Chalet Killington features A Jacuzzi, Sauna, Game Room, Free Mountain Shuttle and 2 Breakfasts are Included. The Accommodations are for Double Occupancy. This Trip includes a 3 Day Lift Ticket, Slope Side Lodging-Double Occupancy, 3 Country Breakfasts, 2 Dinners at the Alpine Room Restaurant. Hotel Jay also has a Sauna, Hot Tub and Game Room. Jay Peak has a 1815 Base Elevation, a 2153 ft Vertical & 76 Trails. The Mountain is 20% Novice, 40% Intermediate & 40% Advanced. Ski with us Mid-Week and avoid the Crowds!! The Cost for this 3-Day trip is $505. For the X-C Skier or Non-Skier, the cost is $450. There are Over 20 km of X-C Ski Trails on their Golf Course and Surrounding areas. Windham has 1600 vertical, Summit Elevation of 3100, 700 Acres of Skiing & 9 Lifts. They are giving us a good Deal on Lift Tickets. We ll purchase a ticket individually at one of their Ticket Windows for $20. The cost of Bus Transportation & Beer/Soda is $30 Payable to the GE Ski Club. Bus Leaves at 6AM from the DOT Park & Ride Lot, North Genesee St Across from the Former Kitty s on the Canal. Sign up at our Meetings or send in payment of $30 to Windham/GE Ski Club, PO Box 327, New Hartford NY 13413. Deadline is Jan 25 th It s Superbowl Sunday and We should be Back in Time for the Kickoff. Ski Butternut -- Saturday, March 8th Ski Butternut is someplace new for most of us. Located in Western Massachusetts, Ski Butternut has 22 trails with 10 lifts (3 quads) and 1000 ft of vertical. This is a carpool trip. We'll meet at the DOT Park and Ride in North Utica at 6:00am. Directions: Take I-90 East to Albany and onto the Mass Pike extension; take Exit B-3; then take Rte 102 east to Rte 41 in West Stockbridge; Take Rte 41 south to Route 23 east. Butternut is 49 Miles from Albany. We will use the tickets donated to the club and share the cost of purchasing any additional ones--expected cost will be $15 or probably much less for this Trip. NOTES FROM THE PREZ: As 2007 comes to a close it is time to reflect back on the past year and think. Why didn t I ski more. The club offered great ski days to many great places. Then it dawned on me. We didn t have a whole lot of snow. Well Duh. This year has started out just great. The club has again come up with some excellent ski days and deals too good to pass up so let s all get out there and have a great ski season.. To all our members I want to wish a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year General membership meeting Are held at the American Legion Post # 1113 in Whitesboro at 7:30 P.M. Meetings are Usually the 1 st and 3 rd Tuesdays of the month from Oct. to April. Guests are always welcome. Whistler Info Departure is 6:00am sharp. Meet the bus at the DOT parking lot off Genesee st in north Utica. This is across the street from the old Kitty's on the canal. Car pool if you can and throw a shovel in your car in case there is snow when we get back.don't forget I.D. ( passport or birth cert. and drivers lic. ). Eat or bring breakfast as we don't have time to stop. We are flying Westjet Airlines flt.ws803 from Toronto at 1:30pm. into Vancouver arriving at 3:45pm. The bus ride to Whistler is about 1.5 hours on the most beautiful road you've ever seen. It's called the Sea to Sky Highway and we should be catching sunset. McCauley Mt. has it's Crazy 8's, ski all day for $8. Then, you can scoot over to Snowridge where you can enjoy Fri. nite skiing for $5. It's a ski bums dream come true. X C Corner Wayne Franz Chairman Saturday January 12, 2008: Bernie and Mary Miller will be hosting our 1st planned x-c ski day for 2008. We will meet at the Brick Body /Mapledale Plaza in Barneveld at 10:30 A.M., then carpool up to the Breia x-c ski trails on Egypt Rd by 11:00A.M.. Follow route 12 north, just after the route 12/28 split, take a left onto Egypt Rd. Stay on this road until you see the 2nd Breia trail system parking lot on your right (approximately 1-2 miles.) After skiing for a few hours, everyone is invited to stop in at Bernie and Mary's house on Kayuta Lake for food and drinks. Please bring a dish or drinks to pass. For directions to their house, call 