(pj) Supplementary reports: Royal Randwick: Saturday 16 April 2016 RACE 3: TJS Frank Packer Plate (Group 3) 2000m Gold Ambition Stable representative, Mr J Bruce advised that Gold Ambition had pulled up well, however, in light of its poor performance, the gelding had been sent for a spell. RACE 7: Schweppes All Aged Stakes (Group 1) 1400m Press Statement Stable representative, Mr C Duckworth advised that Press Statement had been retired. Kembla Grange: Saturday 16 April 2016 RACE 8: School Holidays Class 1 and Maiden Plate 2000m: From Pentridge Trainer, Mr J Steinmetz reported that the gelding had pulled up well, however, due to its disappointing performance, it will now be spelled. RACE 1: TAB.COM.AU Plate 1200m: Arancini made contact with Lord Marmaduke at the start. When questioned, App L Grace advised that the gelding was stirred up during the preliminary and then overraced in the early stages of the race. He added that Arancini then settled well, however was disappointing in its failure to finish the race off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer, Mr G Ryan stated that the gelding had worked well leading into today's race, however, in his opinion, Arancini does not perform at its best in the soft track conditions. Lord Marmaduke made contact with Arancini at the start. When questioned regarding the performance of Lord Marmaduke, rider J Collett explained that the gelding overraced in the lead, however, was disappointing in its failure to finish its race off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer, Mr D Vandyke stated that in his view, Lord Marmaduke was not suited by the strong early tempo in the race and advised that he would drop the gelding back in grade and instruct that Lord Marmaduke be ridden more conservatively at its next start. Most Exalted began awkwardly. Passing the 900m, Most Exalted had to be steadied when crowded for room by Chui, which was directed inwards by Multizone (S Clipperton), which shifted in when not clear. S Clipperton was reprimanded under AR137(a). Most Exalted was briefly held up rounding the home turn.
2 Multizone When questioned regarding an apparent improved performance, trainer Mr J Cummings advised that in his view, Multizone appreciated a quick back-up and added that on Saturday, 16 th April 2016, at Kembla Grange, Multizone was not suited when the race developed into a sprint home after being briefly held up. Mr Cummings stated that today's rider, S Clipperton was able to make a longer run with momentum and he attributed all these reasons to the gelding's improved showing. RACE 2: Hyland Race Colours Plate 1200m: Danecora slow to begin. Danecora was briefly held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight. Echo Queen overraced in the early stages. Lady Carnoustie Rider J Collett stated that he had to make some use of his mount to cross and obtain the lead, but, nonetheless, the filly was disappointing in the manner in which it finished the race off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Sanaya to be ridden with cover; settled midfield. Shortly after the start, Sanaya shifted in making contact with Cottage. Shortly afterwards was briefly crowded between Cottage and Echo Queen, both of which shifted ground. Sound Works bumped on jumping. Sound Works overraced in the early stages and making the first turn, had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of Echo Queen. C Reith advised that the filly pulled hard and whilst a run had developed after straightening between Sanaya and Echo Queen, he was checked when disappointed for that run when Sanaya shifted out slightly. Sound Works was then held up for a short distance thereafter. RACE 3: All Too Hard Handicap 1100m: Regimental Force When questioned regarding the performance of Regimental Force, rider App L Grace stated that the colt travelled well behind the leaders, however, in his view, did not stretch out in the soft going. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer, Mr G Ryan concurred with the views of App L Grace and advised that the colt had pleased the stable in its work and a forward showing was expected today. Regimental Force was sent to be swabbed. Malaigo was bumped heavily on jumping when Legerity shifted in and as a consequence, both Malaigo and Legerity became unbalanced. Veladero blundered shortly after the start. Passing the 600m, Veladero had to be eased off the heels of Ajani. Collage slow to begin. Witches held up rounding the home turn and when shifting wider became awkward in its action and was unbalanced for a short distance. Purrari began awkwardly. Purrari raced keenly in the lead.
