Twenty Four Years Keep Connected. http://www.rivercitycorvetteclub.com/index.html http://www.rivercitycorvetteclub.com/calendar.html https://www.facebook.com/rivercity.corvetteclub Our meetings are held the 3 rd Thursday of each month at O Charleys on Hixson Pike. Dinner at 6 pm and the meeting starts at 7 pm. Visitors are always welcome. Come and see what we are all about. With 150 members we are one of the largest Corvette Clubs in southeast Tennessee. What do our members enjoy? Organized road trips to the Corvette Museum, Maggie Valley, Gatlinburg, State Parks, etc. Cruises on scenic roads, including the annual spring and fall weekend trips. Participation in local events like cruise-ins, cook-outs, the annual club picnic, local parades, homecomings and other community activities. Friday night lights, an informal gathering on Friday evenings, at a different restaurant each week to kick off the weekend. The club has fund raisers throughout the year and donates the money to local charities. Giving back to the community is a high priority with the club. BUT MOST OF ALL FUN!!!

From The President s Desk I would like to thank everyone that came out to the Integrity Spring Show your Ride. Even though the weather outlook didn t look very good the show was a success thanks to our members that registered and volunteered. I m thankful that we ve had great membership participation. This participation is the main reason we are able to support our local charities. Ron Kellogg I would encourage all members to like out facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/rivercity.corvetteclub and request to be a member of our closed FB group RCCC https://www.facebook.com/groups/311199585559424/ Lots of last minute information concerning lunch or dinner cruises posted in the RCCC group. We are also already receiving homecoming request from local high schools. Save the Wave Ron Kellogg, President River City Corvette Club, Inc.

May is always a busy month for RiverCity. Car shows, Cruise Ins, and cruises are planned for every weekend. The weather was great this month (even if it was a bit rainy) and there were a ton of great shows. RiverCity won Club Participation Awards at the DAV and East Tennessee Car Show this month. We had a great turn out not only at car shows but cruises also, such as the Camp Jordan Jams.

You might be a Corvette Nut if....you can name the first year of each Corvette Generation... Marty Gaffin showed off his new C3 at the Ronnie Blaylock Car Show.

We had a ton of fun at the Integrity Car Show on May 16 th. We had 25 members cars and 9 non-members cars enter. The rain may have scared some away but we still had tons of fun. We had great music and good company. We even had a hoola hooping contest.

(Integrity Cont.)

Lots of our new members showed their rides at the show! (Integrity Cont.)

Hoola Hoop Madness (Integrity Cont.)

(Integrity Cont.)

On May 3 rd nine of our RCCC members cruised up to Knoxville to enter the Reeder Chevrolet show. Three of our members won trophies at the show, which is a huge accomplishment because this show is hard to win at. We also won Club Participation at the show.

(Reeder Cont.) Congratulations to our members who won awards at the Reeder Chevy Show.

Pep Boys Cruise In On May 15 th we had our first cruise in to Pep Boys in Hixson. We had around 20 cars come to the cruise in even though we had the threat of rain, and we all had lots of fun!

(Pep Boys Cont.)

NOT We all have tons of fun in our cars and we love to speed around, but staying safe is also very important. At the Ronnie Blaylock Car Show one Corvette owner passed the line between safe and fun and crashed his Corvette. He got on the Corvette on his way out of the parking lot and lost control of the Vette. He got sideways and sped through the grass in front of Central High School before crashing into a parked trunk. Thank goodness nobody was hurt, but he was arrested for reckless endangerment and reckless driving. He spent the night in jail.

On May 1 st Chattanooga had its annual Armed Forces Day Parade. We had 17 cars in the parade and even had a red, white, and blue C2 front line set up.

(Armed Forces Day Parade Cont.) All of our members showed off their respect for the armed forces with beautiful flags and decorations.

River City Corvette Club General Meeting April 16, 2015 7:00 PM, O Charley s Hixson Pike Officers & Board of Directors in Attendance Ron Kellogg, President Bob Seiter, Vice-President Yes Robin Peterson, Treasurer No Anna Lane, Secretary Jerry Davis, Board Member Yes Ron Hasting, Board Member Yes Sheila Martin, Board Member Yes Guy Morgan, Board Member No Jerry Ray, Membership Chair Yes Yes Yes Members in Attendance: 39 Call to Order President Ron Kellogg called the April general meeting to order after a motion from Larry Harless was seconded by Victor Pettett. Approval of March Minutes Secretary Anna Lane read the minutes from the March 2015 meeting. Victor Pettett made a motion to accept the minutes as read which was seconded by Jerry Davis. Treasurer s Report Treasurer Robin Peterson was absent from this evening s meeting so President Ron Kellogg gave the treasurer s report for April. A motion was made by Ray Aubrey to accept the report as presented. This motion was seconded by Bob Dodd.

