VETTE NEWS Volume 31, Issue 01 January 2012 President s Corner I just sat down with my thoughts of the great Christmas Brunch we just attended.the food, private room, and attendance (91)were wonderful. Marianne Pastore and Linda Bonus were responsible for this last super event to end the 2011 year of COB. We now have to start planning for the next year s success. This year s Officers and Board Members are a great group that will work together and make 2012 another great year to have fun. One thing I want everyone to keep in mind is that the Purpose for which this organization has been created is to favorably promote and enjoy the Corvette through car related activities. With this in mind we will need the help of the membership to volunteer to set up events to reach this goal. We have a few new events planned; Lee Bucille and Skip Polowy are planning a Sleigh Ride Feb. 4 th, What s Happening January 14th COB Club Meeting Clarence Church 7PM Swearing in of Officers Holly Wyse is planning a Square Dance, and Rose Ricigliano a 3 day weekend at Blackthorne Resort May 18 to 20th in the Catskills. There is one price that covers the whole weekend (except liquor).we will need help and volunteers for other events like the Car Show Picnic and the meeting breaks that we all like. If you have an idea for new events please bring it to my attention. In closing, remember the officers and board were elected to serve you and we all look forward to another great year of driving and enjoying our Corvettes. When I got this Vette it wasn't running so the first thing was to get the motor started. Then I would know what worked and didn't work. Now when I take it apart I would know what to fix. I found out the horns didn't work and there was a grinding sound coming from the lower shaft bearing.to fix these problems the whole column had to be taken apart to clean, check, paint and put back together. VETERANS MEMORIAL DEDICATION Carole and I attended a dedication ceremony on December 7 th at Amherst State Park for a new memorial dedicated to all veterans. All branches of the armed forces are recognized with large bronze plaques for each branch of the service. Also in attendance were John Heffernan and Carl Balmas. In addition, John was a member of the honor guard for the ceremony which was short and moving. At the end of the service a bugler played taps and a nine gun salute was presented by the local American Legion post. If anyone would like to visit this memorial to our veterans, Amherst State Park is located on Mill Street just south of Sheriden Drive. God bless all our veterans and those in active service who have and continue to sacrifice to keep us free and give us liberty. ALL GAVE SOME AND SOME GAVE ALL Rich Zahner All the Corvette club ladies wish to thank Sue Brownlee and Mary Mangan for planning the wonderful December get together at The White Linen Tearoom on Shawnee Rd.
