Issue #7 2016 July Edition From the President Page 1 Major Sponsors Hi everyone, The finals of the AFL season are fast approaching. It's been a busy year for all. A big thank you to all everyone that has been involved in the club. It doesn't matter if you have had a small or big role, without you there is no club. Keep in mind that you can sign up for the 2017 season now, whether it's for the youth teams or Masters. It's great fun and it's a great way to make new friends. Drop us a comment on our Facebook page or website if you have any questions. Also there has been some interest in getting a team together for girls to play AFL, check out our website for more info. The Masters team have been having some good training sessions twice a week with a few new players signing up. The men are working well as a team and kicking some goals. A big thank you to Andrew Issom for getting the Master s dinner together. Some good funds for the club have come out it. So well done. So just remember AFL is for everyone to have fun, work as a team and meet some new friends. Page 2 player PROFILES Each newsletter we will be profiling members of our great club. This week it is Masters player Jai Yong Gee and under 8s player Levi Hayton who reached his 50 game milestone this month. Jai yong gee Jai Yong Gee, moved to the Fassifern area 18 months ago with his wife and 2 children and is a teacher at the local high school. He plays for the Masters team and identifies his main role as the BBQ Quality Assurance Officer. He was recruited for the falcons by Matt Edgeworth and loves the club as he believes that Sporting clubs are great way to meet people, especially when you are new to an area. He also enjoys staying fit and healthy. His greatest hopes and dreams for the Fassifern Falcons long term, is that he would love to see the sport and club grow in the Fassifern and eventually field a seniors team down the track. Jai backs the Gold Coast Suns and on a professional field his fave player is Patrick Dangerfield but a little closer to home believes that Muzza is his pick for best on field. The best piece of advice Jai has is to Encourage and support your children in sport as much as possible. Happy Children are Healthy Children LEVI HAYTON Levi Hayton is one of our under 8s who recently celebrated his 50th game for the Fassifern Falcons. He is in grade 3 at All Saints Primary school and this is his 4th season playing for the club. His biggest dream for the club is to get more players so we can have bigger teams. The committee agrees with Levi and this would be a terrific thing for our under 8s team to continue. Levi barracks for Brisbane Lions and last year he played for them at half time at the Gabba. What an achievement Levi! His favourite player is Tom Rockliff. And Levi s parting piece of advice is to Always play fair. And remember it's not about winning, just having fun! Assessments have been received from DMA scoping engineers outlining locations for the additional camper power points, building power upgrades and the 1st stage of the arena lights. With the recent announcement by Scott Buchholz Federal member for Wright to set aside $250000 for ground improvements the stage is set for renewed energy to set the Showgrounds up as a top place to visit. Further updates will be a feature of 2016/17 Thank You to the Powering Ahead Sponsor Group who have made this project possible.