3 RACE 4: TAB Rewards Handicap 1900m: Gouldian rider B Avdulla and trainer Mr J O'Shea advised that in their opinion Gouldian did not stretch out today on the soft track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Tradtri laid out under pressure in the straight. Champion Stage slow to begin. RACE 5: Café Culture + Insitu Handicap 1200m: Sampeah slow to begin. Shortly after straightening, Sampeah became awkwardly placed on the heels of the weakening Cruise Power and was steadied and shifted to that horse's outside to improve. Conarchie overraced in the middle stages and after passing the 600m, got its head up when being restrained away from the heels of Tommy Two Toes. Just Like Stratum brushed the fence leaving the enclosure and was examined behind the barriers by the Club Veterinarian and passed fit to start. Just Like Stratum was slow to begin. Cruise Power When questioned, rider B Avdulla explained that whilst Tommy Two Toes placed some pressure on his mount throughout, Cruise Power was under pressure from the 500m and weakened noticeably in the straight. He added that Cruise Power, which was resuming from a spell, would derive benefit from the run and this coupled with the 1200 metres first-up, contributed to the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stable representative, Mr C Duckworth advised that the intention would now be to remove the ear muffs prior to its next race start. Mr Duckworth was asked to notify Stewards of the progress of Cruise Power in the days subsequent. Happy Snitzel began awkwardly. El Toranado slow to begin. Maraam began awkawardly. Tommy Two Toes pulled hard throughout the early and middle stages of the race. A postrace veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. RACE 6: Schweppes Handicap 1100m: Magic Alibi began awkwardly. On the first turn, Magic Alibi was crowded for room between Roeinda and Zelda, which shifted out slightly. Minnesota began awkwardly and for some distance shortly after the start, was steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of Magic Alibi. Minnesota overraced in the early and middle stages and refused to settle.
4 Aegean Sea rider B Avdulla advised that in his opinion, Aegean Sea did not stretch out today on the soft track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Zelda bumped on jumping and crowded shortly afterwards. Zelda was held up rounding the home turn and until passing the 200m. Roeinda A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be in respiratory distress and displaying poor post-race recovery. Stable representative, Mr J Bruce was asked to provide a full veterinary clearance, including the results of a dynamic scope, prior to Roeinda's next start. Magic Diamond App T Wolfgram explained that after being poorly away and becoming unbalanced after jumping, Magic Diamond travelled comfortably thereafter. He added that prior to straightening he felt that Magic Diamond would be competitive, however, when asked for an effort, the filly did not respond to his riding and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Co-trainer, Mr Paul Snowden expressed disappointment with the performance of Magic Diamond and indicated that the filly will undergo a veterinary examination on returning to the stables, the results of which he will forward to the Stewards, along with a report on the filly's progress in the days subsequent. Remunerator crowded on jumping. RACE 7: TAB More Than Just Winning Handicap 1550m: Encosta Line if begins well, to be ridden forward; settled midfield, three wide without cover. Meiner Freccia slow to begin. Meiner Freccia was held up rounding the home turn. Shelley's Girl when giving ground near the 150m was briefly tightened for room by Shalmaneser, which shifted out slightly. Road To Shangri La bumped by Circular, which, when held up, shifted in shortly after straightening. Tanita shifted out abruptly on jumping and lost ground (3L). Think Aloud had some difficulty obtaining completely clear running in the early part of the straight. GENERAL: Swab samples were taken from all winners and the following runners: Race 1: Arancini, Chui, Hogmanay, Lord Marmaduke, Multizone. Race 2: Cottage, Danecora, Echo Queen. Race 3: Regimental Force, Legerity, Cadogan, Lieutenant Dan, Malaigo. Race 4: Just As Cosmic, Gouldian, Scooner, Tradtri, Chaos. Race 5: Sampeah, Tommy Two Toes. Race 6: Magic Alibi, Minnesota, Roeinda, Daysee Doom. Race 7: Meiner Freccia, Shalmaneser, Shelley's Girl, Boys Day Out, Cheeky Devil, Think Aloud.
