Braintree Women s Club APRIL NEWSLETTER 2018 April 5, 2018: Guest Night- Enjoy the presentation Lizzy Borden and the 40 Whacks presented by the Delvena Theatre Company. The performance will be a mock trial which invites the audience participation by questioning Lizzie and voting on her guilt or innocence. Community Service: The Collin s Mission Fundraiser was a huge success and Lisa Maroney wanted me to pass on her great thanks to the Club members for their support. We plan to continue to help with this Mission as much as we can in the future. Many thanks to the members who provided and served refreshments at the John Adams Nursing Home during the St. Patrick s Day songfest. All of the residents enjoyed the music and the afternoon program. We look forward to your continued support for refreshments and serving at the Braintree Manor Nursing Home (Kindred) April 10, 2018, starting at 2:00. Please contact Deanna Fredie (781-843-2520 or frediedj@beld.net) to volunteer your support. This is a reminder that we will be collecting toiletry items, socks and other personal items for Homeless Teens to be distributed by the Quincy Crisis Center in local areas. This is a segment of our community members in need that is often forgotten. Let s do our best to be of service to them as well. Deanna Fredie, Chairperson Arts and Entertainment: A big Thank You goes out to Lucille for hosting such a nice meeting last week. And thanks to all for donating to the Wine Tasting raffle. I used your donations to purchase two $25 gift certificates; Panera and Shaws. Our next meeting will be on Thursday April 12 at my house. We have two choices for you. (You only need to read one.) 1. Before We Were Yours, by Lisa Wingate 2. Carnegie's Maid, by Marie Benedict (same author as The Other Einstein.) Book your calendar for this meeting. I have planned a Mystery Guest to join us. Braintree Glee Club: We will be singing at the Braintree Manor, Washington St. Braintree on April 10th at 2:00 PM. If you cannot make this event, please call me. Doors open at 6:00 PM. Dinner choices are Baked Stuffed Haddock or Chicken Marsala - cost is $35.00. Please make check, with choice of entree on memo line, payable to the Braintree Women s Club. You can pay at the April meeting or mail your check to Jane Gillis - 348 Tilden Commons Lane, Braintree, MA 02184. Lucille Barton and Jane Gillis, Chairmen Scholarship: We will able to give one scholarship this year to a Braintree High School senior. If we raise enough money we may be able to give another scholarship. Terry Rouvalis, Chairman Federation: The Annual Meeting will be at held at Westford Regency on May 5 and 6. Please call Terry, Lucille or Maureen if you are interested in attending. Terry Rouvalis, Chairman Note from the Treasurer: Dues for 2018-2019 are due by June 1 st. Dues for all members are $40.00 ($35.00 for club dues plus $5.00 for hospitality). Please make checks payable to Braintree Women s Club. The By-Laws state that if your dues are not paid by June 1 st, you will no longer be a member. No calls will be made if dues are not received by this time. President s Message: I wish to thank Marta and her committee who worked so hard to make the Wine and Dine event such a great success. Everyone had a wonderful time. Also, thank you to everyone who donated raffles. Included in this newsletter is a new sign up sheet for committees for the next two years. Also included is information describing the various committees and what they involve. Please fill out the form and mail to Therese English. Her address is included. I hope all members will be able to attend Guest Night. It should be an interesting and fun show.