Membership Report Membership Chairman Jerry Ray reported River City Corvette Club has 142 members representing 98 Corvettes. Newest members include Joe & Wendy Wood. Since we have several new members Jerry Ray reminded everyone that River City Corvette Club meets at Dairy Queen every Monday night 6:00pm-8:00pm and when club members order food if they tell the cashier they receive a 25% discount. Red Bank Jubilee Parade Jerry Ray announced the Red Bank Jubilee Parade is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, 2015. River City Corvette Club always have several members who participate in the parade. Plans are to meet in the parking lot of the former Bi-Lo location at the corner of Dayton Boulevard and Browntown Road at 9:00am. Integrity Car Show-Spring Ron reported board members agreed it would be best to postpone the Integrity Car Show scheduled for April 18th due to the forecast of 100% rain for Saturday. Of course now that the show has been postponed the forecast has changed and the weather will actually be decent. Board members will identify an alternate date for the show and verify with Dwight Morgan. Once that date is identified Ron will announce to club members. Integrity Car Show-Fall Ron reported the date of the fall Integrity Car Show is scheduled for October 31, 2015. Anna stated plans are to take advantage of the car show falling on Halloween by having a Halloween costume contest, have the DJs play spooky music and have treat bags for any children attending. Several club members plan to participate by wearing a costume for the show. Victor stated there was the event at the Tennessee Pavilion last Halloween that included a car show that could be competition force on that day.

April Birthdays President Ron Kellogg recognized the club members celebrating a birthday in March. They are Allen Arthur, Dava Crouse, Jerry Davis, Sandy Dodd, Carol Kellogg, Billy Maxwell, Tim Roth, Meadow Smith and Peggy Wiencke. Happy Birthday from the River City Corvette Club! RCCC Classic Car Show at Camp Jordan Bob reported he and Gary Martin plan to meet with O Reillys to discuss the possibility of O Reilly sponsoring the trophies for the Classic Car Show at Camp Jordan. Ron stated car show committee members include: Chair & Co-Chair: Robin Peterson & Ron Kellogg Judging: Jerry Davis Vendors: Judy Davis Parking: Brian Williams MC Duties and Door Prizes: Anna Lane Auction Tent: Sheila Martin and Shelley Williams 50/50: Gary Martin Planning & helping where needed: Bob Seiter & Al Cerasi Brian reported there is a firm commitment from Thunder Creek Cycle for at least two vendor spaces. Brian is also in discussion with Thunder Creek to provide judges for the motorcycle class. Ron stated if anyone has suggestions for the car show they should contact one of the car show committee members. Committee members will be contacting club members to help with this important event. Bylaws Review Committee Bob reported members of the Bylaws review committee are currently reviewing the Bylaws and there will be more to report at an upcoming meeting. Bob stated there is a purpose statement saying that the club supports the National Corvette Museum. Bob stated the club does not currently support the National Corvette Museum so a decision needs to be made whether to keep that statement in the Bylaws or keep the statement in and support the National Corvette Museum by making a monetary donation annually. Ron reported in the past the club did have a member serve as ambassador. The club has also purchased a brick that

is located in the front section Museum. Several members expressed the opinion that since we are a Corvette club we should support the museum. Ron suggested a $100 annual donation. Members can give this thought and it will be brought up again at the next meeting for a decision. Scenic City Chevy Club/RCCC Cruise-in Ron announced the Scenic City Chevy Club and RCCC plan a joint cruise-in Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Walmart parking lot near Chick Fil-A. River City Corvette Club plans to have cruise-ins throughout the summer on Friday or Saturday night. Scenic City Chevy Club may join us at some of these events. Armed Forces Day Parade Ron reported there are 20 cars signed up to participate in the Armed Forces Day parade. He still does not have the lineup information but will pass that along as soon as he receives it. Pep Boys Cruise-in Ron announced there will be a cruise-in at Pep Boys in Hixson Friday, May 15, 2015. Allison stated Pep Boys is donating door prizes for the cruise-in. Bob stated we could do a 50-50 at the cruise-in that would raise some money for our charities. Myrtle Beach car Show Tim stated he and Jean are attending the all Corvette car show in Myrtle Beach on June 6, 2015. Tim stated last year there were approximately 350 Corvettes in the show. Tim stated this is a fun show in a great location. Anyone interested in attending should contact him for more information. East Ridge Optimist Club Car Show Ron announced the East Ridge Optimist Club is having car show at Camp Jordan June 13. Several RCCC club members plan to participate in the show and attending this show will give us an idea of how they laid out their show to determine what worked and what didn t so we can improve upon the process for our show.

