Dinner Run February 27 to Coyote Sam s Tyler, TX Vette Chatter page 2
Vette Chatter Page 3 Dutch Oven Cookout Dinner Run These Dutch Oven Cookouts are a pretty neat way to spend an occasional beautiful Saturday. These particular ones that we frequent are held at Tyler State Park north of Tyler on the First weekend of each month. President John Pearce participates, (cooking) several times a year. When we go as guest we don t do any cooking, just eat. The cooks do this as a lifestyle and seem to be glad to have several guest that enjoy their cooking. I ve gone three times and there seem to be plenty of food with a wide variety of dishes. If a large group of guest would show up it might overwhelm the food supply, but appears that 10 to 12 would fit in just fine. The park has large clean restrooms and dine under cover in a pavilion. The next time one of these dinner runs come up you might consider attending. On this day we only had five TOGCC members, and those with convertibles drove home with the wind in our hair. Some Photos:

OLD BUSINESS John Paul reported on car show and at this time we have scrubbed it for this year and are looking at Possibly doing a Show and Shine. Still trying to work out a location. Possibility is the Ice House and calling it a Corvette Roundup on May 14 and try to increase our Membership. The goal is to invite to show their car and fellowship. We voted on a Charity and majority agreed on the Ronald McDonald House. Carla is checking that out. We will setup registration booth at the Roundup. CLUB ACTIVITIES John Pearce reminded everyone that Hot Springs was coming soon. Last month activity to Caddo Lake was 14 cars and 7 cars to Coyote Sams. Meeting Adjourn Louise Paul
Vette Chatter page 5 Sebring, FL. Proud Day for Corvette Race Fans Chevrolet General Motors Corvette Lovers Everywhere. And Me. Dennis SEBRING, Fla. (March 19, 2016) Corvette Racing s Triple Crown streak continued Saturday with a 10 th class victory in the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh from Florida. Oliver Gavin, Tommy Milner and Marcel Fässler in the No. 4 Chevrolet Corvette C7.R won their second straight race to open the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) season to go along with a victory in the Rolex 24 At Daytona. It is the second straight victory at Sebring for Corvette Racing and the third in four years. Milner drove the final two hours and 50 minutes to win by 2.882 seconds. The team has won the last five of the world s top endurance races Daytona and Sebring in 2015 and 2016, plus the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2015. Great driving, teamwork and execution in the pits were keys to today s GTLM class victory for the No. 4 Corvette C7.R team in the 12 Hours of Sebring, said Jim Campbell, Chevrolet U.S. Vice President, Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. To come from two laps down and win in a field as competitive as the IMSA GTLM class is a true reflection of the never-give-up attitude of the Corvette Racing team. Campbell added, This win is special because it Corvette Racing s second consecutive win at Sebring and follows win at the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona. The IMSA season is off to an exciting start. Milner drove the first two hours, 50 minutes in Corvette Racing s No. 4 Chevrolet Corvette C7.R and was third at the time of a red flag for lightning and track conditions. Milner had led the GT Le Mans (GTLM) class midway through the opening quarter thanks to a strong first pit stop by the Corvette Racing crew and being able to take on wet tires 90 minutes into the race just before the pit entry closed due to a crash on track.
Do your C5 DRL s burn out quickly? By Texhawk (Terry Hawkins) Vette Chatter page 6 Do the daytime running lights on your C5 tend to burn out quickly? The problem may be caused by a cracked housing that allows water to get in and short out the socket or cause the bulb to fail. The heat from the bulbs cause the plastic housing to crack on the top of the housing. You can repair the housing with silicone, epoxy, or other suitable method, or just replace the housing, but if you use the stock bulb, the housing will likely crack again. The best fix would to be replace the stock bulb with LED s but obviously that is going to be more expensive. If you are going to just replace the bulb, there are shortcuts, like going through the brake duct, or around the headlight housing (with it raised), but will probably end up getting your arm torn up. I think the best method is to remove the access panel behind the front spoiler, It takes a little longer, but your arm will thank you.and is easier in the long run. Below are some photos of how to remove the panel. Removing and replacing the DRL housing is a little more complicated, but you can be done through the same access panel. Thanks Terry, I believe that many of us have had this problem.
