Actions Outstanding Cancer Research - plans to arrange fundraising at the planned Back To Netball festivals. Summer League - HP sent email to all clubs announcing that neither herself or PK were available to run it this year and offered it to any interested parties. As yet no one has come forward. AS suggested a further email giving 28 days notice to respond as it is thought that it will be questioned at the AGM so we need to ensure deadlines are given. HP asked PK & HP if they would be willing to offer advice re running it as the not knowing may put people off coming forward. PK said she uses a tournament rule book and there is also online advice available. SW suggested that perhaps the email should say that the CNMB will support as well. KH suggested that there may be interest from Creative Events Management students. Club Funding & SW League Costs - Cornwall Netball has received thank you letters from all clubs currently competing in the regional leagues for the monetary contributions by Cornwall Netball. Level 2 Conversion - At the previous meeting this was discussed as a necessity for all non UKCC accredited coaches to upgrade. 4 coaches are on the current course and in the process of upgrading - Natasha Howard, Gill Tregay, Jackie Tresidder and Lorna Gribble. The course cost is 170 per person. Cornwall Sports Partnership has contributed 125 per person and Cornwall Netball has funded the remainder. Attendees have paid their own travel costs. There are still others that should attend a course and whilst there is no definite date for the next course it is likely to be run closer to home if there is enough interest in Cornwall and probably in the summer. BBC Results - SWh has given the email address to HP to distribute to clubs in order
for them to email their match results immediately after each match so that BBC Cornwall can include this in their morning sports bulletins in an effort to promote netball in Cornwall. HP 4. OFFICER REPORTS QUESTIONS ONLY No questions following reports but additional reporting from AS following a meeting with Truro College: AS met with Jean Mooney who is HR at Truro College. Truro College has supported junior league in recent seasons by giving a donation of 1000 per season and it looks like this is set to continue for the next season but we need to come up with other ideas for publicity as we are unable to display their banners etc at Truro School. AS and Jean Mooney came up with some ideas during their meeting such as headbands, tshirts, merchandise bags, water bottles, badges that can be utilised at Junior League. The management board came up with the following suggestions as well: Truro College stickers on the bottom of the scoreboards at Junior League, logo on scorecards, link in twitter and facebook and add them as a sponsor, press release to local media and England Netball magazine, Invite them to fixtures. In recent years we have been restricted in saying that Truro College 'sponsor' junior league but now it has been approved that they can be named as a 'sponsor' so we need to make it clearer to all. Umpiring - C course is now booked, more details to follow. DA Schools - There has been a recent schools committee meeting and MO & PK attended. Penair School came runners up in the U14 South West competition which now sees them go through to the National U14 competition - congratulations. Whilst there are set rules for schools tournaments written nationally the local rules can be adapted to suit and the schools committee has decided to write local rules. 5. County Plan This is a document that is written with both items that need to be done for our county affiliation compliance to England Netball and our county ideas/wants for within our county. The county plan has now been summarised and colour coded to help us to understand and keep on track with actions required to get it completed by the deadline of March 2014. Much of it has already been completed or is in progress. & SW to promote Safeguarding through the website and social media and SW will email all clubs to point them in the direction of the website for information. & SW DBS checks - Replaces CRB and all coaches, team managers or anyone in a position of responsibility should have a DBS check. U18 assistant coaches should go on a safeguarding course. Umpires are not required to have a DBS check. Over 40's competition - SW contacted all clubs and received 2 responses. It has
been decided to try again next season but perhaps with a view to it being a tournament and not a league. Pass On Your Passion (POYP) - The county ideal is to recruit 25 new volunteers - will find out who is registered in Cornwall at the moment. Workshops (sharp shooting etc) - These are not very popular so to gain interest it may be worth running them directly after a Level 1 coaching course as newly qualified Level 1 coaches may be interested. The Introduction To Coaching course could also be offered to schools/ students? Coaching/Umpiring forums - AN umpiring forum was set up but it wasn't particularly successful. suggested that a forum is for a purpose, not for disputing and perhaps an online forum would work better. This would mean that a coach or umpire could communicate 24 hours a day and not have to wait for the next meeting. It would be used to share information, to clarify rules, perhaps ask 'what would you have done?' and would be for registered approved users only. It would need a moderator to oversee it to ensure that it is being used for the correct purpose. In the meantime will contact the web administrator to discuss linking it to the website. It will be discussed again at the next meeting. Communication/ Marketing - We now have a publicity officer in place. The County Plan will be reviewed twice a year in full but on each meeting agenda for updates. 6.AGM/Presentation Evening It is still undecided whether to have this as a separate event or on the same night as normal or perhaps split the evening. It was suggested that if it was a separate event then it could be a 'Celebration Evening' and we could introduce more awards where clubs don't know if they have won. We could also introduce Coach / Young Coach/ Umpire/ Young Umpire Of The Year etc. There could also be an inspirational guest speaker. Clubs could nominate for awards and winners or shortlisted nominees could automatically go forward for the Cornwall Sports Awards. ALL It is felt that some clubs may not bother or feel that they have a chance to win anything and therefore won't attend the evening. All of the committee to give this some thought and a decision needs to be made at the next meeting. 7. Website Refresh Update by - Looks good, lots of updates. We need to ensure that the minutes of each meeting are uploaded to the website for all to see. SWh has found minutes of previous meetings and forwarded them to to send on to the web administrator to be uploaded and will send the new minutes each time. The county plan will be put on the website for all to see and Cornwall Netball policies documents will also be on the website and hard copies to be kept in the secretary folder - to source the updated documents. is still currently collating the clubs contact info to update. PK noticed that the president and life members are not listed on the
management board page - will arrange. It was asked whether we need more life members as none have been introduced n recent years. 8. County Chairs Conference Calls Points to action - Succession planning - re election of officers after 3 years Disciplinary Secretary - AS is currently covering the role until a permanent secretary is appointed but Jackie Tresidder is interested in the role and will follow this up. is unavailable for the next conference call - offered to other board members - no one available. 9. Committee Roles Publicity - Kayleigh has now been appointed and will begin her role. Safeguarding - SW still working on a replacement - follow up at the next meeting. 10. Back To Netball Festivals There are 2 festivals planned, one in February at Penryn and one in April at Newquay. it has been offered out to back to netball groups and clubs with non league players. is currently awaiting responses. A further festival is planned to be included in the Surf 7s event in Newquay in June. Flyer promoting this will be sent out in the next week for all to promote. Surf 7s is the Rugby 7s event Cornwall Netball has joined with to run 7s, mixed and back to netball with proceeds going to the Carly Taylor Charity. 11. Time To Listen Workshop ALL This course is netball specific and should be attended by club safeguarding officers. A course is arranged for Monday evening 12th May at Truro College cricket centre and will be run by Angela Barnett. confirmed England Netball will cover the cost of the course so it is free to attend, promotion will start in March. 12. Satellite Clubs These have recently been set up and are run outside of clubs. Club coaches go out and coach in local schools/ towns where there is a gap in provision and players feed into clubs from there. It is very much demand led. Currently there are two satellite clubs running - Camborne and St Austell. The satellite clubs are funded but to qualify the coach must be a Level 2 and netball specific. The satellite club must be offsite from where any club is run and be held in community hours. If the club
does not qualify for funding by EN then Cornwall Sports Partnership will still fund. 13. AOB - PK said that the complaints flow chart still needs to be looked at - to action. Date of next meeting - 28th March 2014 Finish 8.10pm
