MATH CLUB Do you ever wonder how Pythagoras came up with the Pythagorean Theorem? Or how Euclid realized there are an infinite number of prime numbers? Do you like pi, arithmetic, and simplifying fractions? Well you are in luck! In Math Club, we will not only learn how to solve equations and think critically about mathematics, but we will learn the history behind numbers and theorems. We will help plan an awesome Pi Day and compete in a few math competitions towards the end of the year. Math Club meets on Wednesdays in room 313 (Mr. Jonas room) BE THERE OR BE SQUARE! Model United Nations Beginner: Designed for students who have never been on Model UN Meets with Mr. Curran for six sessions, beginning in January One day conference in March at City College Advanced: Designed for students who have previously attended a MUN conference Meets with Mr. Spear for six sessions, beginning in January Three day conference at UN headquarters in May International: Each year, the club travels to a different foreign country to debate issues from students from around the world So far we have been to: Italy, Israel, China, and Russia This year we are going to Greece and Turkey, you should come along!

Green Team Are you interested in serving your community, your school and your environment? Green Team is devoted to raising environmental awareness and aiding the school community to live an earth-friendly lifestyle at school and beyond. We welcome all members of the community to participate in making our school the best place it can be by keeping our school clean and making sound choices with the environment as a chief concern in our day-to-day lives. Elro GSA (Gay-Straight Alliance) The Elro GSA is a club for those who care about LGBTrelated issues existing in our school, larger community, and the world. We participate in events such as the AIDS walk, the Day of Silence, and host movie nights and many guest speakers. We also fundraise for anti-bullying charities and make bracelets every year that the whole school wears! Everybody is welcome to join. We meet every Thursday in room 306 from 3:30 to 4:30. SMAC - Student Movement Against Cancer We raise money and awareness for cancer research through bake sales, raffles, and walks. Our first big event of the year will be the Breast Cancer Walk on Sunday, October 21st. With a $20 donation and completion of the walk, you will get 5 hours community service. DRAMA CLUB The club will meet Tuesdays after school from 3:40-4:40. The first official interest meeting is October 2nd, 2012. There will be two performances over the course of the year (a winter showcase and a spring play). Meet special guests from Broadway, TV, and film. SKI and SNOWBOARD CLUB The Eleanor Roosevelt Ski and Snowboard is about having fun. No experience necessary. The club has two day trips each winter to Hunter, Belleayre, or Windham Mountains. Trips include round trip transportation, lift ticket and breakfast. Stay tuned for upcoming announcements about an interest meeting and more information about the trips. Questions?
