FISH BITES The Marlins look for two-in-a-row and a series win over the Phillies tonight when they square off at 7:10 p.m. Left-handed pitcher Adam Conley (2-3, 7.53) was recalled from Triple-A today and will make the start for Miami; he is 2-1 with a 1.47 ERA in five career starts against Philadelphia. The Phillies will counter with right-hander Vince Velasquez (2-5, 5.58), who is 2-1 with a 3.16 in five career starts against Miami. This is the final series of a six-game homestand for Miami, which opened the 'stand against the Dodgers (0-3). Following an off-day on Thursday, the Marlins will head out on the road to Cincinnati (July 21-23) and Texas (July 24-26). Miami wrapped up the first half with a 6-4 road trip through Milwaukee (1-2), St. Louis (2-2), and San Francisco (3-0). LAST NIGHT VS. PHILADELPHIA The Marlins jumped out to an early lead, but needed a late rally to earn a 6-5 walk-off win over the Phillies. Giancarlo Stanton hit his 27th home run in the first inning to give Miami a 2-0 lead. Four runs in the third put Philly ahead until the bottom of the fifth. Stanton struck again with one out in the that frame, cutting the deficit to one run with a solo homer. After a strikeout and a double by Marcell Ozuna, Justin Bour came up with a two-run blast to put the Fish back in front. The Phillies tied it up in the seventh, however, so it was up to Dee Gordon in the 10th to put the game away, which he did with a two-out, bases-loaded single to walk Miami off winners. VS. THE PHILLIES Miami has a four-game winning streak against the Phillies, tied for the longest winning streak for either side in this series in nearly two years, since the Marlins won four straight from September 23-October 3, 2015. Since then, the series is tight, knotted at 13-13. The Phils have a 220-183 lead in the all-time series, but Miami has a 106-96 lead in South Florida (28-22 at Marlins Park). Miami currently has a five-game winning streak at home against Philly, its longest home streak in the series since also winning five straight from September 3, 2011 to July 1, 2012. TODAY'S TRANSACTIONS Following last night's game, the Marlins placed INF Martín Prado on the 10-day disabled list (right knee sprain) and recalled from rehab and reinstated INF Miguel Rojas from the 60-day DL (right thumb fracture). Also, today the Club optioned RHP Drew Steckenrider to Triple-A New Orleans and recalled LHP Adam Conley from NOLA. HEART & HUSTLE AWARD The Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association today named J.T. Realmuto as Miami's 2017 Heart & Hustle Award winner. The award honors active players who demonstrate a passion for the game of baseball and best embody the values, spirit, and traditions of the game. The MLBPAA formed 30 committees, comprised of Alumni players with established relationships to each team, to select each club's winner. The final winner will be voted on by fans, alumni, and active players and announced on November 14 at the 18th Annual Legends for Youth Dinner in New York City. Marcell Ozuna was last year's nominee for Miami, preceded by Dee Gordon in 2015 and Christian Yelich in 2014. GOOD TIME FOR A COMEBACK Southpaw Adam Conley was recalled from Triple-A New Orleans today to make tonight's start against Philadelphia. The timing is good for Conley to get off on the right foot, as he has posted a 2-1 record and 1.47 ERA in five career starts against the Phillies. According to Elias, that is the lowest ERA by a pitcher through his first five career starts against Philadelphia in Club history, ahead of Henderson Alvarez (2.14) and Kevin Brown (2.23). Conley has won his last two starts against Philly, both in 2016, allowing just one run over 12.2 innings (0.71 ERA) in those outings, with 11 strikeouts. He is making his first MLB start since taking a loss on May 8 vs. St. Louis; he went 3-3 with a 5.49 ERA in 12 starts for the Baby Cakes after being optioned following that start. THREATENING RECORDS record on this date: 8-14 Giancarlo Stanton hit his 27th and 28th home runs of the season last night, breaking a tie with Cody Bellinger and Joey Votto for the National League lead. Through 91 team games, Stanton is well on pace to threaten Miami's single-season home run mark of 42, set by Gary Sheffield in 1996. Prior to this season, no player in Club history had reached 28 homers before team game 95 (Mike Lowell in 2003), and Sheffield stood at 26 homers through 91 games in 1996. Stanton's career high for home runs is 37 (2014 & 2012). Justin Bour also homered last night (21), and is just two behind his career-best 23, done in 2015. Marcell Ozuna has 23 homers, tied for his career high (2016 & 2014) and tied for the fifth-most in Club history through 91 team games. Also, Ozuna leads the Marlins with 70 RBI, just six off his total from last season and 15 behind his alltime high (85 in 2014). His 70 this season are tied with Carlos Delgado (2005) for the fourth-most in Club history through 91 games, behind Cliff Floyd (74 in 2001), Mike Lowell (73 in 2003), and Preston Wilson (72 in 2000). - Stats LLC MAKE IT A DOUBLE Giancarlo Stanton recorded his 24th career multi-home run game last night, his sixth this season. Stanton long-ago set the Club record for career multi-homer games, as Hanley Ramirez was the former record-holder at 12. He also padded his franchise single-season record with last night's performance. Prior this season, the Club record had been four games, done six times by five players, including Stanton himself (2014). He passed that mark on July 9 at San Francisco, when he went deep twice for his fifth multi-homer game of 2017. Stanton is now tied with Cody Bellinger for the most multi-home run games in the Majors this season. He has hit.365 (42x115) against Philly since joining the Marlins in 2015; that average ranks first in Club history (min. 125 PA) against Philadelphia, ahead of Juan Pierre (.335) and Miguel Cabrera (.332).