On a related matter, car club committee members met at camp Jordan to determine approximately how many cars can fit in the arena. Committee members believe 100-120 cars will fit therefore the decision was made to not move forward with having the additional tent put outside since doing so would cost $1000 for the set up/take down of the tent. Bloomington Gold Show Bob reported so far he, Chuck Logan and Charlie Reynolds plan to attend the Bloomington Gold car show at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway scheduled for June 25-27, 2015. Bob stated there is an opportunity to purchase passes to take your car around the track on the open road course. Anyone else interested in attending should contact Bob. Wilderness Drive-in Theatre Bob Dodd, who is also a member of the Scenic City Chevy Club, stated the SCCC usually makes the trip to the Wilderness Drive-in Theatre in Trenton, GA once a year. Bob stated he and Sandy look forward to this event and wondered if RCCC might want plan to go there. Ron stated the club does try to book this at least once a year and everyone enjoys this outing. Anna suggested we should plan an outing before it gets too hot because there seems to be so many conflicting events in the fall that it is hard to fit this outing in. Camp Jordan Jams Ron encouraged club members to attend Camp Jordan Jams a free concert series put on by the city of East Ridge. Some club members attended last year and had a good time. Club members get to park up by the stage. The first concert is scheduled for May 23, 2015 and another July 3, 2015 featuring The Beaters along with food and fireworks. Both of these concerts provide a great opportunity for club members to advertise our August 1 car show at Camp Jordan. Lynchburg Trip Larry Harless, coordinator for the Lynchburg trip, reported at this point there are 35 club members planning to attend but there is always room for more. Lunch will be at Miss Mary Bobo s at noon (Eastern). Those interested in eating lunch will need to get their check to Larry by April 30. Those that attended last year

had a good time. The ladies did a little shopping in the town square and some attendees take advantage of the free tours of the distillery. Upcoming Car Shows o National Corvette Museum Bash: April 23-25, 2015 public tours available Monday through Friday 8:30, 11:30 and 2:00 central time Sleep Inn (one exit down from the plant) $70-$80/night o East TN Corvette Club Car Show at Reeder Chevrolet: May 3, 2015 Corvette only show, great door prizes and lunch provided. o Myrtle Beach Corvette Show: June 6, 2015 Tim Nutz volunteered to coordinate this event. o Huntsville Corvette Show: June 6, 2015 Bob stated those not going to Myrtle Beach should consider supporting this show since this club has participated in our shows. o Vettes of the Smokies: June 20, 2015 o Abba s House Car Show: June 20, 2015 o Bloomington Gold at Indianapolis Motor Speedway: June 25-27, 2015 Bob stated if anyone is interested they should let him know. At this time he and Chuck Logan plan to attend. o Middle TN Corvette Club-Lynchburg: July 11, 2015 Larry Harless volunteered to coordinate this event o Somerset, KY Corvette Show: July 24-25, 2015 Larry reported there is a contract snafu with the City of Somerset and The Beach Boys who were announced to perform at this event. According to Larry s contact there is a 50/50 possibility The Beach Boys will not perform. They are trying to iron out this situation but at this time information about The Beach Boys has been pulled from advertisements. several club members have already made their reservations for this event o Corvettes at Carlisle: August 28-30, 2015 o Vette Fest: October 3, 2015

50/50 & Other Drawings Ron announced there are three items available for drawings this evening; 50/50 money, two tickets to the Lookouts Classic Car night on Thursday, May 28, 2015 and a Monster rain jacket donated by Bob Seiter. A total of $150 was collected for the 50/50 drawing with $75 to the winner; Norma Harless. The winner of the Monster jacket is Jerry Davis. The winner of the Lookout s tickets is Ernie Pierce. Adjournment Ernie Pierce made a motion to adjourn the April meeting. Victor Pettett seconded the motion and the meeting was adjourned. Respectfully submitted, Anna Lane
