Welcome to Bowhuntz is owned by myself & my wife Mia Sloan. We SPECIALIZE in assisting bow hunters in finding, selecting, and arranging their dream archery hunt. Bowhuntz is here today because over the last 19 years as a guide and outfitter I ve listened to story after story of hunters that have booked an Elk hunt, a trip to New Zealand, or an African Safari only to come home with no animals or animals they were forced to hunt with a rifle because the bowhunting opportunites were non-existent. The single most important thing a hunter needs to understand is that there is a day and night difference between an outfitter that offers bow hunting and an outfitter that specializes in bow hunting. We are here to make sure when you book the bow hunt of your dreams that is exactly what you get. I started bowhunting when I was 8 years old and spent my youth bowhunting West Texas and the Rocky Mountains. Some of the hunts were self guided, others were outfitted, and the rest were following my Dad around the Mountains learning from him. At the age of 18 I began my professional hunting career as an apprentice PH (professional hunter) at a well known bow hunting only company in South Africa. I spent the next 5 years guiding and learning from some of the best in Africa but I always had ambitions of starting my own company. In 2004 I started Choronga Safaris which specializes in bow huting safaris in Southern Africa for Plains and Dangerous game. Over the last 15 years I have developed countless relationships with some of the best bow hunting operators in our industry around the world. Physical Requirements These hunts are usually farm/ranch/estate hunts and most hunting is done from blinds or tree stands. Most wingshooting and fishing trips fall into this category as well as African plains game hunts and whitetail deer. Hunts are usually on private ranches and may include walking and stalking plains game in Africa, Caribou, as well as other species in hilly terrain. Moderate physical hunts such as walk and stalk mule deer, elk, and other animals in semi-mountainous terrain. Wilderness hunts including horseback hunting in the mountains fall into this category. Bad weather conditions may also play a role in the physicality. Dangerous game such as Cape Buffalo and Elephant also fall into the number 4 category. These are your extreme mountain, alpine, and cold weather hunts and only the most athletic and physically fit hunters should attempt these trips. # Bots 01 The camp is located in the famous Tuli Block of Botswana. All hunting is based out of a beautiful tent camp on a private ranch. Hunting is done on 2 properties consisting of over 20,000 acres setup for bow hunting. Both walk and stalk as well as blind hunting are available. From blinds average shots are less than 25 yards. Pickup/Dropoff is either from Johannesburg, South Africa with a 4.5 hour drive up to the concession crossing the border at Stockpoort border crossing. OR flying up to Gaborone, Botswana and driving 2.5 hours to conession. # RSA 01 This outfitter is based in the bushveld of the Limpopo Province of South Africa and is one of the very best bow hunting outfitters in all of Africa. Hunting is conducted on over 25,000 acres of archery only properties owned and/or managed exclusively by this outfitter. Both walk and stalk as well as blind hunting are available. # RSA 03 This outfitter is based an hours drive from Port Elizabeth. Clients fly into Johannesburg and connect down to the Eastern Cape. This area has some phenomenal walk and stalk opportunites as well as great blinds for bow hunting. The area has an abundance of small game such as Blue Duiker, Klipspringer, and Grysbok. All of your general plains game occur on the main ranch. Big Bull Lechwe, hunting Caracal with hounds, and Bushpig are some of this outfitters specialties. # Zim 02 This outfitter operates most bow hunts out of the Save & IPZ Conservancies in Zimbabwe but does have access to many other phenomenal bow hunting areas across the country. Leopard, Buffalo, and plains game are the best species to bow hunt in these areas. This outfitter is a past president of the Zimbabwe Professional Hunters Asstociation and was awared the country s Bow Hunter of the Year award in 2016. Plains game are hunted from blinds, Buffalo walk and stalk, and Leopard hunted from blinds over baits. # Moz 01 This outfitter is one of the largest and well known outfits in Mozambique and a couple years ago set aside huge tracts of land specifically for bow hunting. Blind hunting is succesful in late season hunts but you will mostly be walking and stalking 2000 square miles of wilderness. for most of your safari. These areas offer a wide variety of animals to hunt ranging from Elephant all the way down to the tiny Suni. Hunters will fly into Johannesburg and connect through to Mozambique. # Uga 01 This outfitter has been in the bow hunting industry for his entire adult life and has hunted most of the African Continent. He is based in South Africa but recently gained access to 3 phenomenal areas across Uganda for some very specialized bow hunting. Most hunting will be walk and stalk with some popups and bush hides being used. This is not your typical first time African Safari. Bow hunters with some African Experience and who are proficent out to 80 yards will be very successful in these areas and take home several great bow hunted trophies. # NZ 01 This outfitter is based on the South Island of New Zealand 2.5 hours away from the town of Christchurch. They offer some of the most picturesque and successful bow hunts in New Zealand. # Mex 01 This outfitter operates on their home ranch which encompasses 20,000 acres (8,000 ha) located in the Tinaja Verde mountains, approximately 35 miles southwest of Presidio, TX., which was a historic habitat of the desert bighorn sheep. The ranch has a sheep population of over 400 animals. The area is also littered with trophy Mule Deer. You can expect a 100% bow hunting opportunity in this area on free range Desert Bighorn Sheep.
