Oh hand is it Very r n b hip hop feel Medium length warm up 2 mins 8 Part Wave Who can name 8 parts of the body? (raise hand excited like) Very r n b hip hop feel Hey dee ho music 2012 4

Medium length warm up 2 mins Cardio guide Cha Cha Slide Who likes to dance and cha cha? (Show them how to do a cha cha step) Refer you tube for moves Very active song with jumping, criss crosses etc. Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes Everyone keen for a hip hop version of h,s,k & t? Let s see if you can keep up!! Fast paced and loads of fun Fitness Rap Who wants to be fit and healthy? I do (raise hand)...if you do...let s do the fit and healthy fitness rap! Hey dee ho music 2012 5

Good brain gym one... Sings about being fit and healthy and wanting to stay that way Be sure everyone sings the chorus about being fit and healthy Music tells you the moves but make up something exciting for chorus line Running on the spot Who likes running? We are all going to build good hearts by running on the spot! Let s go! Very quick and cute...be sure to repeat on your midi twice at least Lots of jumping, stamping, running on the spot etc Race car song Who likes race cars? Well let s get in our pretend race cars and see who wins!! Rocky feel to song children will love being a race car - repeat twice Can do on the spot or in a circle or from point a to b somewhat some personalisation for moves The gummy bear song Who likes to eat Gummy Bears? Who thinks they can be like a gummy bear to music... Hey dee ho music 2012 6

Please show me... Act like a Gummy bear Stamp, bounce, hop, be jelly like, rub your tummy i.e. yummy, pretend to eat someone Need to make up moves here Cardio hip hop Hip Hop Style anyone? Let s make up some moves together shall we? Slower paced hip hop allows for poetic license here Allows presenter and children to work together to make up some hip hop moves Need to be creative here and make up own moves Balance and Core Hopscotch Ok friends whose played hopscotch before? That s great I need a train line behind me please Then hold the line and demonstrate what to do. Be sure to explain the children that we are working on balance and coordination Once mastered make the children to it backwards Square Dance Hey dee ho music 2012 7

Ok little peeps...we are playing the square game...i need teams of x at each of the cone points laid out! When I say go...we are all walking slowly backwards from cone to cone...making a square when the music starts you may start! Music reflects a square dance, but good backing explaining what a square is Be sure to have a min of 4 children in each team at each cone start point All exercises introduced must be able to allow a child to balance a bean bag on their heads Be sure all children can walk backwards first before progressing i.e. if children start side stepping instead of walking backwards Be sure children progress with something new over the 3 weeks refer class plans Touch ya knees Can someone show me how to tap on my knees nicely? (Allow child to demonstrate and then tap their knees nicely)...i think I could touch your knees without you touching mine...shall we see (then explain further from there...i need everyone to find a friend to play this game with Be sure children and shown to tap and not slap their knees Song beat not too fast on purpose and it s about touching knees Only progress to shoulder blade touches once children in pairs can master knee touches Increase difficulty by increasing numbers i.e. from 2 people to 3 or 4 Monkey Race (Rock like a Monkey) Hey dee ho music 2012 8

How does a Monkey walk? Like this (demo) but today we are going to do it with a bean bag :) (handout bean bag) Rock like a Monkey start with a walk and proceed to the race Be sure children are not hunched over (chest dropping) essential to maintain a somewhat upright position to achieve a low centre of gravity this on in the mirror before instructing children for correct posture Team Stand up (Working Together) Ok today in groups of 5 we are going to learn as a team of how to Stand up Together all at the same time. (Ask a few educators to demonstrate with you). Who can do that they think with a big show of hands :)!! Be sure the children's groups are small i.e. no more than 5 Encourage team work Do this at least 3 4 times Be well practiced Crossing the River (By the River) Today we are working with a partner :) Everybody please find a friend to team up with :) Ok Miss X (educator) and I are going to show you how to cross the river with your friends and rocks (bean bags) Be sure to demonstrate this one at least twice Encourage team work Hey dee ho music 2012 9

Set out cones to mark the river crossing Be well practiced Quickness and Agility Freddie the Frog Who likes frogs and what sounds do frog s make? We are going to throw Freddie the frog (bean bag) into the pond everyone repeats after me Freddie the Frog went to jump on a log And, SPLASH, he fell into the pond Be sure to alternate from left and right throwing arms Be sure to only let a max of 3 children throw at once otherwise it doesn t work well Be sure to mix it up and move the pond around and/or number of children and only certain numbers throw at once. Reaction Balls Who thinks they re quick as a flash? Well I have testing balls to see Demonstrate how to drop and catch. Do this in rounds of children. For example, 4 5 children at once. The balls will bounce in different directions so space is required to avoid injury or bumping into other children. Make the other children sit down with balls and cheer on. An amazing race (The Hat Race) Ok we need 2 teams... (pick 2 team captains and get other children to form train lines Hey dee ho music 2012 1

behind them)... Ok everyone it s a running race from cone a to cone b but before you can run you must put the hat on your head!!! Then pass the hat to your next running friend Once children are lined up be sure to show them what they need to do It doesn t have to be a hat it can be a tie or glasses but keep it simple and don t have any more than 2 items that they must put on before running Be sure to increase cones so that children must weave in and out of them (agility) Song is about an amazing race and has a good beat for the running speed you need Bounce (The Hippity Hoppity Race) Ok we have already done the hat race and now let s race on a hopper ball!! It s the hippity hoppity race! I need teams of 3 (form the teams). Ok everyone it s just like the hat race except this time we must ride back and forth on the hopper ball! The song Bounce has good beat to reflect the bouncing speed required Very similar set up as the hat race Once children have mastered the hopper ball from cones a to b be sure to increase amount of cones used and make children weave in and out of the cones Bouncy Ball Ok who thinks they can bounce and catch a ball ok (demonstrate)... Ok we need 2 teams...let s line up and practice and bouncing and catching skills Song reflects activity...suggestion slow the song down to start with Hey dee ho music 2012 1

Start easy from cone a to cone b, but then increase cones and make children bounce/catch weaving in and out of cones Make it a competition i.e. teams a and b race to see who can get all players through first Cheerleading Ok FUN, FUN, FUN and self expression is the main goal here. Good listening skills and following directions are also being developed here, but merely a secondary achievement. By using the flash cards (see below) the children are learning both visually and verbally (auditory skills). By adding in a description, for example, when the Hooray sign is used, tell children to jump up like a jack out of a box, the kinaesthetic skills (feeling and/or tactile skills) are also being developed. Only use perhaps 3 flashcards per cheerleading section and make the rest fun. Encourage the children to come up with moves and be sure to reward that child by getting the rest of the class to do that move The sense of becoming, belonging and being can be really developed in the cheerleading section, which is vital to EYLF (Early years learning framework). :- Self expressions is the goal Development of verbal, auditory and kinaesthetic skills Disco Left & Right Hey dee ho music 2012 1

Get Ready & Little muscles High V & Low V Little wings & Big wings Hey dee ho music 2012 1

Point left & right Pump it & Muscle Man Straight up & down Hey dee ho music 2012 1

Cool downs Ask the children to lie on the floor and listen closely to the music. Talk about all the activities you did today re-cap the muscles we sued and the aims/outcomes of each activity. Key Points:- Focus on breathing and stretching the muscles worked Be sure children are quiet Be sure children are calm before ending this track Hey dee ho music 2012 1
