Vision The Beltline Bonspiel is a premier winter festival celebrating local community and rooted in Calgary s proud heritage. The one day festival brings together local Calgary community teams to compete in a friendly outdoor curling tournament with the backdrop of the historic Lougheed House, Alberta music, delicious local food and beer, and entertainment for all ages. Since its inception as the first outdoor curling tournament in Calgary in over 100 years, the Beltline Bonspiel has strengthened Calgary s Beltline neighbourhoods bringing together residents in the middle of winter for a truly unique Calgary experience. Community Impact The mission of the Beltline Bonspiel is to strengthen community spirit in Calgary, showcase local artists, restaurants and breweries, and celebrate Calgary s proud heritage. Founded through a grassroots partnership between the historic Lougheed House and the Beltline Neighbourhoods Association, the festival is growing to create more opportunities for residents to celebrate with their neighbours, for businesses to connect with residents, and for local artists to share their talents. Beltline Demographics The Beltline is consistently one of Calgary s topranked neighbourhoods and for good reason: it is home to a diverse population of Calgarians active in the city s civic, arts and cultural, and sporting events. The evolution of the Beltline as a family-friendly neighbourhood represents a generational shift towards a more community-focused, urban lifestyle. Media Presence 2018 Numerous press publications across all platforms including newspaper, web, TV and radio A coveted gold medal may not be at stake for this competition, but the teams will be competing for Calgary s historic Brewers Cup. The massive sterling silver trophy was made in 1915 and hadn t been awarded since 1965 up until last year, anyway. -Metro News Calgary Those of a more philosophical bent may want to stay outside, perhaps in Village Brewery s rinkside beer garden where they can monitor the chase for the Brewery Trophy and, with glass in hand, note that in 2018, as in 1915, curling and beer march hand in hand. -Calgary Herald
The brewery trophy Est. 1915 Community teams compete in a friendly tournament for the historic Brewery Trophy each year at the Beltline Bonspiel. The Brewery Trophy was made in 1915 for the Calgary Brewing and Malting Company and had not been award since 1966 prior to the inaugural Beltline Bonspiel in 2017. The coveted trophy is generously loaned to the Beltline Bonspiel from the Southern Alberta Curling Association s museum at the Calgary Curling Club.

Our rinkside DJ stage keeps the outside festivities warm and everyone bumping. Inside the Lougheed House, Albertabased folk and roots artists play intimate performances within what is truly a historic Alberta setting.
Kids Programming Free admission and tours of the Lougheed House Storytime with the Calgary Public Library Bonspiels are for everyone - not just the big kids. OUR Properties Community rink at LOUGHEED HOUSE Winter s too long to hide away indoors. That s why we build a beautiful skating rink that opens in January and is free to public. The rink transforms the park at Lougheed House into a unique urban winter wonderland for skating. Curling Sheets The rink is divided into two curling sheets for the Beltline Bonspiel, complete with fou r hou s e s a nd customizable buttons. MEDALS Custom Beltline Bonspiel medals to the top three community teams.
EVENT STAGE The centre of all the action located rinkside. You ll find our DJs spinning tunes, our MC announcing the play-by-play, and the awards ceremony complete with the Brewery Trophy, champaign and medals. Bonspiel Beer Garden The 1915 Brewery Trophy was started for a good reason. Our family-friendly rinkside beer garden is the best place to catch all the action while enjoying delicious local brews and food.
OUR Properties Corporate tourney Calgary is full of great businesses and we re inviting them to join in on the fun. This year we ll be hosting a parallel corporate tourney as part of the bonspiel with room for four teams.

About us The Beltline Neighbourhoods Association is a vibrant community association for the Beltline district in urban Calgary encompassing the neighbourhoods of Connaught, Victoria Park and Stampede. We are a grassroots organization founded by engaged residents with a history of service in their communities who wanted to build an accessible and diverse association open to all residents to get involved in making the Beltline an even better place. The BNA has launched some of Calgary s most exciting new initiatives including the Beltline Bonspiel, the McHugh House Community and Arts Hub, and the Beltline Urban Murals Project (BUMP).
