Raiders won Mikey Squires had a receiving touchdown (pass from Scott Aldrich), a punt return and a kick off return for touchdowns. Beau Brabender,McClain Miller, Logan Nagy also had rushing touchdowns. Connor Roth had an interception. Raiders are now 1-1 on the season and 1-0 in Big 11 play, and will play Elkhart West next Tuesday. No B game was played.

4 Cubs beat Bowling Green 8-1 to start final home series of 2018 Rafael Narea has a four RBI night, Delvin Zinn extends hitting streak to 12 games South Bend, IN: It was a total team effort from Four Winds Field on Wednesday night as the South Bend Cubs opened their final regular season home series with an 8-1 win over the Bowling Green Hot Rods. With solid pitching, defense, and offense, the Cubs put together one of their most complete games of It all started with the southpaw starter Brendon Little. In one of his best outings in the 2018 season, Little fired five scoreless innings and only allowed two hits. The lefty struck out five batters and also earned his fifth win of the season. Out of the bullpen, Brendan King and Jake Steffens kept the large lead intact for the Cubs with four innings of combined relief. Between the two, they only allowed a run. King punched out five hitters himself. At the plate, the Cubs sprang out of the gates quickly with former President Jimmy Carter and Mrs. Carter watching from the Owner s Suite behind home plate. The Carter s were in attendance as Habitat Night took place at Four Winds Field. With five combined runs in the 1st and 2nd innings, the Cubs took a commanding 5-0 lead. Rafael Narea drove in three of his four RBI in the 1st with a bases clearing double down the right field line. Jose Gutierrez brought in two RBI. First baseman Austin Upshaw went 2/4 with two doubles and a RBI as well.additionally, Chris Singleton picked up two more hits and he is hitting over.450 in his past five games. Delvin Zinn extended his hitting streak to 12 games with a 2/4 night and a run scored. With the win, the Cubs stay in playoff contention in the Eastern Division. They remain just 2.5 games back of the wild card spot held by Fort Wayne. South Bend will look for the series win tomorrow night with first pitch coming at 7:05 PM. 5 NLC Golf Concord 181 Northridge 181 Warsaw 206 Concord wins on 5th Man Goshen High School: 211 Wawasee HS: 210 The Redhawks were led by Cat Hoover with a careerbest 45 and Olivia Lehr's 55. Other notable performances: McKenna Cripe - 56 Estella Borden - 55 Lauren Murphy 65 The Lady Tiger golf team traveled to Bent Oak Golf Course to take on Concord and Northridge for a threeway match. Concord took the victory after defeating Northridge on a 5th man. Both teams shot 181 to Warsaw's 206. The Lady Tigers fall to 8-4 on the season and 2-3 in the NLC. Varsity: Grayson Kilburn - 53 Izzy Ray - 50 Madelyn Ray - 52 Miriam Hagg - 57 Julia Hildebrand - 51 The Junior Varsity also played posting a team score of 215, defeating both Concord and Northridge. The Lady Tigers look to finish conference round robin play strong when they host Wawasee and Elkhart Memorial on Thursday at Stonehenge Golf Club beginning at 5:00pm. NLC Cross County Girls Cross Country Finals: Concord 21, Plymouth 40. Elkhart Memorial 23, Concord 32. Girls: EM 23 Concord 32 EM 15 Plymouth 45 Concord 21 Plymouth 40 Boys: EM 23 Concord 33 EM 18 Plymouth 43 Concord 21 Plymouth 36 Plymouth Elkhart Memorial Summer Cooper paced second overall and first for Concord in 20:40. Girls now 3-1 overall; 1-1 NLC. NIC Golf New Prairie 229 Mishawaka 250 SB Washington 273 Playing every point was the theme of the game against Mishawaka tonight as the Cougars came out on top 3-2. Elise Swistek was first in kills with 15 followed by Katie Hancock with 13. Olivia Kelly also chipped in 9. Blocking proved to be key and was lead by Katie Hancock (4), Ellie Michiaels (2) and Elise Swistek (2). Shaye Tolch dished out 20 assists followed by Sarah Fronk with 11. Elise Swistek (17), Katie Hancock (12) and Cali Salat (12) all contributed to great defense tonight! The Cougars play Thursday at South Bend Riley The Goshen girls soccer team lost a tough battle with state ranked Warsaw last night 4-0. Maddie Rittenhouse had 11 saves in goal for the RedHawks. The varsity girls are now 3-2 and play their next game Thursday evening at LaPorte. The JV game starts at 6:00pm followed by the varsity at 7:30pm. The Lady Cougars' Varsity Golf Team continued to improve upon it conference record by defeating both Mishawaka High School (250) and South Bend Washington High School (273) by shooting a very good 229 on a tough Elbel Golf Course. Leading the Lady Cougars once again was Sophomore Jordan Winters (50) followed by fellow Sophomore Zoie Martinez (56), and Freshman Cyd Palmer (61) and Junior Captain Beth Armstrong (62). Freshman Liv Trojanowski rounded out the scoring with a 65. Coach Bruce Watson commented that if someone had said at the beginning of the season that the team would be 5-6 in the NIC conference, he would not have believed them. But that is how hard these ladies have worked to improve their game. It was nice having our Junior Captain Beth back in action after missing a match due to illness. And all the ladies played a tough away course with great course management decisions. These young ladies are just fine representatives of New Prairie Schools and the entire school community. The team has little time to rest as the take on perennial golf power house South Bend St. Joseph, in their final NIC conference match tomorrow at Burke Golf Course.
