me know if you would like your dancer to compete their specialty and/ or small groups prior to Jan 21 st. Competition Expectations: All dancers & parents are representing IDA at Competitions Competition Dos and Don ts Do get your dancer to competition on time! Don t leave early or skip awards. Do pack healthy lunch/snacks & water for your dancer. Don t give your dancer a lot of sugary foods, they will crash Competitions are long days. & will not be able to perform at their best. Do sit with other parents at competition to cheer on IDA Don t over work your dancer before they go on stage. Once Dancers. you help them get ready for their dance & drop them off at home base it is the IDA Staff s job to get them prepared for competition. Do wear your IDA Spirit wear or IDA colors. Don t try to pick apart why one dance did better than another. The judging is subjective & each competition is different. Do be careful what you are saying about another company or IDA at competition. People are all around you & you don t know who you might be sitting next to. We don t want to cut down another person s child or your own team! Do have your dancer arrive early and stay to support the other levels of IDA when they perform. Everyone deserves an audience & support from their teammates. Don t ask instructors and staff right after your dancer performed what they did wrong when your dancer is standing next to you. Also, don t ask an instructor, parents or student to critique a dance at competition. We will review their performance at the next rehearsal. Don t get in heated arguments with your dancer, another parent, or a competition or IDA staff member at competition. Remember we are all representing IDA. Arrival Call Time: Dancers must arrive to the competition 2 hours before their first dance with their hair & makeup finished & in their IDA Company /Team jacket. Upon arrival dancers are to check-in at home base, place their belongings in the dressing room assigned or where most IDA dancers are located & change into their first costume. They have a half hour to get their stuff together from check-in to when they must be back at home base to warm up. During the competition all dancers must stay at home base until after they perform. If they have another dance to get ready for, they must return to the dressing room & change into their next costume & return to home base. Dancers are welcome to watch the competition if they have a break however they must sit together or with their parent. I would like all dancers to give each other positive reinforcement & feedback to their teammates. IDA staff and instructors will not chase dancers down; they must be responsible to get themselves to home base. Awards: All dancers must stay for awards for all their dances. For group dances there is to be only 1 dancer to receive the award that I will assign. After awards dancers are to return all trophies to home base to give to an instructor. All Dancers must act in a respectful manner onstage and look presentable for awards. Dancers must wear their company jacket, zipped up, over their costume or with black leggings. Jackets must be clean.
Dancers may not wear slippers, street shoes, or flip flops, or socks on stage. The following is acceptable: jazz shoes, hip hop sneakers, turners, or bare feet. Dancer s hair must be neatly pulled back. Dancers are not to chew gum on stage. Be Prepared & Organized: Make a list & pack before the competition! Check it twice! Pack costumes extra tights, shoes, makeup, hair accessories, jewelry, etc. Make a list of costumes and accessories in routine order so dancers know what dance comes next when changing costumes. Be sure to know the location of the competition and how to get there. Have your contact list. Be prepared to arrive to the competition prior to your call time. Competitions tend to run early! Try to be calm for you dances sake, there will be seasoned parents, older dancers, & instructors to help! Competition Communication: I will send out an email with competition location, directions, dance line up, information, & other details regarding the competition. Please look out of this email approx. 1 week prior to competition. Sometimes this information will come out the week before competition & may change throughout the week. I will keep you updated. Other: Do Not record or take pictures of dances on stage! This is against competition rules and our dances can become disqualified or have pointes taken off. DVDs & Pictures will be available to purchase, and most competitions will have a group discount if multiple families purchase all dances together. For In10sity, all dancers will be charged a one-time media fee at each In10sity Dance competition (this is included in your competition fees). In exchange, you will receive all photos and videos from the entire competition via digital download. Individual photos and videos are not available for purchase at any In10sity Dance event.
