CHIPS FROM THE BUZZSAW Volume 65, Issue 24 6 Chunk from the Buzzsaw The Mom Dinner for kids without parents was very heartwarming. The Mighty WS Rotary generously donated $500. Each attendee received a high quality coat and a white elephant present. Three Interact students, led by Jessica, shopped for the white elephant gifts (e.g. food items/toy/socks). The host mom, Hannah, shopped and got great deals on coats. All the children were very surprised and happy with their gifts. The Interact students loved participating and helping in this project. They shopped and then learned proper dinner wear placement, how to greet people, serve dinner and clean up. Typically it's the girls that volunteer for this kind of project. However, Eric, Jacob and Kasem were the helpers for this evening s event. Dr. Charyl Silva, Interact Advisor FUTURE ROTARIAN: Aaron Saelee Aaron Saelee is a Senior at River City High School. He as been active in Interact all four years and is currently serving on the board for his second year. Aaron s favorite events have been the Spring Carnival and Senior Gift Program. He knows that these two events bring joy to other people. It is Aaron s part in helping out that creates a big impact on others. Aaron has cochaired both events and he plans on taking over and chairing (with a shadow) the Spring Carnival this year. After graduation, Aaron plans on studying civil engineering. He has applied to several State Universities including Sacramento, San Francisco, San Diego, and Cal Poly. He is also applying to UC Irvine, UC Davis, and UC Santa Barbra. Aaron is not positive that he wants to go directly to college. He is also considering the Air Force. At this time, he remains undecided, but he should have a decision by the end of the school year. Last summer, Aaron attended RYLA; it was the most indescribable experience of his life. The lessons he learned at the camp could not have acquired anywhere else. He is truly grateful for having the opportunity to attend. The main reason why Aaron is in Interact is because he enjoys helping others and being involved. There are no other clubs on campus like Interact and Aaron is glad to say that he is a part of this inspiring group. 2013-2014 Rotary International President Ron D.