831-8476. See you there! Friday January 18, 2008 630-930pm Unity Hall in Barneveld Breia Cross-Country Expo. with many vendors having to do with the x-c ski industry. The GE Ski Club will have their own booth. This will be a great opportunity to reach out to potential new ski club members. Anyone wishing to help out, contact Wayne at 222-4526. Free admission. Sunday January 27, 2008 @ 10:00 A.M. Girl Scout Day at the Breia trail system on Egypt Rd. We are looking for volunteers to help teach the girl scouts how to x-c ski. We will also be having a lunch at the warming hut which is located on the trail system. Contact Wayne at 222-4526 if you want to volunteer. Saturday February 2nd- Deidra and Ivan will be leading cross-county skiers on a trip, possibly to the Speculator area. Location will be determined as this date gets closer. Friday-Sunday February 8-10 The Ed's Bed's X-C/Downhill ski trip on February 8-10 to the North Creek/Wevertown area is coming up pretty quick. There are 13 people signed up and only 22 openings, so if you have an interest, let me know soon! The cutoff for this trip will be January 15th, which means that you will need to have signed up, filled out a trip form and paid the $60 trip fee by this date. Saturday February 16th- Tony and Jan will again be hosting a cross-country ski day at the home on Snowbird lake followed by drinks and food. There will be a signup for this event. Sunday February 17 th, Back up Date for Girl Scout Outting Saturday March 1st- This is a tentative trip with details still being worked out. Dori Alesi and her friend are looking to lead a Geo-Caching group of SNOW-SHOERS somewhere around the Old-Forge area. Stay tuned! General Notes Due to the fact that the first Tuesday of January is Jan 1, we are moving the general membership meeting to the following Tuesday Jan. 8 th, at the American Legion post 1113, Mohawk and Main Street, Whitesboro 7:30 pm. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Summer Camping Weekend 2008 We are Camping for next Summer at Lewey Lake State Park, July 18-20 th. This is located near Indian Lake. Several Campsites have been reserved, But If you are interested in going and haven t camped in awhile, Let me know so That we can reserve more campsites. Assist In Planning And Running Meetings. Responsible For Managing All Funds Of The Club. Keep Full And Accurate Account Of All Receipts And Expenditures Of All Events. Responsible For Deposits And Reconciliation Of Club s Checkbook. Keep Minutes Of All Meetings. Take Care Of Any Other Correspondence. Revise And Type Information Received From President And Chairpersons For Newsletter. Responsible For Printing, Collating, And Correct Bulk Mailing Of Newsletter. To Plan, Organize, Take Sign Ups, And Be Responsible Of All Details Dealing With Bus Companies, Resort And Ski Area For Day And Weekend Ski Trips. Work With Alpine And Cross- Country Chairpersons. Assist In Advising Non-Ski Related Trips. To Promote Alpine Skiing And Ski Areas Of NY State And Surrounding Areas. Set Up Ski Lesson Programs. Work Closely With Trip Chairperson(S) On Trip Selection And Planning. Promote Club With Local Ski Shops. Work With NESCA And Other Ski Clubs In Utica/Rome Area. To Promote X-C Skiing And The Ski Areas Of NY State And Surrounding Areas. Set Up Lesson Program If Interest Warrants. Work Closely With Trip-Chairperson(S) On Bus Trips. Set Up Car-Pool Ski Trips. Promote Club With Local Ski ;Shops. Chair Committee Of X-C Helpers. To Send Public Announcements To Local Media To Publicize The Club And It s Meetings. Keep Club Informed Of Community Affairs. To Plan The Club s Major Social Events And Gatherings. Work With Board To Assist With Special Projects. Assist In Planning And Entertainment At General Meetings. Take Membership Applications At Meetings. Compile Membership Information For Newsletter Chairperson(S). Work Closely With Board And Newsletter Chairperson(S). Responsible For All Of Ski Club s Promotional Merchandise Like Hats, T-Shirts, Etc. Assist In Fund-Raising Events. Responsible For Greeting Members And Collecting Monies At General Meetings.
