Savanna s River City Reader Page 5 Resident of the Month Earl Buchholz Earl Buchholz was born August 11, 1928 in Iowa. He attended school through 8 th grade and then went to work full time on a farm along with his family. Earl had six sisters: Grace, Emma, Francis, Gladys, Viola, and Irene; and four brothers: Harold, Glen, Wilbert, and Vick. Earl has always had a love for farming, raising cows, goats, horses and chickens. Crops he helped grow and harvest were: corn, oats and hay. On January 15, 1963 Earl married his wife Erma. Earl s favorite music is anything Country and he especially enjoys Ernest Ernie Tubb. The Lone Ranger is one of Earl s favorite movies and the actor he really enjoys most is Gene Autry. Earl also especially likes to watch the oldies on TV Land. Whenever Earl wasn t busy with farm life, he could be found fishing in a nearby creek or coon hunting and always cherished his faithful coon dogs. Another thing Earl truly loves is horses, as one can tell by entering his room. He has a vast collection of Clydesdale horses and other ones. You just might have seen Earl riding one of his horses in an area parade. After farming, Earl went to work in a factory in Fulton, IL named Drives, Corp and worked there for 15 years until his retirement. When asking Earl what his favorite foods are he is quick to reply and lights up that his real weakness is lemon pie and how he loves me some fried chicken. has enjoyed getting to know Earl better and is glad to have him as part of the Family!
