Dear Parents I hope that you enjoyed a relaxing half term break. We are back in full swing with a busy and exciting second half of term building up to Christmas. As you know we have our inspection team with us until Thursday, based in the Drawing Room, so this week will be particularly interesting giving us the chance to show and tell all the best things about Polwhele. Thank you for completing the parental questionnaires. We will let you know when we have the official report later this term. SCHOOL NOTICES Thank you Canon Linda for a wonderful assembly about St Francis of Assisi. Saint Francis is considered the first Italian poet by literary critics. He believed commoners should be able to pray to God in their own language, and he wrote often in the dialect of Umbria instead of Latin. His writings are considered to have great literary and religious value.

S O TS NEWS U8 Rugby v TP Tuesday 16 October Match Report Year 3 enjoyed a fantastic afternoon at Truro Prep School, playing several matches against a mixture of Truro teams. Some excellent running and passing saw our Polwhelers score several tries and more importantly everyone had a really great day. The matches weren t scored as the emphasis was on enjoying this fun introduction to competitive fixtures. Mr Main One of our Year 7 Sports Scholars went to Jersey for her first International age group meet. We are delighted to announce that she won Gold in 200M and Silver in 50m Butterfly!! A great PB for her Butterfly now at 39 seconds for a 50m.
S O TS NEWS. On Sunday 28th October some of our Pre-Prep Jiu Jitsu Club members competed in Newquay in the Tri County Cup along with clubs from Truro and Redruth. They all did very well and managed to win the under 8s team competition ISA SW U11 Tag Rugby Tournament at St Christopher s Staverton
ISA SW U9 Tag Rugby Tournament at St Christopher s Staverton : Thursday 18 October Match Report Year 4 played fantastically at the fiercely contested tournament which was hosted by St Christopher s in Staverton. Our team tasted all three possible outcomes with a win against St. Christopher s B team, a draw against St Joseph s School and a narrow 8-7 loss against St Christopher s A team. All the children had a fantastic day and the girls particularly enjoyed their introduction to competitive rugby. Mr Main..

U8 Hockey v Truro Prep School & Truro High School Tuesday 16 October Match Report The y3 girls played their first afternoon of fixtures for Polwhele and thoroughly enjoyed it. They played 2 matches and these were against the stronger teams put out by TP and THS. The first game was the tougher of the two where the girls realised that they need to keep their stick on the ground and go towards the ball. The score of the first game was 3-2 to Truro Prep. Our second game against THS resulted in a 1-0 victory for Polwhele. Well played girls. Mrs Lusty

M SIC & D AMA NEWS During half term two of our Year 7 Performing Arts Scholars took part in the Royal Academy of Dance pop up show at kings cross station in London. Every year the RAD invite dancers from all over the country to perform with them. It is one of the most popular events held at Kings Cross. Both Jamie and Daniel enjoy this event performing as part of a group with Jason Thomas and also individual solos.
Polwhele House Toddler Group Second Half of the Michaelmas Term 2018 Wednesdays 2.00-3.30pm Each week we will play, sing and have story time with a snack. All welcome! Date Theme 31 st October Fire, Fire A chance to play in our role play Fire engine and join in with lots of fireman activities. 7 th November Poppy Power We will make paper and painted poppies to take home with us and remember this special day. 16 th November Children in Need Let s dress in spots and see how 1p and 2p pennies we can bring to cover our own Pudsey Bear with spots to raise money for children in need. 21 st November The BIG Christmas make 2 th November Final Toddlers How much glitter we can use in one toddler session is the big question! Polwhele Equestrian Scholars took part in the Primary Schools Show Jumping Competition and Gymkhana which took place at Goonbell Riding Centre in St Agnes on Monday 29th October. Four of our Scholars made up one team came up 3rd overall and we also came first in Tack and Turnout. Well done! Miss Miriam Head of Riding
