It s getting hot outside. I just got in from scuba diving in my swimming pool. I m practicing for the next time I go to Hawaii. I hope you are all staying cool while temperatures soar. Many of us go on vacations during the summer months. Don t forget there are Rotary clubs around the world, so google your destination and find out where the nearest club is and when they meet. I went to a Rotary club meeting in Mexico some years ago. I enjoyed myself even though I didn t understand one word they said. That is because Rotarians speak a universal language. Did you know they have Rotary meetings aboard cruise ships? Rotarians from many different countries get together for a meeting and tell Rotary stories about their clubs. If you are going on a trip or doing a staycation, I hope you have a great July, and I ll see you at our August meeting. Contact me any time at carollangley7@gmail.com CLUB SERVICE HOURS TO DATE: Don t forget to report your hours at the end of the month CLICK HERE Wear You Cowboy hat, your boots and ride your horse (optional) to our next meeting. Our guest will be our District Governor, JACK ARNEY

6 THE HIGHLANDER Page 6 4/16/2018 Flexibility, Diversity and Service, The Rotary Passport One Club Way Page 6 Order Now and Have Your Badge by August 9th Advertise Your Business To District Rotarians This is your chance to be one of the first club members to have one of our classy new badges. We have decided to nix the old school round badges and go to badges like the one pictured above. Members will still receive round badges when the join, but after they complete their red dot requirements, they will be given the new badge. We wish we have the funds to buy everyone in the club a badge, but our budget is a little tight to allow us to do so. The badges cost $ You can order it now and we will bill you after they arrive. If you want one, please our president-elect Leigh-Ann and tell her your classification and how you want your first name to read. For instance, if your name is William and you want your badge to say Bill, just let her know and she can do that for you. If you don t remember your classification, Leigh-Ann will check our records and add it for you. It can t get easier than that! Order your badge before July 19th and you will be in our frst order. lreinero@yahoo.com Did you know our District 5180 has a website where we can advertise our businesses? This free Rotarian Business Listing website can publish up to two advertisements for you. Rotarians like to do business with each other when ever possible, so this is a great opportunity to tell us what you do. Advertisements will expire in one year unless they are renewed. Before submitting an advertisement, District Rotarians must first become a registered user. Click here to create an account. Rotary Global Rewards Helps Rotarians And Companies Explore Rotary Global rewards to find discounts and special offers, along with opportunities to give back to Rotary. If you are buying something on Amazon or getting ready to take a trip, you should go to the Global Rewards site and see if the company is offering a discount. On top of the discount, these companies will give Rotary a portion of their profit It is easy to use. All you have to do is go to Global Rewards instead of googling the company directly. You can find the Global Rewards program by logging into rotary.org, then click My Rotary and type Global Rewards in the search bar.

We never tire of knocking someone in a dunk tank, and on this day we will have four people to choose from. One possible target is our District Governor, Jack Arney. We need to be sure he gets a lot of attention,. The event is a fundraiser organized by the Rotary Club of Citrus Heights. Lunch and tosses cost $25, and tosses only cost $10. The proceeds will be donated to the fight against Human Trafficking. This is a chance to support a good cause and relieve some frustrations at the same time.
