Our chapter won the Northern Waters Chapter Challunge on October 21 st! Our Team of Gary & Linda Jacobs, Tony & Dan Pudlo, Scott Samuels and I, were part of 4 teams (24 fisherpersons), 2 teams each between the Northwoods Chapter and us to fish the event. With a total of 14 Muskies released, our team won the Chapter Challunge by 1 point (1/4 ) ahead of the Northwoods Chapters team with 4 fish. This was an excellent competition between our two local chapters with some of the best fisherpersons in their chapters. Thanks to the Northwoods chapter for hosting it, and to John Bennett who ran this event, under the leadership of their President Pete Stoltman. The event was held at Fibber s Bar and Restaurant on Big Saint Lake. Thanks to Fibbers for a wonderful meal and to the Northwoods chapter for a great raffle. Thanks to our contact person: Musky Pete (Dale Peterson) for organizing our teams for this event. We will be hosting next year s Northern Waters Chapter Challunge, time and place TBD. The Enduro October 28 th under some not so perfect weather: windy, snowy, and sleeting, we had 46 members fishing. We had a total of 7 fish released. Releasing fish were: Ron Spulak 34, Linda Jacobs 44 ½, Bill Reshel 43, John Vesely 39, Andy Martin 32 and Rich Pahl 39 & 41. Member Outings Chairmen Dan Pudlo and Andy Hendrickson did a great job organizing and running the event. The Whitetail Inn did an outstanding job with our meal. This year we had 57 attendees with 46 of them taking to the lakes to fish. The big fish pot winner was Linda Jacobs with a 44 ½. She took home $230.00. Next years Enduro will be on Saturday October 27, 2018. Outing Dates: (Please note date change from last newsletter) Gill Hamm will be August 29 th, 30 th & 31st, the week before our outing at Redwing Lodge on Lake of the Woods Canada. Our annual outing also at Redwing Lodge will be the same week as last year, Labor Day week, September 1st to 8 th. These outing run back to back Make your plans early, especially if you plan on staying at Redwing for the Gill Hamm as it will fill early. More information will follow in up-coming newsletters. December s meeting is election of officers. Meetings are open to all members; and are the first Wednesday of each month starting at 7pm at the Eagle River Inn. My wish is to see many new faces at our meetings, outing and events, (nothing wrong with the old ones!). You can start by attending our Christmas Party January 6 th at Catch 22 (the old Captain Nemo s). See p. 5 for Christmas Party sign up form. Minutes from November 1st Directors Meeting 3 Bill Jacobs called the meeting to order at 7:00pm. Motion made to accept the October minutes. 2 nd by Bob J. Treasurers Report: Glenn is out of town, so Bill J. shared the report with us. BMO Checking Account Opening Balance $47,087.08 Income $ 290.00 Expenses $ 4,829.81 Balance $42,547.27 RVP Report: Elmer told us the Region had their meeting Oct 16. Eight of the chapters in the region were present. They held an election for three of the regional reps. They confirmed what was reported last month there is a $10 across the board dues increase starting in January. There was discussion about it. Many of the chapters were not happy about this but it is definite. Where is the money going? Much of it will go towards the various youth programs. There is concern about losing members due to this increase. Discussed the 501c3 status. It was mentioned that four of the region s chapters have over 50K in gross income, so those chapters are going to have to file for 501c3 status on their own. Docks and Landings: The Eagle Lake public landing is being repaved. Total tab will be 13K. The county is looking for a total of 6K from us to help with the cost. The snowmobile trail is a big cause of the damage to the ramp, so they are also asking area snowmobile clubs to help with the cost. Bob J. will have more details for us next month. Banquet Report: Joe K. says we will be back at the White Tail Inn on March 24, 2017. Tournaments: Scott explained he is speaking with the new Food/Bev people at Eagle River Inn about their possibly hosting the Spring Classic again in 2018. Outings: Our Enduro was a big success, and the Whitetail Inn did a good job as hosts. We are likely to have it there again next year. New Business: Joe K. and John S. would like to set up a Director s Dinner again. It was agreed that they should begin working on this. It s great to have John Schmidt back with us! Andy H. discussed the need to help rebuild one of the landings at Kentuck Lake. The Town of Phelps is asking us for 4K to help with this. The total cost is estimated to be almost 7K. We called for a vote, and it passed. Bob J. Nominated Summer H. as a new Director. 2 nd by Scott S. It passed. We welcome Summer to the team! Also, John S. is back as a Director. As mentioned earlier, it s great to have him back. Motion to adjourn: Bob J. 2 nd : Dan P.
