MSC Tackle Box www.marcosportfishingclub.com Allan Bristow, President Dedicated to Safely Fishing in and around Collier County June 2015 President s Message by Allan Bristow Hi Everyone! Summer has arrived here in South Florida. For many of us, that means getting up before dawn and preparing to get on the water at day break. Some of the most spectacular sky views occur when the sun first peaks out over the horizon. Most of time the surface of the water is flat and you can see some nervous bait fish being chased by their bigger cousins. Throwing a top water plug over that bait could land you a leader board fish. Don't forget to try the beaches in the morning as our game fish cruise the shoreline for their breakfast. We want to thank Dave and Susie Walsh for a terrific season of MSC picnics. Last month's Steak Picnic at Sarazen Park was the last of the season and over 115 T-Bone steaks were grilled! There are plenty of opportunities to have more fun and meet other members by getting involved with your club. Please consider volunteering and continue to make MSC the best club on the island. If you have any interest, please call or email me. See you on the water, Allan Bristow Fisherman's tale: A truly happy fishermen is one who can enjoy being on the water on a cloudy day!

Keith Wohltman and John Moore Seatrout Mike Larsen Flounder Why didn t you submit pics of your biggest catch last month? Kayak Fishing in the Faka Union Freshwater Canal by Vic Ordija On a beautiful April 9 spring day, six kayakers set out in the Faka Union freshwater canal to catch Largemouth Bass. Unfortunately on this day, the bass did not cooperate and only three bass were caught; the largest was 15.5'' which was caught by Mike Larsen. A number of different baits were tried to no avail. On a positive note several Snook were caught with the largest fish measuring 29.5'' and also caught by Mike, who now holds the lead in the 2015 Kayak Fishing Challenge
CAPTAIN'S CHOICE 1 RECAP by Tony Saputo On May 21, a total of 6 captains with a crew of 15 fished different locations. Some went as far as 23 miles offshore, some closer and some fished backwater due to rough seas offshore. A variety of fish were caught, tarpon, grouper, sharks, lane snappers, spotted sea trout, ladyfish, jacks and of course catfish. Everyone seemed to like to idea that this was not a tournament, no entry fee, no
captain's meeting, no measuring or weigh-in and it was up to the captain where to fish and when lines were in and out. It also gave the captain and crew an opportunity to try different fishing locations that they would not usually try if this was a tournament Just a nice day on the water fishing with friends!!! After fishing 22 met at the Marco Island Brewery at 6:00 for a delicious buffet, refreshments and fish tales.
