The Berkshire Broncos have been studying parasites in equines for the past few months and hoof anatomy/diseases. We visited the Animal Diagnostic Lab at Cornell on April 2 nd. Dr. Leijuine and his staff took the time to explain how they identify parasites from Fecal samples, how they are processed, what species affect equine, and the importance of parasite control in your horses. We then took a lunch break in our café at the vet school and then headed off to visit Steve Krauss the head of the farrier program. He took the time to explain the importance of hoof care. He also explained the use of different types of shoes and functions, along with showing us how the students are preparing to become the next group of farriers available to our community. I also forgot to include we had a brief history introduction on the history of the lab and our club was shown how their coggins and other test are received and were they are processed. Club News Reporter - - Matthew Greene Hoof & Claw 4-H Club..... On Satur day, April 21, the members of the Hoof & Claw and Ranch Riders participated in Cornell s Block and Bridle Club s annual Livestock Show and Barnyard Fun Day. The Ranch Riders brought some miniature horses. The Hoof & Claw members brought a variety of our project animals including a goat, a rabbit, some cavy, chickens, and newly hatched chicks for event visitors to pet. We answered a lot of questions about our project animals. Our club members passed out stickers. Additionally, we had a guessing game for people to try and match samples of Angora, mohair, cash-

mere and wool to pictures of our 4-H project animals. Some of us demonstrated how to spin wool and alpaca fiber. We also put together a gift basket for the Tioga County 4-H Horse program s upcoming tack sale. News Reporter - - K atie Popp Berkshire Broncos 4-H Club..... On Wednesday Apr il 11, 2018 the Berkshire Broncos had special guest Ciara Schiess come to the barn and teach us how to braid our horse s hair. Club leader Marian also taught us how to groom our horses. Club News Reporter - - Matthew Greene Ranch Riders 4-H Club..... The Ranch Riders 4-H club participated in the Block and Bridle Barnyard Fun Day at Cornell University on Saturday, April 21.
