeline. A certain precautionary increasean an estimate of future increase is to be ae to the above value. This atum will allow us to size the compressor to be installe an consequently other necessary elements ( receiver, main filter, oil separator, rier etc.). 2. Compressors - Inicative Air elivery The following table shows the air elivery values available for compressors with ifferent powers. KW 3 4 5,5 7,5 11 12,5 15 18 22 29 37 45 55 74 92 110 132 170 200 CV 2 4 6 7,5 10 15 17 20 25 30 40 50 60 75 100 125 150 180 230 270 cfm 9 15 20 35 45 65 75 95 110 130 170 205 260 315 445 555 665 780 960 1150 3. Working Pressure an oss of Charge The esigne must fix the minimum neee pressure for each user an its position: far from compressor the available pressure will ecrease because of many reasons: - Air riers, filters - rop legs - Restrictions (valvs etc.) - Frictions from the flow spee - Pipe section changes, irection changes, elbows, fittings an other accessories In orer to get a rigth plant imensioning, we must think of losses of charge ue to fittings.this value change time by time accoring to the quantity an the shape of them. P U R S T R A M pipes an fittings for compresse air 7

The table below inicates the corresponence to pipe feet for every assemble fitting. The equivalent length obtaine from all fittings will be ae to the average length of the installe pipe. INAR TRMA XPANSION/CONTRACTION All materials change their imensions accoring to temperature variations; usually plastic materials are liable to higher variations than metals. Consiering the installation temperature as a reference: - they expan when temperature rises, - they contract when temperature ecrease. The main general consequences of expansions an contractions are: XPANSION FFCTS Buckling of a pipeline segment inclue between two fixe points. Compression of brackets, machines connections an/or other equipments which form fixe ponts with risk of stressing an breaking them. NUTRA CONITION The are no visible bucklings ue to expansion/contraction. This conition mostly occurs uring the installation, provie that the room temperature is not subject to excessive variations. CONTRACTION FFCTS Pipelines traction of a segment inclue between two fixe points. Traction of thebrackets, machines connections an /or other equipments which form fixe ponts with risk of stressing an breaking them. In orer to avoi that compression/traction effects may cause heavy amages to the plant (in aition to aesthetic efects), it is necessary to observe the following rules to allow free sliing of pipes an to compensate pipe s expansion/contraction: - support an bracket the pipeline in orer to allow pipeline free sliing between two fixe points; - insert a compensator between two fixe points if they are positione at a istance which may cause sensible contractions/expansions. The measure of these variations is given by the linear expansion coefficient for PURSTRAM by Aircom with aluminum pipe this coefficient is 0,023 mm/m/ C that means 0,023 inch per feet per F egree for PURSTRAM by Aircom with CASSIC pipe this coefficient is 0,075 mm/m/ C that means 0,023 inch per feet per F egree P U R S T R A M pipes an fittings for compresse air 15

