ISSUE 01 / SEPTEMBER Azle Independent School District It Makes a Difference to this One The Buzz Kindness Challenge 3 Eagle Heights students united to kick off the 20172018 Campus Kindness Challenge. Students pictured gave a Thumbs-up to promoting kindness and compassion on their campus. All students were challenged to be a Soaring Eagle. A Soaring Eagle is a student that is compassionate, trustworthy, positive and kind to all. Amy Rollmann Kindness Challenge 3- Students were challenged to be a Soaring Eagle. Alisa Johnson Congratulations, Tia Moenawarded grant from Dallas Theater Center Family Tia Moen, AHS Theater Arts teacher, received a grant from Project Discovery Dallas Theater Center was accepted. The grant includes 24 season tickets for five of the main stage shows along with bus transportation to and from the theater. The grant also provides professional development workshops teaching tools to assist the educator in integrating Dallas Theater Center s productions into the classroom. BREAKFAST at LIBERTY Liberty Elementary celebrated Grandparents Day with a Breakfast Friday, September 8. We had a great turnout and all guests seemed to enjoy the breakfast and spending time with their grandchildren. -Kella Rogers Forte Jr. High doing their part Forte Jr. High students are doing their part to help victims affected by Hurricane Harvey in Southeast Texas. FJH students, faculty and staff collected diapers, pull-ups and wipes to be delivered to residents in Vidor. On Tuesday, September 12, students loaded a vehicle with donations. Servolution, a local faithbased non-profit organization, delivered the donations to Vidor residents this past weekend, September 16-17 th. Amber Browne Azle Sting Fling Parade September 9, 2017 On Saturday, September 9, the Azle Chamber of Commerce had its annual Sting Fling parade. The Azle Junior High cheerleaders received the trophy for the Most Spirited participants. Congratulations to all the cheerleaders and their sponsor. Brian Roberts GO HORNETS!

Houston Needs Your Help Walnut Creek is reaching out to all of Azle to help Condit Elementary in Houston ISD. Rock School WINS Sting Fling Participation Award AGAIN! Azle Elementary won the title of Most School Participants again this year with over 60 student runners with several faculty and supporters. The Rock School has won this title for every year that the award has been given and the legacy continues in 2017. Congratulations to Mr. Slininger, Mrs. Dixon and all the colorful runners. Following the 5K Color Run, our amazing administrators Mrs. Lee and Mrs. Holt each took a turn in the dunking booth. Marsha Lindenmeier

New clubs this year, Hoover Elementary The Running Club led by Erica Fox where students can run their little hearts out before sitting in class all day long. Elizabeth Kent Volleyball club led by Suzanne Dye and Jackie McDaniel teaches students the basics of volleyball. Elizabeth Kent Cross Timbers- Kindergarten Gingerbread Hunt Kindergarten students at Cross Timbers Elementary spent the morning September 15 th searching the school for the Gingerbread Man. Our search took us to the cafeteria, nurse s office and front office so now we know how to get around our school. When we finally arrived back in our classroom, there was a gingerbread cookie waiting for each Silver Creek Elementary Grandparents Day Silver Creek Elementary held its annual Grandparents Day Lunch on September 7 th and 8 th. The students enjoyed showing their grandparents around and introducing them to their friends. Silver Creek Student Council adopted grandparents from Azle Manor and enjoyed having them join us in our celebration! Heidi Nelson student and enjoyed by all.
