Goshen 243, Warsaw and Northwood 168 Loss. Overall record: 1-8 Conference record: 1-6 Goshen girls drop two at Stonehenge Golf Club in Warsaw The Lady RedHawks came up a little short against two tough NLC schools. Northwood steamed to a fine 168 followed by Warsaw shooting a 190. Goshen, lead by Olivia Lehr's 54 and Olivia Thomas' 56, posted a 243. The highlight of the evening came on the first hole played for the number three golfers. For Goshen it was Katie Kercher. She watched as Warsaw's Delaney Wihebrink recorded a Hole-n-one

on her first swing of the night! "It doesn't matter at what level it happens" reported Coach Hire, "there is nothing more exciting that an ACE in golf!" This was the last conference match for the Lady RedHawks until the NLC Championship on September 10. "Even though there are areas of improvement each time we play, we still make so many mistakes that lead to BIG scores on our scorecards", commented Hire. "We can't seem to put together a string of solid scores." The Girls are off until next Tuesday when they will battle Concord and West Noble at Bent Oak Country Club. Tonight's victory improved Plymouth's NLC record to 4-3 and dropped Warsaw to 1-4. Tonight's 187 was our team season low by 9 shots! Tonight's match was our annual breast cancer awareness event. Thanks to the Warsaw players and parents who also dressed in pink to share in the event. Thanks also to Ounce of Prevention for their past purchase of special shirts for our girls for this special evening. The highlight of the night belonged to Senior Katie Johnson who had a special night! Katie's round featured a very minimal 11 putts - 1 birdie on #13 via a chip in - nothing worse than a 5 on her scorecard - for a career best 39! Looking back on her 11 putts Katie had only 9 putts through 8 holes played. Katie's look for birdie on her final hole was denied or her score could've been lower yet. I was proud of Katie's ability to keep the next shot in perspective, not keep count of her position / score, and her ability to stay in the moment. Katie's previous best competitive round was 42. This season her previous best round was a 46. Senior Nicole Horvath 46 tied her best round of the season. After a rocky #15 due to penalties Nicole coupled together two consecutive pars on 16 & 17 and tapped in for birdie on 18. Outside of #15 Nicole had nothing worse than a double bogey on any hole this evening and she got sharper within the round. Rounding out the Varsity scoring we're Lauren Kolter 45 and Emily Cochern 57. On the JV side a couple players also had season bests: Jennah Nifong 54 - first match back from ACL injury

Lauren Powell 66 Olivia Waymouth 73 Lots of positives heading into the post-labor Day close of our season. The ladies are next in action next Wednesday in their final home match of the season vs Rochester and Bremen. Beat Elkhart Memorial 243-244 and lose to Concord 190-243 The Goshen Lady RedHawks battled Conference opponents, mosquitoes and illness Monday evening at Christiana Creek Country Club in Elkhart. Short one girl before they left for this NLC match, three more were not able to finish due to illness. Before the night was over, there were only four girls playing for Goshen. Those four played well enough though for the Lady RedHawks to post there first victory of the season. They beat Elkhart Memorial 243-244. The girls were lead by steady Olivia Thomas and her 53 followed by Grace Hernley's 56 and Olivia Lehr's 57. They lost to Concord 190-243. "I was starting to think that we would have to forfeit these matches" commented Coach Hire. "Every time I turned around, someone else was sick. We started the day with eight girls and finished with with four." The team is back in action on Thursday as they travel to Warsaw to take on the Tigers and the Northwood Panthers.