BRACKTING MTO Special attention has to be pai in choosing pipe brackets. They have to meet some requirements: 1. they have to anchor the pipeline to the holing structure steaily; 2. they must not, in any way, scratch or amage the pipe; 3. they must leave sufficient space between the pipeline an the wall or other obstacles to allow confortable maintenance or other operations ; 4. the must hol the pipeline perfectly straight an support the pipeline itself an all sliing accessories weight. Great attention has to be pai in bracketing of heavy accessories an valves; their anchoring has to be inepenent from the pipe one as they are subject to operation stresses an must allow assembly an isassembly. Bracketing an fixing of pipelines ens (caps, appliques, escents) have to be execute accurately to prevent amages in case of explosion. SAFTY INSTRUCTIONS AIRCOM system has been esigne to carry fluis uner pressure. The installer has to follow safe working proceures an to observe all requirements an local stanars concerning working safety. Installation, operation, maintenance an repairs have to be one by authorize, qualifie an specialize personnel following what state by stanars an laws. Before carrying out any maintenance, repair, ajustment or non-routine control operation, epressurize the system an isolate it accurately from any pressure source. o not use any component in a ifferent manner from what state by the proucer. AIRCOM pipes an fittings are not suitable for burie or embee plants. o not use AIRCOM system as a support for electrical equipments or as a conuctor in grouning thir machineries or equipments. Use correct tools only. Use original spare parts only. Plastics fittings are sensitive to UV: in case provie an aeguate protection. The aluminium pipes offer a full UV resistance. Never ben or wel the pipes. Aircom pipelines must be protecte from har impacts. Before connecting, pipes must be free the of en protection caps. Avoi solvents or chemical agents that shoul amage the pipeline components. Check AIRCOM pipes surface before the installation (they have to show no scratches, abrasions or ents). Never connect AIRCOM pipes to a vibrations source; if necessary, use hoses. Before operating a system the technician has to verify its complying with all tests, controls an stanars which apply to compresse air plants. At the initial starting, submit the system to a test pressure of 20 PSI to check possible leakages or efective joints. After the inspection, increase the pressure graually an constantly (max. 15 PSI every 30 secons). The pipeline has to be groune. Where polymer fittings are use it is necessary to connect pipe bars with a copper plait of suitable section using a couple of collar terminals for each pipe bar. 10 YARS AIRCOM WARANTY Following the high quality performances of AIRCOM proucts, we offer our customers a 10 years warranty against possible amages ue to faulty materials of aluminium pipes or AIRCOM fittings. All proucts are guarantee if use as inicate an only within the limits foreseen by the present technical catalogue an they fulfil the RS (Safety ssential Requirements) accoring to what state by the irective 97/23/C P. uring the installation an at its en it's avisable anyway to make specific checks an a final test. 1. Inspection After the assembling it's avisable to check the presence of anomalies, shocks, cuts an abrasions, to inspect that the bracketing an the execution of the plant are in accorance with the project. In case of anomalies it is necessary to replace immeiately efective parts or parts ifferent from the esign. Check that all supporting brackets are installe correctly. Check that a ischarge valve has been installe an that it is working. Close all ischarge points. Check the maximum service pressure of any component (valves, reucers, filters, balancers, etc.) 2. Pressurisation of the system It s absolutely necessary that the whole working area is clear before pressurization of the plant. The hyraulic pressure test (with water) can be carrie at 300 PSI; in one hour the pressure loss can achieve 6% max. ue to ajustment no leakages shoul appear an the test can be consiere positively settle after two hours. The pneumatic test is to be carrie out with air at a pressure level between of 1,2 an times max. service pressure, foreseen or accoring to esign. Any components with test pressure lower than the state one (valves, reucers, filters, balancers, etc.) are to be cut off by means of suitable segmentings. They will also reuce the reuction of the test pressure. 3. Analisys of the pressure loss (pnumatic test) After twenty minutes form the first setting in pressure it s avisable to restore the test pressure in the plant in orer to balance any ajustment, 6% approx., an the air cooling, 5% approx. The test can be consiere passe if no leakages showe after two hours, excluing any variation ue to thermal exchanges. It s avisable to carry out the pneumatic tests keeping in min the following points: a. The test flui can t be any flammable or toxic gas. b. Before reaching the foreseen test pressure, make a preliminary test up to 20 PSI so to check any losses an/or incomplete or imperfect connections in avance. c. After all checkings an ajustments, keep the pressure at 20 PSI waiting 5 minutes at least before the following raise. We suggest always to raise the pressure graually an constantly (15 PSI every 4-6 secons ) up to the reaching of the foreseen pressure. 20 P U R S T R A M pipes an fittings for compresse air

NRGY SAVING AN FFICINTY IN INUSTRY In recent ecaes energy management has taken on an increasing importance in inustry. This expression refers to a variety of mechanisms an economic, managerial, strategic, bureaucratic assessments that are nowaays require in any kin of inustry using energy. On one han, fossil fuel prices are rising significantly, pushing up electric energy costs, which represent a consistent amount of the company costs, while on the other sie recent legislation on environmental protection impose limits) in emissions from power plants(an the tren is towars an increase of these limitations. In this context, those company foun themselves between the requirement of prouction, increase an the reuction of energy costs incompliance with the environment protection requirements. Aircom has recently launche a project intene to achieve appreciable energy savings achievable through the proper sizing an a targete use of materials in installations for the transport an istribution of compresse air, both of new construction or existing, thorugh a etaile analysis of prouction cycle an energy use. Aircom makes available to esigners, users an maintainers, esign / monitoring / control tools aime to etermine, in a quick an unambiguous manner, the real value of energy nees, in relation to the real amount of compresse air actually neee by users (mc / h) in relation with components changes or, on the same basis, the verify of existing plant performances. Base on the results of research it's also possible the realization of improve geometric shapes, the use of ifferent materials, both for iniviual components, an for the whole construction. These actions coul reuce significantly the costs of energy. NRGY SAVINGS ANAYSIS IN COMPRSS AIR ISTRIBUTION Compresse air plants are present in many ifferent inustrial sectors (whole inustry, hancrafts, agriculture, etc..) where the flui is use as a riving force to operate equipments, machinery, tools an accessories. The optimum istribution of pneumatic energy shoul reach following targets: maintain pressure (minimum pressure rops ue to narrowing in the pipe) reuction / elimination of leakages Galvanize pipe AIRCOM pipe AIRCOM pipe grant the best air quality (lack of rust, ust, water, oil, etc...). Galvanize pipe The factors that affect the overall performance of the system (from beginning to final use) belong basically to 2 categories: pressure rops an loss of air (concentrate an istribute) on which our attention shoul be focuse. Pressure rops are mainly ue to wrong layout an sizing of the istribution network an of accessories, compare to the changes in eman an prouction of pneumatic energy. ifferentiate levels of pressure an air treatment play both a significant role in the elivery of a certain volume of air. The losses ue to leakage shoul be ientifie an surveye. The analysis of the amount of pneumatic energy prouce,an necessary for correct functioning of factory utilities, an measurement of pressure changes in the network will give us the opportunity to check its size, knowing wasteful an justify interventions programs. 80% of existing istribution networks of compresse air cause wastage of up to 50% of the use energy.
